Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1447: He's Not Shallow
At the look on the crowd's face, Blythe walked straight up to Mark and held out her hand, a bright smile piled on her magnificent face, "I've heard a lot about you, Mr. Mark." Looking closely at Blythe's somewhat false face, Paulina shuddered for no reason.
It was obvious she was smiling, but why was she giving her the creeps?
Without shaking her hand, Mark said nonchalantly, "Hi."
Blythe pulled her hand away with a sarcastic look, but quickly returned to normal, "I'm glad you could make it today."
She then looked at Paulina and asked with a smile, "You're Mr. Marcos' wife, Paulina, right?"
Paulina nodded her head, "Hello."
"I've heard a lot about you, Mrs. Leoz is a beauty."
The compliment is not genuine.
Paulina is unimpressed and says modestly, "I don't even go near Ms. Blythe."
"Is that so?" Blythe looks surprised and says, half jokingly, half seriously, "If I'm really prettier than you, why doesn't Mr. Marcos give me a second glance?" Marcos' brow furrowed.
Paulina was taken aback, then reacted and burst out laughing, "He's not that shallow."
"Oh, that's right." It dawned on Blythe and she continued, "Mrs. Leoz is a blessing."
"Thank you." Paulina returned the smile with a drop of grace.
Blythe's gaze returned to Marcos' face, embarrassed, "We have a bit of a crowd here today, so if there is any lack of hospitality, please forgive me." Marcos nodded and said nothing.
A hint of disappointment crossed Blythe's eyes, but she kept the smile on her face, "I hope you have a good time."
With that, he turned and walked toward the rest of the guests.
Watching her in the background, Paulina frowned and whispered, "She really is a little strange."
"Let's be discreet." Marcos said.
Paulina said "hmmm" and, with a change of pace, smiled, "I'm hungry and want something to eat."
Marcos led her to the buffet area.
Blythe was talking to someone and pretended not to turn around when she saw Paulina with her plate and Marcos walking around the corner.
Her grip on her glass suddenly tightened, a shiver covered her beautiful face as she fixed a venomous, stinging gaze on Marcos and the others. The diners around her shuddered.
"Is the air conditioning on too low? Why is it a little chilly?" one of the guests asked curiously.
"I'm feeling a little chilly myself." This guest caught a glimpse of Blythe's face out of the corner of his eye and immediately signaled the others with his eyes.
The others looked at Blythe and, seeing that she did not look well, looked at each other, worried that they had said something wrong to upset her.
"Sister Blythe, what's wrong with you?" one man asked in a big, bold whisper.
The voice brought Blythe back to reality, she pulled herself together, resumed her full smile and said, "Nothing, it just occurred to me that there was work left to do and I was in a bit of a bad mood." "Sister Blythe is really responsible."
"It would be a real pleasure to work with Sister Blythe."
"Yes, yes."
Everyone racked their brains to praise Blythe and tried to pull her so their company could work with JR.
But Blythe was all smiles to everyone and it wasn't at all clear that she wanted to work with anyone.
...
"I want to go to the bathroom." Paulina walked over to Marcos and whispered in his ear.
Marcos was talking to someone and would have liked to join her, but Paulina declined.
"It's just a bathroom break, it'll be fine."
With that, Paulina picked up her steps and left, Marcos could only watch helplessly as she ran off in the direction of the bathroom.
"Mr. Marcos, AI for this ..."
Marcos came back to his senses as he and the other man continued to talk about the AI's appearance.
Paulina finished using the restroom and came out, ready to wash her hands, just in time to see Blythe enter.
With a polite nod, she bowed her head and washed her hands.
Blythe headed straight for Paulina, who looked at the woman approaching her in the mirror and put up layers of defenses.
She straightened up, pulled out a piece of paper and, as she wiped her hands, asked in a seemingly careless manner, "Is Miss Blythe going to put on makeup?"
Blythe stood beside her and smoothed her hair in the mirror before turning her head to look at her, smiling Dulce, "No, I've come to see you."
"You're looking for me?" Paulina was a little surprised, "You were looking for me for something?"
"Nothing important either. It's just that I heard that Mrs. Leoz and Mr. Marcos are very much in love, and now I see that they are."
I don't know if it was just me, but her voice sounded a little strange.
Paulina smiled slightly, "With more experience comes a deeper bond."
Was she bragging about herself?
A hint of melancholy surfaced under Blythe's eyes, but the smile remained on her face. "Can you tell me about what you've been through?" "We..." Paulina gave her an anxious look and turned her words around, apologetically, "Sorry, it's a personal matter between Mark and me, so....."
She didn't put words in her mouth, she was sure Blythe would understand what she meant.
Blythe shot a look of understanding and turned to smile, "Okay, I understand."
"If there's nothing else, I'll go."
Paulina nodded at her and walked out.
Once outside the bathroom, she let out a long sigh of relief.
She looked back into the bathroom and saw that Blythe was still standing by the sink, watching her.
With an inexplicable start, she hastily withdrew her gaze and walked quickly toward the ballroom.
Blythe withdrew her gaze and looked at herself in the mirror, her beautiful face contorted into a jealous grimace.
"What kind of feelings are those that naturally come out when you have more experience?" she let out a laugh, "I had less experience with Mark? If it weren't for me, he'd be dead."
As she said this, the heartache of being let down by Marcos returned and she covered her chest, gritting her teeth, "Paulina, I will never let you go! I'll be sure to taste the pain I felt in the first place." "Miss Blythe!"
A few celebrities came in two by two, surprised to see her, and shouted.
Blythe instantly collected all her emotions, turned around, smiled at them and nodded, then left.
Her chin was slightly raised and she looked arrogant, like a noble princess.
The celebrities watched her leave in a daze, taking a while to come to their senses.
"Although I don't like her, I can't deny that she's really beautiful and noble!" Said one celebrity with slight resignation.
Another celebrity sighed, "She's the honorary daughter of the JR Group's chairman, can't she be noble?"
"Yes, we'd better make friends with her, maybe we can even work with our family's company."
But all the guests who came to this dinner had the intention of wanting to cooperate with JR Group.
