Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 580: What if I don't let
But Hector would never let her go. He had waited so many years to see her, so how could he let her go so easily? "Eloise, you can't go, you can't leave me."
Hector's stubbornness caused Rowson's patience level to reach its limit and he struck down Hector's hand. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Mr Hector, please don't challenge my boundaries, Eloise is my wife, so please recognise that. If you speak out of turn again, I will not be kind to you, now please move aside, we are leaving."
"And what if I don't allow it?"
The same fire was in Hector's eyes and the air was full of gunpowder, as if a battle was about to be triggered in the next moment.
The auras emanating from the two were both powerful and full of oppression.
Everyone in the room held their breath for fear of being caught in a wave if they were not careful.
Seeing a clash coming, Fletcher Godbold approached.
"Hector! Stop it."
A mid-air voice came and Hector turned to look over.
Fletcher Godbold walked over to Rowson, held out his hand and said, slightly apologetically, "I apologise for the inconvenience my grandson has caused you. I am also sorry for the distress he has caused you, and now you may go." Hearing his grandfather's words, Hector frowned and tried to go forward to stop him, but Fletcher Godbold stopped him straight away.
In a low voice, he said, "It's your brother's engagement party, don't mess it up."
Rowson saw this and gave Hector a hard look and left the scene with Eloise and Sweety.
Watching Rowson leave with Eloise, Hector couldn't help but clench his hands.
Although he was upset, he did not want to refute his grandfather's words.
The eyes that looked to Fletcher Godbold carried a slight look of reproach.
Before Hector could say anything, Fletcher Godbold spoke up directly, "Can't you see there's something wrong with Eloise? How could she not recognise you under normal circumstances?" "But I'm afraid she'll leave again." Hector replied sombrely.
At that Fletcher Godbold talked and slapped Hector's hand down and said, "In this situation do you think she will stay if you keep stopping her?
Without figuring it out, you'll just scare her away, and now that you know she's alive, you should be glad so you still have a chance to get her back, got it?"
It was then that Hector sort of came to his senses and bowed his head and said, "Grandpa, it was my poor consideration."
It made Hector's heart sick to think that at such an advanced age, Grandpa had to pay for the wrongs he had done.
"That's just it, who hasn't made mistakes when they were young, now think of some way to get her back, it's out of my old man's hands."
Having said that, Fletcher Godbold returned to his seat.
Hector calmed down, but Solomon couldn't understand why Eloise had left.
He looked to Mrs Matriarch and asked with red eyes, "Grandma, why does Mummy not know me anymore? Does she not want Solomon anymore?" Seeing the hurt in Solomon's eyes made the group of elders heartbroken.
Mrs Matriarch said slowly, "Solomon, it's not that Mummy doesn't know you anymore, it's just that she's in a special situation, so let's wait a little longer for Mummy, okay?" Solomon nodded good-naturedly at his words and lay on Mr Fletcher's shoulder, huffing silently.
Mrs Matriarch's heart was breaking as she watched her little heart break.
Over the course of three years, Solomon became a lot more cheerful.
Mrs Matriarch had thought he had let go of his feelings for Eloise, but he had no idea that this time Eloise's presence would still cause such a reaction to him.
A selfish thought flashed through Mrs Matriarch's mind at the moment; she would have preferred Eloise to just disappear if she had known she would make Solomon so sad. But this is only Mrs Matriarch's private thoughts, which she would never dare to say.
On the other side Aisly, who had not yet reacted from the situation she had just been in, said after pinching Rupert, "Rupert, you said that person was really Miss Eloise, right?" Rupert ate the pain and said in no uncertain terms, "Of course it's true, look at my brother and Solomon's reaction, how could that be wrong?
But my aunt, can you be a little more gentle in the future? I'm your fiancé now!"
Aisly blushed at the thought of what she had just done and buried her head in Rupert's arms.
After the interlude, the engagement party went ahead as usual.
Aisly and Rupert each changed into a different outfit and came to the tables to toast.
The guests also looked on with great delight at the young couple and offered words of blessing.
At this point Hector is sitting alone in a corner, darkly saddened.
The knowledge that Eloise was still alive, but the feeling that the two men could not be identified was driving him crazy.
Eloise's indifferent eyes kept flashing in front of his eyes, making it too much for Hector to take.
Hearing her call another man her husband makes Hector want to kill.
But there was nothing he could do about it now. All his years of longing had burst forth at this time, and he could only anaesthetize himself through alcohol.
It was also the last time he indulged himself.
In no time at all, Hector's face was filled with bottles of wine.
The habit of drinking regularly during his three years in France has made Hector a much better drinker again.
From a distance, Mrs Matriarch saw Hector sitting alone and rushed over.
Looking at the bottles of wine laid out in front of him, one could not help but frown.
She grabbed Hector's glass and said with some distress, "Hector, Mum knows it's hard for you, but you can't trample yourself like that, it's hurting your own body."
A bitter smile appeared at the corner of Hector's mouth as he sniffed and lifted his hand to look at it before saying, "Mom, you can see, she doesn't recognise me, she really doesn't recognise me."
Mrs Matriarch took Hector's hand and said soothingly, "Mum knows, Mum knows all that, Mum believes Eloise has her own problems, let's wait for her to come back together, shall we?"
Knowing that Mrs Matriarch was worried about her, Hector stopped Mrs Matriarch's shoulder and said, "Don't worry Mum, I'm not drunk now, I'm sober. You don't have to be afraid of me doing anything out of the ordinary, since I know Eloise
is still alive, I won't let her leave my side again, I will get her back."
After a pause, Hector added, "Well, Mom, go ahead and greet the guests, I'll be there in a minute."
Mrs Matriarch left when she saw that there was really nothing unusual about Hector.
After Mrs Matriarch left, Hector went outside to blow off steam.
The coolness of the evening breeze took away all the booze and cleared Hector's head.
He settled down, straightened his lapels and returned to the party.
Talking eloquently with the guests present as if nothing had just happened.
The Rogers family's hearts were relieved to see Hector back to his normal self.
