Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1478: Are you afraid your wife will disappear?
Grandpa Khan looked at Paulina and the two children with an unbroken smile on his face and his whole mood was noticeably better than usual.
Dulce couldn't help but sigh, "Paulina, your grandfather is in much better spirits when he sees them, it would be nice if you stayed with him every day."
At that, Paulina turned her head towards the old man and pursed her lips, "I wish I could be with grandpa every day, but Esteban and Sweety have to study and I have to work. But..." He turned his words around, "Communication is so easy now, Grandpa can always send us a video if he misses us."
Grandpa Khan smiled and nodded, "Well, yes, I will video you guys whenever I miss you ah in the future."
As much as he would like his children to be around, he is aware that they all have their own things to do.
"Mrs. Paulina, have some coffee." Edwina approached with the coffee.
"Thank you." Paulina smiled at her, took the coffee and took a sip.
Dulce took Edwina's hand and was filled with a satisfied smile, "It's thanks to Edwina's care these past few days that your grandfather has recovered so quickly."
Dulce had seen all of Edwina's uncompromising care for her grandfather over the past few days.
She hadn't expected a young woman to be willing to care for an old man, and besides being surprised, she was more than touched.
Edwina felt a little embarrassed by the compliment, "Mom, this is what I should do."
At that moment, the old man spoke up smiling, "The most surprising thing about waking up this time is that Edgar got married."
Paulina noticed that the old man was looking at Edwina with approval in his eyes, and it seemed that the old man was very happy with this granddaughter-in-law. Just as she thought this, she heard the old man continue, "Edwina is a good girl, and Edgar has a good eye."
Having lived most of his life, he could see at once that Edwina was a simple-minded, good-hearted girl.
He had more or less heard Dulce mention her opposition to her and Edgar being together at the time, and he couldn't help but feel more than a little sorry for the girl. Perhaps if he had been there, the girl's relationship with Edgar would not have been so turbulent.
Edwina, her face red with embarrassment, got up hurriedly and said, "I'll go cut some fruit for you."
Watching her run off, Paulina couldn't help but lose her smile, "After all this time, Edwina still has such thin skin."
Dulce laughed and shook her head, "Yes, too thin skinned, she still needs more exercise. Otherwise, how am I going to feel comfortable leaving the big and small affairs of The Khan Family in her hands in the future." The Khan family has a large family and there are many occasions when she needs to socialize.
It seems she needs to be taken out more often to see the world.
At the mention of this, Paulina asked, "How are the birthday party preparations coming along?"
"It's almost ready, we're just waiting for your grandfather's birthday."
The old man frowned a little disapprovingly, "Actually, I'm already old, there's no need for all this fuss. It's enough if we eat together as a family."
"Grandpa, it's your 80th birthday, such an important day definitely needs to be livened up." Paulina laughed.
Grandpa shook his head, "It's too much trouble."
Paulina and Dulce looked at each other and added, "Grandpa, as long as you live a long life and are safe and sound, we'll be happy, how can we find it troublesome."
"You are the only girl who knows how to make people happy." The old man said cheerfully.
"As long as you are happy, you will live a long and healthy life and become younger and younger."
The old man laughed even more, "I see, Sweety has such a sweet mouth, it goes with you."
He was quiet for a few seconds and said, "Forget it, I'm getting old too, you young people can do whatever you want."
"Grandpa is the best." Paulina put her arms around him and rested her head affectionately on his shoulder.
Afterwards, the old man and Marcos had a little chat, which consisted of asking him about business matters.
Although Marcos had lost his memory, he was still able to answer questions with aplomb and acquitted himself admirably.
The more he looked at him, the more pleased he became and said to the others, "How wonderful it would be if Mark were my grandson."
Paulina, hearing this, said, "Grandpa, if your cousin heard you say that, how sad he would be."
Speaking in silver.
Edgar walked into the pavilion with a smile on his face just in time to hear Paulina's words and asked curiously, "Why am I sad?"
He then greeted everyone in his ward one by one before asking, "Grandpa, do you and Paulina speak ill of me?"
"How dare we talk bad about you with so many people around?". Paulina smiled and shot him a look.
"Oh?" Edgar raised an eyebrow, "Does that mean you're going to talk bad about me when no one's around?" "Cousin!"
Edgar let out a laugh, "I'm just teasing you."
"How's your health today, Grandpa?" Edgar looked at the old man and asked with concern.
"Much better than yesterday. Are you finished with your work?" the old man looked at the time, it wasn't time to leave work yet, so he asked more. "Aren't Paulina and the others coming? I finished my work early and hurried to come."
She looked around, "Where is Edwina?"
Seeing this, Paulina couldn't help but scoff, "Afraid your wife is missing?".
Edgar cooperated, "You were right."
The fact that Edwina had left without saying goodbye had darkened his heart.
Of course, he knew it was impossible for Edwina to leave him again now.
"Edwina went to cut the fruit." said Paulina.
Edgar said "Oh" and said no more.
Paulina said a few more words to the old man and then went out to find Edwina.
Edwina was in the living room kitchen, cutting fruit, and when she saw her come in, she smiled and said, "Grandpa looks so much better when he sees you." Paulina came over to help her wash the fruit, "Actually, it's thanks to you for taking care of him."
Edwina lifted her lips and smiled, "It's what I'm supposed to do."
"How have you been?" asked Paulina.
"Not too bad. The days are pretty full." Edwina turned her head and smiled at her.
Paulina smiled back, "That's good."
The two cut up the fruit and carried a plate of each to the old man's hospital room.
Unaware of what Edgar had said, the old man lay back in his hospital bed and laughed, even Mark had a faint smile on his lips.
Paulina felt her whole heart soften at the sight of this scene.
It felt good to be together as a family.
It was only in the evening that Agustina returned.
When Paulina arrived earlier, she did not see her mother and learned from her sister-in-law that she had gone to buy a gift for the old man. Agustina was carrying a gift bag and Paulina hurried to take it and opened it to look at it, raising her eyebrows in surprise.
Her mother's gift was a pair of go.
"The pieces are made of jade and are from a famous master." Agustina introduced her.
Paulina knew the old man liked to play chess and immediately said, "Grandpa must be delighted to receive this gift."
Agustina smiled back, "Let's hope so."
Although the old man woke up and didn't blame her, she always felt guilty in her heart.
Hopefully, she could use the days ahead to make up for the past obligations she had as a daughter.
