Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1559: Will I Let Him Get Away With It?

"This marriage to The Chavez Family is all the more reason to demonstrate his ambition to expand the power of the Bartram family." Marcos quite admired Rawlins' ambition, though not his rivalry.

Alfredo nodded, "From what you say, that's right."

"With the help of The Chavez Family, he will no longer see Chris as a liability, and he will even feel that Chris is a liability to him today. It's that ..."

Marcos' eyes narrowed slightly, revealing a hint of hardness, "He won't give up working with Chris, but he will consider annexation."

At those words, Alfredo couldn't help but worry, "So we're going to let the Rawlins get away with doing this?"

If so, wouldn't it mean more trouble for them than it would be worth?

"You think I'll let him get away with this?" Marcos raised his eyes.

Meeting her cold, impassive eyes, Alfredo unconsciously shook his head, "No."

The corners of Marcos' lips curved in a puzzled manner, "Rawlins is asking for collateral in the form of stock, what if someone outbid him for Chris' shares?"

Alfredo had been with him for many years and immediately understood what he meant, "Chris is desperate for money now and would certainly go for the highest bidder." "Exactly." The smile on Mark's lips was accentuated a couple of notches, "So, the Rawlins will have to come up short."

"But...," Alfredo thought in a key question, "what company is going to do this? If you are personally ..."

If the prince had intervened, Chris would have chosen the Rawlins' side.

Mark took a sip of the coffee on the table and said slowly, "I've asked Eliazar to take care of it."

...

Chris sat on the couch with a somber face and eyes fixed on the laptop screen on the table.

On the screen was the stock warrant contract Rawlins had sent him.

His price was ridiculously low.

Linda came in with her coffee, set it on the table and sat down smoothly next to Chris.

She leaned over and ran her index finger across the touchpad, perusing the contract.

After reading it, she frowned and turned her head to look at Chris, "Are the Rawlins crazy? How can they offer such a low price?" Chris said nothing.

Linda was furious, "No, you mustn't say yes to him. But if he thinks of your friendship, don't let him take advantage!".

"But if I don't say yes, where will the money come from?" asked Chris.

Linda was speechless for a moment.

Yes, how could he have begged Rawlins if he hadn't really been desperate?

"Isn't there another way?" Linda leaned helplessly against the couch, "Is that really how Rawlins wants it?".

"Snap!"

Chris reached up and slammed the laptop shut, gritting his teeth: "Rawlins is just trying to take over my company." Linda growled, "His ambitions are written into the contract."

At that moment, the assistant rushed in, "Chairman, the shareholders are here."

Hearing this, Chris cursed in exasperation, "They come in every day, are they trying to force me to die?"

"They're waiting for you in the conference room."

"Go ahead. Better not piss them off or things will only get worse for the company." advised Linda. Chris got up, smoothed his suit and walked out with a sullen face.

In the meeting room, all the shareholders looked serious, which depressed the mood.

Chris came striding in, and as soon as he saw him enter, the shareholders who had been sitting rose.

"Sit down, guys." Chris walked over and sat down in the main seat, sweeping his eyes over everyone present. "Don't worry, the company's crisis will soon be resolved ...."

Before he could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by one of the shareholders, "You always say it will be resolved soon, but how many days has it been, how long do you want us to wait?" At the shareholders' questions, Chris grimaces and doesn't answer.

"We are only here today to ask you to come up with a countermeasure as soon as possible, if we really can't solve the problem, we will withdraw our capital."

The shareholders immediately utter their words, each with a non-negotiable look.

Chris raised his eyes and glared at them, "Are you trying to drive me to the edge of the abyss?"

"It's hard for us to see the company like this, so please get this crisis resolved quickly!".

The shareholders didn't stay much longer and left after saying what needed to be said, leaving Chris sitting alone in the conference room for quite a while. If there really was no way out, he could only accede to Rawlins' request.

The assistant approached, "Chairman, someone to see you."

Chris turned his head, a frown on his face, "To see me?"

"Well, it's the head of the Gerst Group."

Gerst?

Chris was a little surprised.

The Gerst Group was a large, well-known company here, which grew mainly by buying other companies and which, many years ago, was criticized by the industry. But today, it was a public company and was growing as fast as it could and was financially strong.

"Where is he?" asked Chris.

"In his office."

Chris hurries back to his office and as soon as he enters he sees the tall figure standing at his desk, surprisingly with a Nordic face.

"Mr Chris, hello, I'm the head of the Gerst Group, Bauer."

Bauer smiled broadly and extended his right hand.

"Nice to meet you."

Chris stepped forward and shook his hand, his critical gaze resting on his face as he opened the door and asked, "I wonder what Mr. Bauer has come to do." "I've come to talk to you about a partnership."

"A partnership?" Chris was a little surprised.

"I have a general understanding of your company's current situation. I believe you are in dire need of liquidity." Bauer didn't beat around the bush. Chris asked tentatively, "How do you want to cooperate?"

"I give you money and you give me shares."

A simple sentence explained Bauer's true intention..

Chris instantly grimaced, "If you're here to buy stock, then please come back."

Bauer didn't care about his attitude and simply stated a figure without panic. Chris froze.

He offered a price that was almost double Rawlins'.
