Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1489: Pregnant?
Paulina knew that Mark was worried, so she used to take care of her rest at work, and did not compress her rest time for the sake of work. For several days in a row, she worked well, but suddenly one day, inexplicably, she felt especially sleepy.
It was a sudden drowsiness.
She could barely keep her eyes open and had to leave her work to rest.
This rest took her more than two hours before she woke up.
When she woke up, Mark was sitting on the edge of her bed, looking at her with concern, "Are you very tired?".
Paulina sat up and frowned, "No, I've rested well the last few days, I shouldn't be this tired."
Mark clearly wasn't convinced and frowned, "Paulina, I know you're looking forward to things, but you don't have to worry about everything." Paulina saw that his face didn't look good and grabbed his arm and shook him gently, pouting, "Don't be mad, next time I'll pay attention." Marcos sighed, "I'm just annoyed with you, not angry."
"I know." Paulina curved her lips into a smile, "But you see, nothing really happened to me at all."
Her cheeks were flushed and it didn't really look like anything was wrong with her.
"I'm just sleepy." said Paulina again.
Marcos took her hand between his and a slight smile finally tugged at the corner of his lips, "I know. But still, take care to rest and don't get tired." Paulina raised her hand in promise, "I promise, I'll take care of my work and rest."
"Idiot." Marcos laughed out loud, looking at her fondly.
But even though Paulina was busy juggling work and rest, she still wasn't in the best of spirits and dozed off easily.
Still, she forgets things easily.
For example, this day she and the rest of the group had agreed to have a small meeting to check the status of the planning of the ongoing event. But she forgot about it.
It wasn't until Alfredo called her that she suddenly remembered.
She rushed to the meeting room, only to discover that she had forgotten the paperwork again.
When she got home after work, she sat down on the couch, exhausted.
When Mrs. Gloria saw her, she asked with concern, "Has the work been very hard?"
Paulina turned her head to look at her and sighed, "If it's too much work, it's okay. It's just that today I keep forgetting things and procrastinating on work." "Don't you always have a very good memory?" Ms. Gloria sat across from her and looked at her suspiciously.
Paulina sat upright, her fine eyebrows furrowed, "I don't know what's wrong with me. The last two days I've forgotten about meetings or client appointments." At that point, she lowered her shoulders in frustration, "I wonder if I'm getting old and forgetful."
Bonita happened to come downstairs, overheard their conversation, walked over and said, "Sister-in-law, do you want to go to the hospital for a checkup?" "Why?" wondered Paulina.
Bonita did not answer, but touched her stomach and looked at her meaningfully.
Paulina quickly responded by looking at Ms. Gloria and asked uncertainly, "You say I have it?"
"Mmm." Bonita nodded, "It seems that your memory does get worse in the early stages of pregnancy and you get sleepy and tired and things like that."
At her comment, Paulina put her hand to her stomach and frowned, "I ... Am I really having it?"
Yes, she was prone to drowsiness and forgetfulness lately.
Indeed, it was too much like pregnancy symptoms.
Once she learned that Paulina might be pregnant again, Ms. Gloria couldn't help but get excited, "Paulina, take Bonita's advice and get yourself checked out at the hospital." "Okay, all right." Paulina rubbed her belly, still thinking it was unlikely.
But if she wasn't pregnant, how could she be so sick these days.
She told Marcos, and Marcos' reaction was calm: "I'll take you to the hospital tomorrow."
"Marcos, do you think I really might be pregnant?"
Marcos pondered for a moment and said, "I've calculated your period and it's been a few days now."
As he said that, Paulina remembered that her own period had also been late.
"I'm not really pregnant, am I?".
A mixed emotion went through Paulina's mind.
"What's the matter, aren't you happy?" Mark noticed that she didn't seem well and asked with concern.
"No." Paulina shook her head.
It wasn't that she didn't want to have another child, it was just that at that moment what she wanted most was to be by Marcos' side.
"It hasn't been proven yet, everything is subject to change."
Marcos took her in his arms, his large palm gently caressing her soft hair, his low, soft voice sounding in her ear.
"If you have it, stay home and get well, and don't go to the office."
That was what Paulina dreaded to hear.
She looked up, smiled, and asked in a resigned voice, "What about the planning for the annual meeting?"
It had taken a lot of work and she wanted to finish it herself.
"Leave it in Alfredo's hands," Marcos said.
"If I'm pregnant, do I have to stay home?". Paulina was still unfazed.
"Or what?" Marcos looked down at her clear pupils and curved his mouth helplessly, "Paulina, I know what's on your mind, but nothing is more important than you."
He had said that, and she really would be too inconsiderate if she persisted any longer.
Paulina took a deep breath and compromised, "Okay, I'll do whatever you want."
"Good girl." Marcos wrapped his arms tightly around her.
Paulina pressed her face against his chest and said, "Be good at what, I'm not a girl anymore."
Although her tone sounded as if she resented him, the corners of her mouth couldn't suppress a gasp.
"You're not a child, but my baby." Marcos lowered his head and gently kissed the top of her hair.
Paulina burst into a sweeter smile and snuggled further into his arms.
...
The next morning, Marcos and Paulina went straight to the hospital without breakfast.
The doctor asked about Paulina's condition and sent her for tests.
Within half an hour, Paulina had the test results.
She was not pregnant.
Her heart crossed with disappointment.
Marcos was also a little disappointed.
Paulina turned her head to look at him and lifted her lips in a smile that was mixed with a hint of loss, "I told you it couldn't be."
"Okay, next time I'll try." Mark gripped her hand tightly and leaned into her ear, speaking softly.
With a slight blush, Paulina nudged him and snapped, "Try hard for what?"
With that, she withdrew her hand and moved forward, leaving Mark behind her.
Looking at her slender back, the corners of Marcos' mouth lifted involuntarily, and even a faint smile appeared under his eyes, and then he lifted his steps to catch up with her.
