Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1315: Sending Someone to Follow

The next day, Mark got up at the usual time, washed up and went straight downstairs.

When Earlene saw him approaching, she immediately put down the book in her hand, got up to meet him, looked him up and down, and asked with concern, "How did you sleep?" "Pretty well."

"Well, have you been feeling well?" asked Earlene shyly.

"No."

No?

How could she be fine when she'd obviously had that soup last night?

Earlene was in disbelief, "No, really?"

Mark frowned slightly and asked instead of answering, "Am I supposed to feel bad?"

"Why, of course not." Earlene smiled awkwardly, her eyes sweeping his cold face, her mind wondering.

She had drugged the soup, and since he had drunk it, she couldn't have felt anything at all.

Earlene rolled her eyes and asked again, shyly, "Did you go to see Paulina yesterday?"

Mark looked at her and didn't answer, walking past her to sit in the living room.

Earlene's expression grew colder and the hands that fell to her side clenched into fists as she took a deep breath and turned to face him.

"You went to see Paulina yesterday and I know you felt sorry for her. But don't forget you're with me now." Earlene reminded him. "What do you want to know?" Mark looked up, his cold gaze settling on her face.

"I want to know what you did yesterday."

"Nothing, just hanging out with the kids." Marcos said softly, "And didn't you already know that?"

Earlene's expression turned slightly unnatural for a moment, "What are you talking about? I don't understand."

Marcos hooked his lips coolly, "You didn't send someone to follow me?

I knew it!

Earlene panicked, but quickly calmed down, "I was worried about you, that's why I sent someone to follow you." That was just her excuse.

Mark knew in his heart the real reason she had sent someone to follow him.

But on the surface he still acted as if he believed her and nodded without saying anything else.

After breakfast, Earlene went upstairs to the den, pulled out her cell phone and made a call.

As soon as she got it, she asked, "Why didn't the medicine take effect?"

The other party, probably a little confused, was silent for a few seconds before asking, "Has something happened?"

"She took the pills and they didn't have any effect, and she remembers what happened yesterday." Earlene just thought about what had happened yesterday with Paulina and it was like a thorn in her heart, diaphragmatically. "How did that happen?" There was something strange on the other side too.

She had upped the dose, it was impossible that it hadn't worked at all.

Earlene scoffed, "I was going to ask how that could be."

"It's probably because the dose was too high and caused the drug to develop resistance, you should wait another two days."

The other woman's speculation caused Earlene's anger to subside a bit, she took a deep breath and said, "Okay, I'll wait two more days. If it still doesn't work, we'll increase the dosage again."

Once Earlene went upstairs, Mark followed her just in time to see her enter the study.

Her expression quivered and she slowed her steps, slowly approaching the study.

The door to the study was unlocked and he listened to everything Earlene said, word for word.

Once he heard that she had indeed been drugged, his expression instantly sank and his dark eyes became covered with a thin layer of ice.

...

At the same time, Paulina handed Alfredo the handkerchief with Marcos' blood on it and asked him to give it to Almeida.

She then called Almeida and told him, asking in passing, "When can we expect the results?"

"We will do it as soon as possible." Almeida could not give an exact time either.

The investigation was not going to be finished in a few days.

"Okay, I'll wait for your good news."

After hanging up the phone, Paulina breathed a long sigh of relief, now she was waiting for Almeida's good news from them.

Paulina went downstairs and saw Dulce sitting quietly and alone in the living room, wondering what she was thinking.

She approached and asked with concern, "What are you doing, Aunt?".

The sudden noise startled Dulce, she turned her head to see that it was Paulina and gave a feigned look of displeasure, "Why are you walking around quietly?" Paulina laughed, "It's because you were thinking too much that you didn't hear my footsteps."

Sitting down across from her, Paulina asked curiously, "Tia, you seem to be preoccupied these last two days, is something bothering you?"

"I ..." Dulce looked at her with a worried face and debated whether to tell her about Edwina.

On second thought, thinking she and Edwina were friends, she let it go and made a random excuse.

"He's not your brother-in-law, he's on a business trip again and I don't know when he'll be back this time."

At this, Paulina couldn't help but laugh, "You keep missing your brother-in-law when he's here, and you miss him when he's not."

"Who said I miss him?". Dulce was quick to deny, "I was just wondering if we should have an engagement party for your cousin and Elva."

"An engagement party?" Paulina frowned, "Auntie, is this grandpa still in the hospital? It's not appropriate, is it?"

"I know, but if we don't have an engagement party, your cousin won't recognize the marriage." Dulce was in a difficult position.

"Auntie, there are some things I probably shouldn't say, but I still want to talk to you about them."

"If you have something you want to say, say it, you're not a stranger."

Dulce had said it, so Paulina spoke bluntly, "I think you and your brother-in-law should put yourselves in your cousin's shoes and not force him to do something he doesn't like." "You mean about the union thing?" asked Dulce.

Paulina nodded, "Well. Since your cousin doesn't like it, you shouldn't force him."

"Paulina, you're still young and some things may not be as well thought out as your brother-in-law and I." At that, Dulce sighed, "We're also doing it for Edgar's sake." "But your kind of good isn't always really good." said Paulina.

"So what do you think is really good?" Dulce asked.

"Respecting my cousin's choice."

Dulce laughed, "Respecting his choice is letting him fool around."

Seeing that her persuasion wasn't working, Paulina declined to continue, sighed and said, "I hope you and your brother-in-law don't regret it."

"There's no way we'll regret it." Dulce always thought that what she and her husband had done was the right thing to do and was really good for Edgar.

"Let's hope so." Paulina said no more.

Instead, Dulce had another idea in mind.

Even Paulina was in favor of Edgar being with that woman, so it seemed it was better to start with that woman, she had to be made to leave Edgar.

If the Boone family found out, things would get very complicated.

So, he had to find a way to make that woman stay away!
