Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1316: This is too much!

Edwina had taken some time off since the last time Elva had gone to the store and caused trouble. She thought she would soon get a call from the manager asking her to come back to work.

The call was received, but it wasn't to get her back to work.

"Edwina, it's a head office decision and I can't do anything about it."

The manager's helpless voice came from the other end of the phone.

Edwina tugged reluctantly at the corner of her mouth, "Why, why did you fire me, is it because of what happened last time?"

"I'll tell you the truth. It was because of the last incident, and the reason given by the home office was that they don't hire employees of questionable character."

"Questionable character?" Edwina thought she had misheard. "I've been working at the restaurant for a few years now, and you know perfectly well what kind of person I am, manager."

"Of course I believe you. But no matter how I explain it, the head office insists on firing you."

"I can't accept that." said Edwina.

The manager sighed, "I'll keep fighting for you, you'll wait to hear from me."

Hearing the manager say that, Edwina felt apologetic, "I'm sorry, manager, for the inconvenience."

"It's no trouble at all, I hope you'll stay too."

They chatted briefly for a few more minutes before hanging up the phone.

The more Edwina thought about it, the more she felt something was wrong. When it first happened, there had been no movement from the home office, how come, instead, they had suspended her for a while before the home office gave the result of the punishment?

The thought that she might lose her job irritated her.

If she lost her job again, she and Bonnie would have to drink the wind.

Whatever happened, she had to keep her job.

But reality was harsh, and the manager was quick to call her.

"Edwina, I'm sorry, the head office is still hell-bent on firing you. But don't worry, I'll introduce you to a new job."

Edwina knew that the manager had done her best and that she couldn't bother people anymore, "Thank you, manager." "Take a few more days off and I'll contact you when a job comes up."

"Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Edwina plopped down on the couch in despair.

The job was really gone.

Before she could think about it, her phone suddenly rang.

It was Alger.

She picked it up, "Hello."

"Edwina, I hear you've been fired, is it true?" Alger's anxious voice sounded on the other end of the line.

Edwina emitted a soft "hmm."

"Shit, you've really been fired.".

Edwina took a deep breath and chuckled to herself, "I should have expected this."

"I'm glad you thought of it."

Alger's voice sounded like he was angry.

Edwina couldn't help but lose her smile, "I was fired, why are you angry?"

"How can I not be angry, do you know why you were fired? It's because someone said hello to the head of the headquarters." Edwina frowned, "Who?".

"That's what I heard, so don't get excited when you hear it." Alger warned her in advance before naming the person.

"Go ahead." Edwina could guess who it was.

Who else could it be but Elva?

"I heard it was someone from the Khan family."

A completely unexpected answer.

Edwina's eyes widened, "Someone from the Khan family?"

"Hmm. Maybe Edgar's mother, if I'm not mistaken."

Edgar's mother!

Edwina remembered the day of the upset, when Dulce had warned her that she wouldn't let her get away with it as long as she didn't leave Edgar. Was it really Dulce who wanted her to be fired from the chief's office?

Not hearing her voice for a long while, Alger became concerned, "Edwina, are you all right?"

Edwina, who was drawn to the voice, closed her eyes, "I'm fine."

"Edwina, if she really is Edgar's mother, I want you to rethink your relationship with Edgar."

Alger didn't want her to be hurt by the relationship.

"Thank you, Wren."

Edwina hung up the phone, angry and devastated.

What right did Dulce have to do this?

Just because she wouldn't accept her feelings for Edgar?

It was too much!

It was outrageous!

Edwina couldn't take it anymore. She grabbed her jacket from the sofa and went outside.

She had to find Dulce and ask her about it!

...

"All settled? Well then, thanks for your help."

Paulina walked into the dining room just in time to hear Dulce talking on the phone, so she walked over and asked nonchalantly, "Auntie, who are you talking to on the phone?" "With a friend." Dulce replied blandly.

"Ah." Paulina asked no more questions, and with a twist, said, "Esteban and Sweety want to eat the cookies you made."

Dulce smiled, "Sure, I'll make them now."

"I'll help you."

The two laughed and joked as they headed for the kitchen when the butler rushed in, "Ma'am, Mrs. Edwina is here."

"Mrs. Edwina?" said Paulina, seeing Dulce's face, which had been full of smiles, instantly change and become somewhat somber.

She furrowed her brow, "Is it Weed?".

Dulce didn't answer, but walked briskly out.

Paulina hurriedly followed her.

Edwina didn't expect Paulina to be there and froze, but quickly replied, "Aunt, Mrs. Paulina."

"Edwina, what brings you here?" asked Paulina, puzzled, as she approached.

"I ..." Edwina looked at Dulce, "I've come to ask Auntie something."

At that, Paulina turned her head to look at Dulce, thoughtfully, and smiled, "Then you two talk, I'll go to the kitchen and make cookies for the baby."

When Paulina had gone, Dulce spoke coldly, "What are you doing here? I don't think we have anything to talk about."

"Tia, why did you ask the boss to fire me?" asked Edwina bluntly.

Dulce didn't expect her to be so blunt, she smiled and justified herself, "You broke up someone's relationship, you already had a questionable character, shouldn't you have been fired?" Edwina laughed, "Tia, do you really know me, how can you just denigrate me?".

"I don't know you, but you did ruin Edgar and Elva's relationship, I didn't hurt you in that, did I?".

Edwina took a deep breath, "Tia, I never broke their relationship, they were the ones who were never together, how could I break their relationship?"

Dulce was not happy to hear this, "What do you mean they were never together? They were engaged to be married, and you ruin their relationship by being with Edgar?".

"But Edgar doesn't like her!" Edwina was a little agitated, "Why does he insist on Edgar marrying her?"
