Love beyond the mask ( Whitney ) -
Chapter 946
-
Endora's eyes, once ablaze with jealousy and defiance upon hearing Cato's words, suddenly dimmed into a quiet resolve.
She slowly absorbed his suggestion, grabbing her father's smartphone with a cold, bitter laugh. "Dad, Elaine's got the brains, doesn't she? If we can't destroy the paternity test, we'll just destroy the evidence... and the people involved! Let's see how Parker tries to prove his daughter's existence then. Whitney and Tiana, those two snakes, think they can pin this on me and have Parker come after me in a fury? And if Winston finds out the truth, given his temper, he'd wipe our family off the map... We can't let it come to that. We have to erase all traces!" Cato jolted, finally understanding the gravity of the situation with a shiver of fear. "But, this... this is..."
"No child, no wolf," Endora cut in sharply, her gaze turning icy and manic. "You and Elaine handle this. It's time for a diversion... They must have no proof left to stand against us."
Whitney's brow furrowed in concern as she drove to the end of the road leading to Sea Bay.
The gloomy blue waters of Sea Bay bordered a solitary, elegant two-story villa perched near a cliff - undoubtedly a sign of wealth, likely one of Parker's private retreats. And Tiana must be there...
Parking her car swiftly, Whitney barely stepped out when she noticed the villa's approach was blocked by several vehicles.
A helicopter circled above, belonging to the Doonan family, as their bodyguards descended.
Nearby, Winston's Bentley stood with its doors wide open and two armed men in black guarding it. The sight of their guns made Whitney's heart skip a beat.
What was Winston planning? It looked like he was seriously enraged.
No... Concerned for Tiana's safety, Whitney sprinted towards the villa.
At the entrance, she could see Winston, furious and imposing, pointing his cane at two figures inside, confronting Parker, "I gave you half an hour, Parker. Have you made your decision? Hand her over and go home!" "Father, I will not hand her over."
"You fool!" Winston roared, his face purpling with rage. "Are you forcing my hand?"
"Don't force me either!" Parker stood at the doorway, half his face in shadow, his expression a mix of icy determination and defiance.
Respect for his father, a man who had survived through violence and bloodshed, was evident, but Parker's grip on Tiana tightened, refusing to let her go. Never.
"Father, please. I've married this woman. It's not a whim or for show. I want her in my life, no matter what."
"Idiot! Are all other women in the world dead? She has a legitimate daughter with your brother, Barclay! Why her? Her family's fallen, she's a mother out of wedlock, her reputation is in tatters. Barclay marrying her is one thing, but you? As the Doonan family heir, your wife must be beyond reproach. She can't have been involved with your brother, understand? If you tarnish our family's values, you're no son of mine!"
Winston, seething, gestured to his men, his voice cold and ruthless, "Hand it over!"
As one of the men reluctantly passed him a gun, Winston advanced, pointing it directly at Tiana.
"Tiana!" Whitney screamed from behind, racing towards the confrontation, "No, Winston!"
Tiana, frozen in fear at the gun aimed mere meters away, couldn't even turn her head as Whitney's cry echoed. Winston's ferocity was indeed terrifying.
Feeling a sharp pain in her wrist from Parker's grip, she looked down to see his face contorted in a mix of shock and anger, trying to pull her behind him.
"Don't move!" Winston, disappointed in his son's defiance, tightened his grip on the trigger, his voice laced with sorrowful mockery, "If you want to die for her, fine! I can do without an heir like you. Don't worry, she'll follow you in death!"
Bang-a sharp sound echoed as the bullet whizzed past Parker's ear, burrowing into the villa's door.
"Parker..." Tiana, terrified, clung to him, her voice trembling, "Please, let's stop this!"
"I won't! And you're not leaving me!" Parker, wiping the blood from his ear, held her even tighter.
"Father, please stop," Whitney pleaded, trying to break through the line of bodyguards, her face pale with shock. "If you really shoot them, you'll regret it for the rest of your life! Everyone, stop and listen to me!"
"Father, why can't you just be happy for me?" Parker's voice was tight with anger, his usually narrow eyes blazing with fury behind his glasses. "All I want is a woman, why is that so hard? Why does the whole world seem to be against it? She's just a kid, and so what if she's not my flesh and blood? I'm willing to accept her and her mother, it's none of your business!"
"Oh, really? What the hell are you talking about? You're speaking blasphemy, son. That woman has bewitched you. If you dare defy the natural order, I'll take out Tiana myself to prevent any future trouble!"
In a fit of rage, Winston shifted his gun, aiming it right at Tiana's temple!
"You can't kill Tiana!" Whitney screamed with all her might, breaking free from the men in black and running over to stand in front of Winston's gun, bravely raising her hands and closing her eyes tightly. "You all don't understand, the little girl Cherry, she's Parker's biological child.
Cherry isn't Barclay's kid, grandfather, get your facts straight! I've been secretly investigating this, and only today did I get the DNA test results confirming that Parker and Cherry are father and daughter. Everybody, hear this!"
