Luna Abigail -
Chapter 31
Matt’s P.O.V.
The girls have been away for days now. All of us are going slightly stir crazy. Benjamin and Daemon have both gone home to their own pack to prepare for the alpha gathering.
I have buried myself into pack work that needed to be done and have been overdue because of certain circumstances. I have slept little since they took Abby and Ellie. Not being able to sleep beside my mate has been having many nightmares.
Blade has been on edge as well. Holding on the little thread of connection with Galaxy. He has been feeling what Galaxy has been feeling. And we keep assuring one another that they are not in any danger for the moment. Mostly Abby feels annoyed, which I can’t blame her.
On the fourth day of them being in the underworld, I am talking to the contractor about the new pack house. It has been underway for four months now, and with the help of Morgan’s witch coven, they have finished it already. I call for Jason to come to the site and inspect it with me.
It might seem pointless and trivial, but I can’t just sit around in my room, waiting for my mate to come back. And I can’t travel to where she is either. This is the best way to keep myself from going total bonkers.
I have also upped my training. Everyday, I spar with Jason, my father and Kennock. We have been sparing in both human and wolf form. Getting to know Jason’s wolf Draco more. We then eat a hearty breakfast, and Jason and I go our separate way to do pack stuff.
We still have much to do before the packs are fully united, but we are under way. The council has accepted the name change and added it to the pack books. Not that they had any choice once they realised who Abby, and I were, but it was funny to see them argue and then submit grudgingly. I have my suspicions we will have trouble with them in the future. They have been the ultimate power, judge and jury for over a century and now they will have to consult with us before a sentence or decision is made. Nope, we are definitely going to have trouble with them.
Jason came to the pack house, grinning like a fool. I had to ask.
“Care to share the joke, bro?” Jason looks at me, his eyes dancing in joy. It’s the most lively I’ve seen him since the girls disappeared.
“We can have this finished before the girls come back, maybe. Aaaaaand. I uhm. I have something to share with you, but you’ll have to keep your mouth shut about it. Well, your sister will have to know, cus you know they will have more of a clue of what to do in this situation. But you have to keep it from Ellie. I want it to be a surprise for her. Something less to stress about.” Jason rambles on and on. His posture and facial expression suddenly worried, anxious and. Joyous?
I hold up a hand, silencing him. I must have looked comical because the dude just burst out laughing.
“What the hell.. Bro, what are you rambling about?” I ask in confusion and a little annoyed. Jason keeps smiling like a loon, and then his eyes widen.
“Oh right. We didn’t get to tell you before the girls were taken. Well, we were supposed to tell on that day, but with everything going on and..” I hold up my hand again.
“Stop with the rambling, man! Please tell me the big news already.” I say as I cross my arms.
“Well, uhm. Ellie and I are going to be parents too..” Jason says with a big ‘tadaa’ hand gesture. I roll my eyes in amusement.
“Oh that. Galaxy taddled about that weeks ago, but please don’t tell Abby I said so.” I say with a laugh. Jason’s face falls a little.
“I mean… CONGRATULATIONS PAPPA!” I yell in excitement. Maybe I should have started with that looking back. Well, no backies, I guess. I give him an apologetic smile as we bro hug.
“Sorry, should have started with the congratulation.” I say, hanging my head.
“Nah. It’s alright. But how did Galaxy tell you? Jason ponders. We look at each other while the truth dawns on us both.
“Vega!” we say in unison.
“It must have been Vega who told Galaxy.” Jason says, as I nod. I give him a sly smile.
“Then it must have been Antares who told her Morgan is pregnant, too.” Jason burst out laughing.
“Damn, we are going to have out hand full becoming parents and uncles at the same time. I know Ellie want’s to ask Abby if she wants to be godmother, and I guess Morgan is going to ask her as well.” I g***n.
“I need to get back to work.. Not just pack work, but proper work if I’m ever going to afford that.” I say in defeat. I know Abby is going to spoil those two kiddos rotten.
Jason pads my back in response, but can’t help the big smile to form on his face.
“Well, I know Abby is going to ask Ellie the same thing, so that means one thing and one thing only. She is going to use a lot of money on the twins as well.” Jason pales at the revelation and the curses like a sailor. I can’t help but chuckle.
With that out of the way, we move around the new pack house. It is gorgeous, spacious and everything the girls wanted. We made sure it can hold our entire family, extension and all. We have room for all of us.
On the sixth floor is me, Abby, the twins, and my parents. We each have a side of the floor. In the middle are our offices and a family room. Fifth floor is Jason, Ellie, their child and his parents. Also, with offices and a family room in the middle.
The fourth and third floor is for the betas and gammas respectively, and for their family. It also holds offices in the middle, so it is easily accessible. Second floor was where we put conference room, spa area and games room, making it a fun floor, as Abby and Laurel put it.
On every floor, except for the fifth and sixth, there were single or double rooms for pack members. High-ranking omegas, etc. First floor was reserved to be the nanny’s floor. There they would have living quarters, nursery’s, playing area and so on.
Ground floor was diningroom next to the kitchen, livingroom, pantry, etc.
I could practically see Abby bouncing on her feet, pure excitement at the prospect of us moving in and filling her dream home with all the people she loves. Hear her voice squeal as she looks over the project with me, demanding more room for family and less room for formalities. When she had set our contractor straight, with a “Mr. Spade, I admire your work and your dedication to this project, but this is going to be our home. The home of our family and friends. I sincerely do not give a rat’s a*s about formalities and what a pack house should or should not contain. We want this done our way. If you see yourself unable to meet our needs, I will gladly call in someone who will! Am I clear?”
She was a badass, and she was mine! I was so damn proud of her that day. She showed that old fart how things were working, and that he was here to fulfill our vision, not his own.
As of right now, it was still empty, but as soon as we gave the ready, everyone would start moving in. I mind-linked the staff in both previous pack houses to move. We wanted it done, and there was no time to waste.
We had agreed to make my previous pack house to a new joined school for all the kids in the pack, and Jason’s would be new training and living quarters for the warriors. Only those who were living alone could live there. Making good use of the old houses. They needed some remodeling, but that would start as soon as the houses were empty.
Jason went to help his people move, telling me what they were having and making me promise to give it to my sisters so they could shop. He didn’t give a damn about the costs, he just needed it done, probably. We would decorate it when the girls came back, but we needed to assemble the furniture at the very least. But he and I were practically bouncing with excitement. Really manly, I know.
I looked for Brandon before speaking to Helena and Sally. Sally and Nate had arrived the night of the call for the alpha gathering. Sally had spent the following day ranting and cursing every goddess, demon and even the king himself so profusely my mom had shout of her seat yelling at her.
“SALLY ANN BLUE! DO YOU K**S MY GRANDHILDREN WITH THAT DIRTY MOUTH OF YOURS? I HOPE NOT!” Everyone had laughed at her and my sister having a standoff. Sally defending her position to curse everyone for being after her sister-in-law, and my mother for being horrified by her darling girl could use such language and be proud of her for being so protective of my mate. She herself viewed Abby as a daughter, and was absolutely outraged at her kidnapping. But at the same time she was a former Luna tried to stay collected. Even though she had threatened to go to the underworld to kick some demon a*s for trying to hurt her little girl and her grandchildren. Make no mistake. My mother is no pushover. Far from it.
I found Brandon in his office, packing the last things to take to the new place. I knocked on the door before entering and closing it behind me.
“Hey alpha. What’s up?” Brandon asks when I close the door.
“Did you just say ‘alpha’?” I ask back in disbelief. He never called me that unless absolutely necessary. Brandon smiles sheepishly.
“Uhm, what’s up, Matt?” He answers, not looking me in the eye. He is probably expecting me to yell at him for Morgan going rogue and taking Laurel with her. Sami and Isadora made their choice with their alpha’s approval.
“Well, we need to talk. That’s what is up.” I say sternly. Brandon slowly looks up from his papers, swallows.
“Oh? What about?” He asks innocently. I fix him with a stare, not letting up for one second. In my head, Blade is rolling over, laughing in amusement. He is really enjoying to make his best mate sweat.
“I have something serious to discuss with you! And I need an honest answer from you!” I say as I cross my arms over my chest. Brandon is looking more and more uncomfortable. But none the less he nods to my question.
“Good. Seeing as I have already discussed this with Jason, it will be quick because I need to move on it.” I say, dragging my true purpose for being here out a little. Brandon nods again, dragging his hands over his pants.
“I need to know if you want me to talk to Helena and Sally about buying things for your nursery, because they are doing ours and Jason and Ellie’s.” I say with a straight and stern face. Watching his eyes widen as saucers, I burst out laughing. Blade and I are laughing so much we are crying. Doubled over, and not able to see shit, I hear him ask where the f**k I know that from?
“Antares taddled to Galaxy, who, of course, told Abby.” I answer between sobs of laughter. I’m struggling with breathing right about now. Brandon laughs with me.
“Would your sisters be alright with helping us too?” He asks. I give him a pointed look, saying ‘duh, more shopping’ and he chuckles.
We decide to see my sisters together, but before we can reach the door, a frantic omega mind-links me.
‘King Matthew, we need you at the new pack house. Something is wrong with the alpha, Jason.’ Just as the mind-link ends, Matt falls to his knees. An immense sorrow washes over him, replaced with a fury he has never experienced before.
Something is not only wrong with Jason, but with both of their mates.
