Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1490: Never Again

After leaving the hospital, Paulina and Marcos went straight to the office.

On the way, Marcos called home and told them the test results.

"No pregnancy."

Mrs. Gloria's voice on the other end of the line was clearly disappointed, but then she said, "If you're not pregnant, you must be working too hard, so tell Paulina to rest." Marcos said, "Yes," and hung up the phone.

Paulina turned her head to look at him, "Mom is disappointed?".

Yesterday, her mother-in-law was the most excited to learn that she might be pregnant.

As great as the hope was the disappointment.

"She told you to get more rest." Marcos gave her a sidelong glance, "Everyone is worried about you."

Paulina lost her smile helplessly, "Actually I'm not at all."

What the hell did she have to say to make them believe her.

"Paulina, I know you love what you do, but ..." Marcos paused, "there's a 'scale' to everything."

Paulina nodded, "I know."

She said she knew, but she didn't take it to heart.

That afternoon, the entire planning team decided to work late because a job had not been completed before the end of the day.

Mark pushed open the door to the conference room and saw Paulina standing in front of the electronic screen, telling the team about the work schedule.

He watched her silently, unable to interrupt her.

In her favorite field of work, she was truly a new person.

At this moment, she is radiant and self-confident.

Light falls into her eyes, turning them into bursts of extraordinary brilliance.

Someone sees Mark standing in the doorway and exclaims, "Mr. Mark."

The meeting has been interrupted.

Marcos had no intention of doing so, though.

When Paulina peeked out, a bright smile bloomed on her small, simple face, and her beautiful eyes sparkled.

It was true that confident women were the most beautiful.

Mark felt it in his heart.

"What brings you here?" asked Paulina in a whisper as she approached.

Marcos fixed his gaze on her and his thin lips parted, "What time is it?"

"Now?" Paulina frowned in confusion before her eyes flicked to the computer on the conference table.

Seeing the time, Paulina immediately understood what Mark was referring to, she looked thoughtful and said with slight trepidation, "Seems a little late." "What did you promise me?" asked Mark again.

"I ..." Paulina was about to open her mouth to answer when she suddenly felt the gaze of a dozen eyes on her.

She turned her head, only to see a dozen members of the group looking at her and Marcos with a curious and excited look.

As soon as they saw her turn their heads, they immediately lowered their heads and pretended to be looking at their papers very intently.

Paulina couldn't help but lose her smile, "That's the end of the meeting for now, you can all go back."

As soon as they heard that they could leave work, they all perked up, but didn't dare to go too far since Mark was there too.

So they gathered their things and left quickly.

In less than a minute, only Marcos and Paulina were left in the large conference room.

"Angry?" asked Paulina cautiously as she took Marcos' hand.

Marcos shook his head, "No."

"Oh." Paulina rolled her eyes and asked, "You don't work this late, too, do you?"

There was no answer.

Paulina knew she had guessed correctly and smirked, "How can you justify talking about me when you work so late too?" "Paulina."

It had been a long time since she'd heard him call her by her first name, and Paulina straightened her back immediately, her teeth nibbling on her bottom lip. He wasn't really angry, was he?

Looking at her with a straight face, Marcos sighed softly, "I don't want to see you work so hard."

Paulina shook her head, "I don't feel hard at all. On the contrary, I feel happy."

Yes, she couldn't be happier doing what she was good at and enjoyed.

How could it feel like hard work?

"Marcos, I don't really work hard." Paulina raised a hand to smooth her furrowed brow and continued, "I'm not a child anymore, I know how to rest when I'm tired." Marcos remembered the scene he had seen when he opened the conference room door, she was so sure of herself, so radiant.

She was so sure of herself, so radiant, it was hard to dampen her enthusiasm.

Mark took her hand in his and said in an extremely soft voice, "Forget it for today, but it won't happen again."

Paulina smiled, "Okay."

But what she didn't expect was that the next day she would be sick.

A situation had arisen at the event and Paulina, as head planner, had to be there in person to sort it out.

When she left the house, the weather was fine, it was cloudy but didn't look like it was going to rain.

But then her car broke down in the middle of the road and suddenly it started raining hard.

The raindrops hit the windshield with a crunching sound and Paulina looked up at the sky, which was gray and gloomy. The rain was not going to stop for a long time.

Just then her cell phone rang.

As soon as she picked it up, an anxious voice came to her, "Ms. Paulina, are you here?"

"The car broke down halfway, I'm going to take a cab."

"Then come quickly, the people here are already waiting impatiently."

Paulina hung up the phone, gritted her teeth, got out of the car and ran to the sidewalk, hailing a cab to the hotel.

Inevitably, she got wet.

When she arrived at the hotel, the attendant saw her come in with wet hair and hurried to have a dry towel brought to her. After drying her hair, she went to talk to the person in charge of setting up.

The assistant didn't dare forget Marcos' instructions, so she called him and told him all about Paulina's situation.

When Marcos heard that Paulina had been caught in the rain, he didn't feel like working, so he brought a set of clean clothes and hurried over. "Argh!" Paulina couldn't help sneezing.

She got a runny nose, her forehead wrinkled slightly, she couldn't have caught a miserable cold after getting caught in the rain, could she? The clerk next to her saw that her face didn't look good and asked worriedly, "Madam President, are you all right?"

Paulina looked back and smiled faintly, "Yes.

Not to read too much into it, she wasn't that frail at all.

When Marcos arrived, he caught a glimpse of Paulina, who was talking seriously to someone.

"Mr. Marcos, you are here." Paulina's assistant greeted her.

Marcos nodded at her and then walked over to Paulina.

Paulina was so serious that she didn't even notice the tall man approaching.

It was only when the person in front of her made a surprised expression that she realized something was wrong and turned her head.

When she saw Marcos, she made a surprised face, "What are you doing here?"

"Delivering your clothes." Marcos held up the bag in his hand.

"You know I got wet?" Paulina looked at her assistant who wasn't far away, "Gerc told you?".

Marcos didn't answer, he just said, "Change your clothes first."
