Love beyond the mask ( Whitney ) -
Chapter 884
Tiana gazed into his narrow eyes, the lenses of his glasses reflecting a chilling light.
She vividly remembered three years ago, the harrowing moment when her fiancé and Stella Patrick kidnapped her, and Parker came to her rescue. t was the first time she was shocked to see a man unleash such wild and ruthless fury. He burned the kidnapper's forehead with a cigarette butt and rescued her from that dark room.
Perhaps it was from that moment, three years ago, that she began to harbor different feelings for this dangerous man.
If it hadn't been for Barclay violating her and resulting in Cherry's birth three years ago, she might have been pregnant with Parker's child now, and there might have been a chance for something beautiful to blossom between them! But life is devoid of 'ifs.'
"Whose child is this?"
His voice was laden with rage, barely containing his emotions as he pressed her for answers.
Tiana had no doubt, at that moment, he might have wanted to strangle her! Yet, in his eyes, there was also a flicker of probing light.
Her heart wavered, tempted to pierce through the veil of uncertainty, yet lacking the courage to do so!
He arrived too swiftly, just four hours since Whitney discovered her pregnancy, before she had any clue on how to proceed, Parker appeared abruptly.
Her heart ached as she fought back tears, turning to walk towards the hospital bed, "Why are you here?"
"I'm asking you!" Parker stepped forward aggressively, gripping her slender shoulders, "Tiana, tell me the truth. Whose is the child you're carrying?"
"What business is it of yours?" Her voice was soft, keeping him at arm's length.
Parker's heart clenched, "Who the hell have you slept with? If not Barclay, then who?"
Hearing his chilling tone, Tiana looked up into his confused yet eager eyes.
The hope in her eyes dimmed, she blurted out, "Have you still not recovered that part of your memory?"
"No."
Parker answered truthfully.
But her question about whether he had regained his memories from their time on Saltland Island was enough to prove she had more to say.
His large hand slid from her arm to grasp her tender wrist firmly.
His gaze intensified, his breath hot on her face, "In those lost memories on Saltland Island, did we... Did something happen between us? You kept saying the child isn't Barclay's, what if it's mine? Tiana, tell me, does this child have anything to do with me?"
Tears fell from Tiana's eyes, overwhelmed by his intoxicating tobacco scent and his burning gaze.
Now, without anyone else, without Barclay.
Could she confess...could she admit it? Regardless of the consequences...
After all, it was his unrestrained actions for three days that led to this unexpected situation. It was his fault for not showing restraint.
And her fault, for being foolishly soft-hearted, using helping him with his "cold poison" as an excuse, indulging in the fleeting dream of being with him!
It was a mistake, a massive mistake!
"Is it my child?!"
Seeing her silent, Parker's frustration reignited.
Perhaps, she would give him the answer he desperately sought.
Perhaps, her silence confirmed his suspicions.
"Tiana, just tell me," Parker's voice was hoarse and sharp, his hands brushing against her pale cheek, breaking through her defenses, his lips mere inches from hers, "Stop torturing me. I really can't believe, given your integrity, you would have anything to do with men like Barclay..." "Parker..." Tiana sobbed, her heart fluttering from his touch, "You bastard."
What are they supposed to do about the child?
She couldn't marry him, her status and past would never match up to someone from the Doonan family like him.
And what about his relationship with Endora?
Whitney had explained many times that Parker and Ludwik needed to secure the Lippert family's comeback and defeat Bryce, so Parker had to keep Endora close to prevent her from causing any trouble.
So, Parker was just putting on a show with Endora.
During that half month, Tiana was too angry, too heartbroken to believe Whitney's words.
So, now that the war was over, had he cleared things up with Endora?
If he was single, maybe... just maybe they could take responsibility for this unexpected child?
Tiana's thoughts were a tangled mess.
"Why should I die, Tiana, is it my child? In that lost memory, did I do anything to you?" Parker's lips brushed against her fragrant hair, his hand gripping her waist.
She looked up at him, her eyes wide and lost, "First, tell me, are you done with Endora?"
"Yeah." Parker kissed her hair, hope spreading in his heart as he responded hastily.
Tiana's guard began to lower...
She clenched her fingers tightly, too nervous and embarrassed, so tense her throat felt dry.
She stepped out of his embrace, wanting to find a quiet spot to think about how to fully explain the situation to him, to clarify things without considering their future. Maybe it was better to discuss the unexpected child first, perhaps he could offer some advice as a father. Could she trust him to resolve this matter?
Tiana, conflicted, turned around intending to confess, to tell him the child was conceived during his amnesia-
Just then, her phone rang!
A message popped up. Tiana wasn't planning to check it, but she caught a glimpse of the sender: "Endora." Endora had sent her a message, right at this moment!
A bad feeling surged through her as she opened the message involuntarily.
On the screen, a photo was glaringly conspicuous, taken from Endora's perspective: it was a picture from this morning, with today's date, sunlight illuminating half of a man's devilishly handsome figure in a black leather jacket, casual yet imposing, his luxury wristwatch catching the light as he drank his coffee. Endora was sitting across from him, half of her joyful face visible.
Endora sneered, "Tiana, he was having coffee with me this morning, all cozy and happy. I've been diagnosed as infertile for life, and Parker, he swore he'd never leave me!"
"By the way, I was the one who told him about your little mishap. Suggested it might be Barclay's doing. I asked him to check on you at the hospital, you know, to make sure Barclay hadn't done something worse. He only went to see you to save face for me." "Cut the drama, will you? A woman who gets knocked up so easily, do you really think you're his type?"
"You don't seriously believe Mr. Doonan would ever welcome you into his life, do you? Haha, keep dreaming."
Tiana felt her hot breath turn to ice.
The fury and impulsiveness in her mind were doused with cold water.
He and Endora were all lovey-dovey this morning, they hadn't stopped watching over Endora because of some moral awakening.
He planned to marry Endora, to make up for her shortcomings.
So, what was the point of him coming to the hospital now, asking whose child she was carrying?
He had no intention of taking responsibility. He couldn't.
