Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 158: Missed appointment
Linn Dail can say she's stunned, Eloise Thompson has obviously been up all night!
She realises that it's not for nothing that Eloise Thompson has gone on to take on these big projects! Look how hard they work.
When Catherine Greaves was in charge of the project, Linn Dail followed her abroad, but when she arrived, all Catherine Greaves did was sleep and wake up to shop and eat, which in comparison ...
Eloise Thompson propped herself up, rubbed her eyes and said, "We've got a meeting scheduled for today, how can we meet if we don't have a satisfactory proposal?"
"But you can't boil it like that! What if you get sick?" Linn Dail frowned slightly, she knew that Eloise Thompson had always been responsible for her work, but she didn't expect to be this responsible, it was admirable! Eloise Thompson smiled, gathered up the things on the table and then spoke, "It's all done, I'll take a nap and you'll have to wake me up at lunchtime."
Linn Dail nodded, "Okay, go to bed now!"
"Hmm."
Eloise Thompson slept in until noon, and in the afternoon she and Linn Dail arrived at a cafe in Times Square to meet up with each other.
As the minutes ticked by, Eloise Thompson couldn't help but ask Linn Dail, "What time do you have an appointment with the other person?"
"The assistant in charge of the other side only said it was in the afternoon, he said their manager was very busy and wasn't sure exactly when in the afternoon, said we should wait in the cafe, Eloise, why don't I call and ask?" With that, Linn Dail pulled out her phone and Eloise Thompson stopped her.
"No need to ask, it will look like we are impatient if we rush like this, just wait a little longer!"
Linn Dail nodded, thinking it made sense.
The two of them continued to wait, but it was a long afternoon, with people coming and going at the entrance of the cafe, but the other party was slow to appear.
Linn Dail, her patience exhausted, spoke up with some displeasure, "Eloise, it's obvious that the other side is deliberately giving us a hard time and standing us up."
It had come to this and Eloise Thompson had to ask Linn Dail to call and ask.
The assistant in charge said something about their manager suddenly having to come in, so Eloise Thompson had to ask Linn Dail to go ahead and make an appointment. Linn Dail sighed, "These people are really something, they can't come without telling us in advance and making us wait here for so long for nothing."
Eloise Thompson smiled and spoke reassuringly, "It wasn't a waste of time waiting, I've revised the planning even better."
"Eloise, you're the only one with a good heart, anyone else would probably have exploded."
With a twinkle in her eye, Eloise Thompson followed Linn Dail out of the cafe and back to the hotel.
...
On the way, Eloise Thompson reported the situation to Layla Davidson.
Layla Davidson on the other end of the line frowned slightly and said, "You and Linn Dail have worked hard, and I'll continue to talk to the other side, so I'm sorry."
"It's okay, Manager Layla, no aggravation." Eloise Thompson spoke up in response.
"Well, then you guys go back and get some rest, and remember to keep me posted."
"Okay."
After hanging up the phone, inside the office, Catherine Greaves was inside and she had just heard the entirety of the call, so she spoke up, "Manager Layla, look! I told you the other side would be difficult to deal with, and it's no use Eloise Thompson being there."
Catherine Greaves bristled; she couldn't believe that Eloise Thompson could take on a project that she couldn't take on in a month.
Layla Davidson glanced at Catherine Greaves with a hint of reprimand in her tone.
"If you hadn't been unable to come up with a satisfactory plan in several meetings with the other side before, would they even bother to meet with me now? Eloise is now cleaning up your mess."
"Manager Layla ... How can I be blamed for this, I have done a good job with the planning, it is the other side that is too picky."
"All right, all right, get out!"
Catherine Greaves' eyes flashed a hint of resignation, but she left anyway.
...
After Eloise Thompson hung up the phone, she received a call from Egbert Chumley.
"Have you finished talking about the project? Are you free to have dinner together tonight?"
"Egbert, it's done, I'm on my way back to the hotel!" Eloise Thompson spoke up in response.
"Okay then, I'll come over and pick you up."
Eloise Thompson didn't say no and after hanging up the phone, Linn Dail on the side spoke up, "Wow Eloise, what a project for you, there are several romantic restaurants in this New York, you and Mr Egbert have fun, have dinner and then go shopping."
The corner of Eloise Thompson's mouth twitched as she watched the ambiguous look on her face.
"What's on your mind! Just a simple dinner, do you want to come along?"
"No, no, no, I'm not going to be a lightning rod!" Linn Dail flatly refused.
Eloise Thompson smiled helplessly and on arrival at the hotel Egbert Chumley was already waiting in the lobby.
He was dressed in a black suit and looked gentle throughout. Eloise Thompson saw several foreign women approaching Egbert Chumley from a distance, but Egbert Chumley politely declined.
After meeting and greeting Linn Dail was very self-conscious and went into the lift to her room.
With a smile on his face, Egbert Chumley spoke up and asked, "How's it going, is the project going well?"
Eloise Thompson sighed and spoke helplessly, "It didn't work out, the other side stood us up and we didn't even meet them."
Egbert Chumley, not expecting this, patted Eloise Thompson on the shoulder and said, "So! Don't get discouraged, take your time, go and eat first!"
"Hmm." Eloise Thompson smiled and nodded.
Then it was time to leave the hotel with Egbert Chumley.
...
Domestic, Rogers Group.
Since Eloise Thompson left the country, Hector Rogers has been buried in his work, and when he takes a moment to think about Eloise Thompson, it is clear from that phone call that not only is Eloise Thompson avoiding him, but her attitude towards him has clearly turned cold.
Hector Rogers couldn't figure out what he had done wrong. Did his mother or someone in the family go to Eloise Thompson again and say something they shouldn't?
Thinking, Hector Rogers sent his assistant straight away to investigate if anyone had approached Eloise Thompson in the last few days, or if something had happened. During the afternoon, the assistant came to report.
"President, I've checked and nothing has gone to Miss Eloise with these guys and nothing strange has happened to Miss Eloise."
Enquiries were still fruitless, and Hector Rogers rubbed his brow somewhat helplessly; what was going on? Just then, Rupert Rogers hurried in, and with his steps, only his voice could be heard.
"Brother, there's been a problem with a project I signed up for earlier in New York and I reckon I'll have to make a trip abroad myself to deal with this."
At that, Hector Rogers raised a slight eyebrow and pursed his thin lips, "Where did you say?"
"New York, ah, what's up?"
Rupert Rogers looked at his brother with a hint of doubt, it was just a small problem with a project, not such a big reaction!
