Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1425: Ringing
"I'm sorry, I just didn't want you to worry."
Marcos hugged Paulina and whispered in her ear.
Actually Paulina was just anxious and wasn't really angry.
"I'm Esteban's mother and I didn't even know what he was going through until you told me the truth."
Paulina's voice was a little breathy.
She really felt for Esteban, how old he was and how much he needed treatment for his mental illness, and she couldn't imagine how he was going through all these days.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have kept this from you." Marcos hugged her tightly, "Besides not wanting you to worry, the most important thing is that Esteban wouldn't feel well if he knew you were so worried about him, and it wouldn't be good for the treatment then."
"So what should I do?" Paulina raised her head.
Mark looked down, and all four eyes met.
A faint smile tugged at the corners of Mark's mouth and he said warmly, "Pretend you don't know anything and everything is the same as before." "Good." Paulina nodded, doing what she had to do as long as it was good for Esteban.
Just...
"How is Esteban now?" asked Paulina.
It had been a few days since the violin teacher had learned of Esteban's corporal punishment, and the psychological treatment must have had some effect. "Pretty good." Marcos let go of her and looked her in the eyes with concern, "You know Manuel's experience, so you have to trust him, Esteban will be fine." "Of course I trust Manuel," Paulina took a deep breath, "but still, my heart aches for Esteban."
"I know." Marcos stroked her head, "Trust Manuel and trust Esteban too, he is our son and he will never fail us."
Paulina nodded vigorously and said nothing more.
...
As soon as she got home in the evening, Paulina ran up the stairs.
"Is this what's wrong?" asked Mrs. Gloria worriedly as she saw how anxious she was and thought something had happened. Marcos answered lightly, "Nothing, I just wanted to see how Esteban was doing."
Paulina approached the door to Esteban's room and looked at the closed door and suddenly felt a pang of uneasiness.
Thinking about what had happened to Esteban during this time, she felt nothing but grief and self-recrimination.
If he had not lacked concern for Stephen in general, he would not have failed to notice Stephen's psychological problems.
As of today, he had to worry about Esteban even more than before.
He opened the door and walked in.
Esteban was sitting at his desk looking intently at a book.
"Esteban."
Approaching, Paulina called softly.
At the sound of her voice, Esteban turned his head and a big smile broke out on his face, "Mama."
She stroked his head and asked softly, "How are you feeling today, how are you getting along with your classmates at school?" "Very well."
Stephen looked away a little because he hadn't been at school.
Seeing him like that made Paulina's heart feel even harder and distressed.
She knew he was hiding the truth because he was afraid to worry.
Ever since he was a child, he had always been very understanding.
He was so understanding that it was heartbreaking.
At the thought of this, the corners of Paulina's eyes couldn't help but water. She hastily turned her head to the side and reached up to wipe the corners of her eyes, wearing a relaxed, happy expression as she said, "Come on, let's go downstairs for dinner. When we're done eating, Mom will walk you down to set up the Lego, okay?".
Esteban's eyes widened in surprise as he heard this, "Mom, really?".
Paulina nodded her head, "Yes."
After all, all she could do now was spend more time with him.
After dinner, Sweety screamed for Paulina to play with her, but Paulina refused.
"Sweety, I have promised my brother that I will put Lego together with him, so I can't stay with you today, can I tomorrow?".
Sweety burst into tears with a loud "wow".
"I want mommy to stay with me too, I want mommy to stay with me too ..."
"Sweety," Paulina knelt down and took her in her arms, "Did Mom ever tell you to do what you promised?"
Sweety smiled, her eyes glistening with tears, looking pitiful.
Paulina wiped the tears from her cheeks and coaxed her gently, "Sweety's a good girl, isn't she?"
"But she just wants Mommy to stay with her ..." Sweety blinked and tears rolled down her face again.
"Sweety, Grandma will stay with you, okay?" asked Mrs. Gloria kindly as she approached.
Sweety didn't answer, she stared at Paulina.
"Sweety be good, Grandma is staying with you too." Paulina smiled kindly, "Sweety, mommy will stay with you again tomorrow, ok?". Sweety wiped away her tears and said, "Don't cheat, Mommy."
"No, I won't."
With her reassurance, Sweety took Sra.
Paulina spent the rest of the afternoon with Esteban, building Lego with him and reading him stories until he went to bed.
Marcos knew what was going through her head and said nothing.
Only when she went to her room, he asked worriedly, "Was it okay?".
Paulina smiled faintly, "Fine."
Mark took her in his arms, "I know it must be hard for you, but take your time and everything will be fine."
Paulina opened her arms and wrapped them around his waist, burying her face in his arms, and let out a muffled "mmm".
...
The loss of La familia Cajigas made little difference to Rawlins and Chris, who had joined forces with several other companies to try to steal some projects from Grupo Leoz in recent days. "Brother, I thought that with La familia Cajigas as a precedent they would have held back a bit, but they haven't, and they're even going further and further!".
Alvaro gets more and more furious as he speaks.
If they hadn't been watching the Rawlins' every move, they would have had several projects taken away from them.
"It would be surprising if they squeezed." Marcos shot him a look, "Haven't you noticed they've learned to be cautious?"
"Huh?" Alvaro frowned, "You mean they've split up some companies to take on Grupo Leoz?"
"They did that at the beginning, but this time, in addition to doing that, they have played in tandem, sonado."
In Marcos' dark eyes a glimmer of interest arose, the corners of his lips curved in a seemingly unnoticed way; he liked that in an adversary.
If it was too easy to solve, there would be no sense of accomplishment.
Alvaro nodded, "Indeed. At first I thought they were trying to steal that project in the east of the city, but who knew they were actually targeting another project. It's very clever."
If they hadn't been prepared, they would have fallen into the trap.
"Well, be more vigilant and be more careful after this." Mark said, "They won't give up just because they failed."
"Don't worry about that, brother, I'll keep my guard up." promised Alvaro with a pat on the back.
"Trust you."
Alvaro narrowed his eyes, "Now we have a big project with a foreign country, and they are sure to get their hands dirty. We can use this opportunity to hit them hard."
