Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 157: He must like you
Early the next morning, Eloise Thompson arrived at the airport to meet up with another colleague, Linn Dail, who had been assigned to Eloise Thompson by Layla Davidson as a temporary assistant. The two men got on the plane without incident and found their seats, Eloise Thompson was surprised to see a familiar figure in the seat next to him and he spoke up and called out, "Mr Egbert." Egbert Chumley was looking at the newspaper when he heard a familiar voice and his eyes shot up.
"Eloise! You're a ..."
Eloise Thompson smiled, "On a business trip, this is my colleague Linn Dail, and you Egbert? Going on a business trip too?" "Hmm." Egbert Chumley nodded, "There's been a problem with the foreign company and it's got to be dealt with in a hurry."
"Is that so? That's quite a coincidence, to be on the same flight as Egbert, and we're still positioned next to each other." "Yes! Now I don't have to worry about being alone and getting bored."
Egbert Chumley looked at Eloise Thompson and his expression became gentle, and for a moment he was in a trance; it was amazing how fate could be so wonderful that he could meet someone he liked on a business trip. A grin flashed across Eloise Thompson's face as she took a seat on the sidelines.
The voyage was a dozen hours long and after a short chat between Eloise Thompson and Egbert Chumley, they got down to business.
She read a little bit of the project last night, but there was no concrete plan yet, so she had to hurry up and write it.
Egbert Chumley was sitting next to Eloise Thompson, a company he happened to know, and told Eloise Thompson about the development of their predecessor and its transformation.
The two men talked and Eloise Thompson listened and then worked out a general direction for the promotion in response to the message provided by Egbert Chumley.
It's only a preliminary rough plan, but when it comes full circle, it will certainly not be bad, and with Egbert Chumley on hand to guide the way, the overall idea is still relatively smooth.
In the blink of an eye, seven or eight hours had passed and Eloise Thompson was a good part of the way through.
Egbert Chumley couldn't help but smile as he watched Eloise Thompson's desperate triumph.
"I didn't realise until I'd known you for so long that you were still a workaholic, so stop and eat first!"
Eloise Thompson smiles, "I can't thank Egbert enough for his help, otherwise I wouldn't be able to get started on this project!"
Egbert Chumley was not too polite, and with a smile on his face he said, "You can thank me, just invite me to dinner in America! I'm busy during the day, but I'm available in the evenings."
"Of course it's no problem, as long as you don't order something too expensive to eat me up." After all, it was just a meal, and Eloise Thompson didn't refuse.
Egbert Chumley smiled and arrived in New York not long after having a meal on the plane.
Eloise Thompson had already arrived and was going to take Linn Dail to the hotel, but Egbert Chumley looked up the location and said, "The hotel we're both staying at isn't that far away, so I'll take you there. You can go there!" Eloise Thompson thought about it and didn't refuse.
"Then trouble Egbert."
After getting into the car and dropping the two off at the hotel Egbert Chumley spoke up, "I'll be in touch then, call me if you need anything and take care of yourself."
"Hmm." Eloise Thompson nodded and watched Egbert Chumley's car leave before following Linn Dail into the hotel.
After Egbert Chumley left, Linn Dail spoke up excitedly, "Eloise, this Mr Egbert is so handsome! I never thought he'd be your Egbert!"
Eloise Thompson smiled and nodded, "Yes! It was only when we bumped into each other in the café earlier when we got the Chumley Group project that we recognised him as my Egbert from university, coincidentally." "Oh~" Linn Dail looked at Eloise Thompson with a slightly ambiguous look, then continued, "Is your mysterious boyfriend Mr Egbert!"
On hearing this, Eloise Thompson hastened to deny it.
"What mystery boyfriend, don't be ridiculous, me and Mr Egbert are just friends."
"I don't believe it, even if he's not your boyfriend, it's obvious to anyone with eyes to see that this Mr Egbert likes you."
"What are you talking nonsense about!"
Linn Dail spoke with a firm face, "How can I say that? You didn't see how surprised Mr Egbert was when he saw you on the plane just now. Eloise, I'm always good at reading men, Mr Egbert must like you." Eloise Thompson looked a little distracted as the two talked, checked in information and walked into the lift with their luggage.
She couldn't help but think of what Mr Egbert said in his speech at the school festival that day, could it be that she really liked herself?
Eloise Thompson panicked for a moment, but I hope not! How else could she face Mr Egbert later?
Linn Dail continued, "Eloise, you don't have a boyfriend either, so why don't you consider Mr Egbert? He's so handsome and gentle, he's like a young girl's idea of a knight in shining armour! You'd be so happy with him." Linn Dail's eyes were so giddy that Eloise Thompson glanced at her and said, "Come on, stop gossiping, Mr Egbert has someone in mind."
"That person must be you, believe me."
"No."
"That's just it."
The lift had reached their floor and Eloise Thompson, not wanting to continue the argument with Linn Dail, swiped her card into the room and the two began to pack their things. Afterwards, Eloise Thompson switched her mobile phone on and received a call from Hector Rogers, who looked at Linn Dail in the house and went to the balcony to answer the call. "Are we there yet?" Came the low, mellow voice of Hector Rogers from across the room.
"Well, here it is."
Eloise Thompson responded, and for some reason, had a bit of mixed emotions at the moment.
"That's good, take care of yourself abroad, remember to eat on time and call me if you need anything." "Hmm."
The two talked almost more and after they hung up, and for some reason, Eloise Thompson was full of Hector Rogers.
You are here to work, stop thinking about it, Eloise Thompson tried to tell herself, and it took an unknown amount of time before her heart calmed down.
When she returned to her room, she asked Linn Dail to contact the head of the SR Group to set up a meeting for tomorrow.
Linn Dail nodded and went off to make a phone call, and then Eloise Thompson buried herself in the planning.
It was well past eleven o'clock when Linn Dail came out of the bathroom after a shower and Eloise Thompson was still busy.
"Eloise, you've been busy on the plane for ages here, it's getting late, take a break!" Linn Dail yawned.
Eloise Thompson took one look at her and spoke, "You go to bed! I'll be asleep as soon as I'm done."
Linn Dail couldn't help, plus she was too sleepy at the moment, so she had to sleep.
"Well, you get an early night then!"
"Hmm." Eloise Thompson responded and went back to her work.
...
It was well past five the next day when Linn Dail got up to go to the toilet and Eloise Thompson was still awake. "Eloise, why are you ... still awake?"
