Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1403: For the sake of getting my revenge
It was a breezy day in F Country.
In a historic manor house, Earlene stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking out at the lawn and trees of the manor house, her eyes were gray and dull, without a single ray of light. If it weren't for the sunlight streaming in through the glass windows, making her squint unconsciously, I would have thought she was dead. No.
She was dead.
Her heart was dead.
Her heart hadn't made much noise at home, and if it hadn't been for the glamour of her funeral, no one would have really known she was dead. Earlene reached up and gently touched her cheek, the corners of her mouth slowly curving up.
Mark must not have thought she was still alive.
Back then, in the guardhouse, she had been dizzy at times after drinking the soup Winston had brought her, but it had been brief.
Until it got worse, and after a violent dizziness, what happened next was completely unknown to her.
When he awoke, he thought he had just had a long sleep.
For he had not slept so soundly since his capture.
But as soon as he opened his eyes, he was startled by the unfamiliar surroundings he found himself in and immediately sat up from the bed. "You're awake."
A familiar voice rang in her ears, and when she turned her head, it was Winston.
She looked up at him blankly, "Is this where I am?"
"This is my estate in F." Winston replied.
"Country F?" Earlene frowned, "How'd you get me out of the dungeon?"
"I brought you some soup that was laced with a drug."
Earlene's frown tightened, "A drug?"
"Well, a drug that makes people fake their own death."
"Fake death?" Earlene lowered her head, "So now I'm dead?"
"To others, yes." Winston's mouth curved, "After that you are no longer Earlene, Blythe Boothroyd."
"Blythe Boothroyd," Earlene muttered the name.
"Don't worry, I'll avenge you and take back what they hurt you for, little by little."
With Winston's words still ringing in her ears, Earlene gathered her thoughts and her eyes slowly narrowed.
It truly seemed to her that a lifetime had passed.
It was as if she had returned from a great tribulation, a rebirth.
Mark.
The man she had loved so much, the man she had tried so hard to keep by her side.
But in the end, the man wouldn't stay, and he sent her to the dungeon without mercy.
If he could be so merciless, don't blame her for turning the other cheek.
From then on, she had no more love for Marcos, only hate.
She would never let Marcos, the Leoz family, get away with this.
Winston opened the door and stepped softly into the room, just in time to see the grimace on her face. "Thinking about Marcos again?"
Earlene came to her senses and immediately collected all her thoughts, "Why did you come in quietly?" "Earlene, forget about Marcos." Winston hugged her.
Earlene frowned slightly and didn't push him away.
"I don't like the grimace on your face."
With that said, Winston released her and turned her to look at him.
She looked down, her gaze locked on his face, and continued, "You're very pretty, you should smile."
"I can't smile." Earlene said coldly.
"I know you're in the mood for revenge right now." Said Winston as he pulled out a human skin mask, "Put it on, from now on you are Blythe and Earlene is dead." Earlene took it, felt the material of the mask and scoffed, "Do I have to wear this mask for the rest of my life?"
"No." Winston took her chin and lifted it so they were face to face. "I'm trying to protect you, and if you don't like it, you can keep it on."
"No, I don't dislike it. I just don't want to wear a mask for the rest of my life."
At that, Earlene's eyes clouded over, "I'll take the mask off when I've had my revenge."
Winston smiled, "Good."
Earlene looked at Winston, she knew he had always liked her.
She curved her red lips, "Will you help me?"
Winston raised an eyebrow, saying neither yes nor no.
"I'm going to put an end to the Leoz Group for good." Earlene's face was fierce.
"I'll help you." Winston said, "But you should know what I want."
Earlene's mouth curved, "Even of course. Whether it's my person or my heart, if you want it, I'll give it to you all the way."
Winston's eyes sparkled and he lifted his arms around her waist, pressing himself against her and lowering his head to kiss her lips.
Earlene slowly closed her eyes.
She would do anything to get her revenge.
...
J-Town.
In the evening there was a business reception to which Mark had been invited.
It was the first public event he had attended since he had rejoined the Leoz Group.
"Will you be nervous?" Paulina looked at the man next to her, he seemed so light that it was impossible to tell what was going through his head at that moment. Marcos gave her a sidelong glance, the corners of his mouth curved into a slight curve, "What do you think?"
"Of course I'm not nervous." Paulina lifted her chin, "You're Marcos, how can you be nervous?".
She spoke with a particular tone of pride.
Marcos laughed, "Actually I'm a little nervous."
"Huh?" Paulina thought she had misheard.
Marcos took her hand between his, "But I'm not nervous with you by my side."
Paulina's heart burst with sweetness, "Then I'll always be by your side."
Marcos looked at her and smiled with satisfaction.
The reception was lavish, with the elite and the choicest, and the sound of the cello flowed through the crowd.
"Mr. Marcos, thank you for coming to the reception." The reception organizer, a middle-aged man in his forties, smiled and shook Marcos' hand.
"Thank you for the invitation." Marcos politely returned the greeting.
The other man, knowing he was always at a loss for words, chatted briefly and walked away.
"Are you hungry?" Marcos turned to Paulina and asked.
They hadn't eaten at dinner because they had come to the reception.
"A little." Paulina looked toward the buffet table, not far away.
Mark followed her with his eyes and a fond smile tugged at the corners of his lips, "Come closer and eat."
Just as they were about to approach, a man walked up and stopped them.
"Mr. Marcos."
The other man was a very young, good-looking mulatto.
But Marcos and Paulina did not know him.
"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself." The man seemed to have noticed, "Hi, I'm Chris. I've heard a lot about Mr. Marcos and today I see he's really something else." Marcos looked at him, his handsome face unperturbed and his thin lips half-open, "Hello."
Chris was unfazed by his nonchalance and smiled slightly, "We'll have to work together sometime."
Before Mark could respond, a familiar voice came from behind him.
"Chris."
Chris looked at the voice and greeted him with a big smile, "Mr. Rawlins, long time no see."
Mark and Paulina turned their heads, only to see Chris and Rawlins hugging.
Paulina frowned, did they know each other?
