Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1479: As Long As Your Dad Is Willing
Paulina and her mother entered the living room with a smile, just in time to see Edgar helping the old man into his wheelchair. "Cousin, is it time to push Grandpa down?" asked Paulina suspiciously as she stepped forward to help.
"I've made reservations at the hotel and tonight we'll have dinner together as a family."
Paulina looked at the old man and asked uneasily, "Is it all right with the doctor for Grandpa to go out in his present condition?"
Edgar turned his head to look at her and laughed softly, "Don't worry, the doctor agrees. I've also arranged for a medical team to accompany him, so if there's an emergency, we can respond at any time." "That's good." Paulina breathed a sigh of relief.
She bent down and helped the old man straighten his neck, "Grandfather, are you in a good mood today?"
The old man smiled cheerfully, "With you around, can Grandpa be in a bad mood?".
Paulina took his hand and the smile on his face grew even bigger.
That night, the family had a happy dinner and returned together to The Khan family's old house to rest early in preparation for the birthday party the day after tomorrow.
...
The day before the birthday party, Dulce took Ms. Gloria, Paulina and Edwina to the beauty salon.
Dulce is a VIP at the club and was greeted warmly by the staff as soon as she entered and taken to the second floor.
On the stairs to the second floor, she met Elva's mother coming down the stairs.
Elva's mother's gaze swept over the people behind Dulce and lingered on Edwina for a few more seconds before returning to Dulce's face.
"It's been a long time, Dulce."
Dulce smiled and replied, "Yes, it has been a long time."
"How are things going with the old man?" asked Elva's mother.
"Not too bad." Dulce turned the tables and asked, "Isn't Elva with you?"
"Isn't tomorrow the old man's eightieth birthday? She's busy picking out a present for the old man."
"That's right." Dulce smiled, not knowing for a moment what to say.
The atmosphere was a little awkward for a moment.
"I'll leave you then." Elva's mother nodded to Dulce and then walked down the stairs past them.
Dulce stood still and turned her head to look in the direction she had gone, feeling a little uncomfortable.
Paulina realized that something was wrong with her and asked worriedly, "What's the matter, Aunt?"
Dulce smiled faintly, "Nothing."
She and Elva's mother had been close friends for many years, but their relationship had been strained by the previous marriage.
Although they had not ignored each other before, she could clearly sense that the relationship had drifted apart.
Paulina took Dulce's arm and smiled reassuringly, "Don't think too much about it, Aunt. We're here to relax with a beauty treatment, have fun." Dulce smiled, "It's okay, I know."
Ms. Gloria and Paulina were in the same room when the beauty treatment was over.
Ms. Gloria asked about what had just happened, "Is that the Boone family?".
"Yes. It's Elva's mother. Weren't The Terrazas Family and The Boone Family going to be united in marriage earlier? Then it was canceled and The Boone Family got angry and the two families don't see each other much anymore." "That must be angry." Ms. Gloria reached up to touch her face mask and continued, "But Edwina is a good girl and the most important thing is that your cousin likes him, which is more important than anything else." "Yes."
Paulina gave her a sidelong glance, then they both fell silent and said nothing more.
After the beauty treatment, Dulce took them to pick out their dresses again.
It wasn't until it was almost dark that the group arrived home.
"I'm so tired." Paulina slumped on the couch.
"Why do you look more tired than when you went out, when you went for a beauty treatment to relax." Agustina stepped forward and helped her straighten her hair, which was a bit of a mess. "And we went to pick out a dress."
At the mention of that, Paulina immediately sat up and pulled the bag she had just set aside closer. "Mom, I picked out a cheongsam for you, it's especially pretty."
With that, she took a box out of the bag and opened it, inside was a cheongsam with a dark red bottom.
Dulce walked over and said, "This cheongsam is really pretty, the cuffs and neckline are adorned with gold, and the flowers embroidered on it are not tacky at all, the whole person's temperament will be different when wearing it." Agustina laughed out loud at Dulce's compliment, "The cheongsam does look nice, but it's not as over the top as you paint it."
"You'll see if I exaggerate when you wear it." Dulce grabbed the cheongsam with one hand and pulled it up with the other.
Seeing this, Edwina exclaimed, "Mom and Auntie are very close."
Paulina heard this and turned her head to look at her, nodding, "People who don't know this think they are sisters." Edwina busied herself nodding, "I feel the same way."
"We have a good bond too." Paulina laughed.
Edwina couldn't help but lose her smile, "That's nice, I hope we'll still be this close when we're mom and the girls' age." The two looked at each other and smiled.
After about ten minutes or so, Agustina put on the cheongsam and went downstairs.
Paulina and Edwina, who had been sitting on the couch, stood up in unison, their eyes both looking at Agustina.
"Mama, she's very pretty!" complimented Paulina as she approached.
Although Agustina was almost fifty, her figure was still slender, and this cheongsam highlighted all her curves and made a real difference.
"Is this color too bright for me?" Agustina looked at the cheongsam she was wearing.
"Bright?" Paulina thought she had misheard, "Mom, this color is already too discreet. Besides, tomorrow is Grandpa's 80th birthday, so you should wear something festive." Agustina nodded, "Yes, you're right."
Then she smiled and said to Paulina, "You have a good eye, mom really likes this cheongsam."
"I am your daughter, of course I have a good eye." Paulina smiled and took her by the arm.
Dulce, for her part, couldn't help but say, "It's the daughter who is so sweet. I don't think I want Edgar to help me pick out a dress."
Paulina pointed to Edwina: "Isn't there an Edwina here? You can ask Edwina to help you pick out a dress later."
When Dulce heard this, she suddenly realized: "Yes, why had I forgotten? Wei Wei married into our Khan family, so naturally she is also my daughter."
At these words, Edwina's heart warmed and she said softly, "Mom, I'll accompany you to pick out your clothes later."
Dulce patted her hand, "Okay."
They chatted for a while before Paulina went upstairs to get Marcos.
Marcos was in the playroom with the children and when he walked in, he saw Sweety and Esteban on the carpet, working intently on a puzzle.
Marcos was sitting on the sidelines, quietly watching them.
The scene caught Paulina's attention and her heart softened.
She quickly approached him, "What are you playing at?".
At the sound of her voice, Marcos turned his head and a smile slowly lifted the corners of his lips.
Esteban and Sweety bowed their heads and when they saw it was her, they shouted in unison, "Mom."
Paulina knelt down and rubbed their little heads, looked at the half-finished puzzle and said with surprise, "You guys are so good, you put so much together." Sweety lifted her chin proudly, "Of course."
Paulina laughed and pinched her nose, "Look how happy you are."
"Mom, do you want to join us?" asked Sweety.
"Well ..." Paulina thought seriously and looked at Mark who stood to the side, with a sly twinkle in his eye, "I can if your dad wants me to."
