Luna Abigail -
Chapter 33
Third Person P.O.V.
As Matthew and Jason try to get everything organised in the upper realm. Panic spread like wildfire after the knife Abby sliced over the arm. Everyone moves in to catch her before she hits the ground, all in a mixture of disbelief and anger.
Jax, who is the closest, catches her in his arms, lifting her unconscious body, making sure to be careful of her showing belly, and walking inside the throne room. He looks around like in a daze, before Willow’s piercing scream penetrates his stupor.
“Nooooo! ABBY! WAKE UP. WAKE UP.” She has transformed into herself again, Jax notice.
He jolts slightly, still with Abby in his arms, and then the seriousness of the situation gets a hold on his heart. They need to get her to the infirmary ASAP.
Ellie grabs her frantic sister, holding her in her arms. Letting her kick and fight, holding her tight and letting her own tears of agony and despair loose down her cheeks. Everyone else is crying, some silently, some with force. But all for their leader.
All the girls follow in the footsteps of Jax as he hurries out of the throne room. A voice stops him, and he turns angrily towards Selene.
“She needs a doctor.” He hisses at the goddess, who only looks at Abby with concern and sadness.
“She needs her mate.” She states silently, as she looks behind her towards her sisters. They both nod with their heads down, not able to look at the girl in Jax’s arms.
“What do you.. The blade? What was it cursed with?” Jasper has come to his brother’s side, looking Selene directly in the eyes with accusation written all over his face.
Selene shakes her head. She walks to her sisters, taking their hands. They glow in their different colors; silver, red and purple.
“As the power of the realms flow in our veins, we bestow upon this crowd the ability to travel between the two. As the bond between family is strong, the heart will always find its home. Sisters of soul, brothers of love. We give the gift of border hop.”
Everyone in the throne room, the three siblings, Jax, Jasmine and Jasper, excluded, glowed softly.
“Wow!” Isadora exclaimed, while the others nodded.
Selene looks satisfied, but then her eyes fall on Abby’s still bleeding arm. She looks at Monica, who nods. The wicca goddess walks towards Jax, who growls slightly. Willow, who has been solely focused on her sister, smacks his head lightly.
“Sush! She will help, and we need this healed as much as possible, and you need to stop being a prat.” She scolds her familiar and friend sternly. Jasper and Jasmine snickers behind him, but stop as Jax’s scowling face turns to them.
Monica takes Abby’s arm in between her hands. A soft golden glow emits from them, and Abby m***s again. Her face is less tense, and then the goddess waves her hands over the wound. Bandages appear out of the air, wrapping around the arm.
Then Willow looks utterly confused when the words of the goddesses make sense in her head. She looks up at Selene with wide, fearful eyes.
“Great mother, does this mean I can return home?” She ask Selene in a small but hopeful voice. Selene shook her head slightly.
“I’m afraid not, child. You belong here in more ways than one. I am sorry, but you will only be able to visit on certain days of the year. We restricted the spell for you.” Ellie looked livid at this announcement and wanted to argue. But then Abby gave a slight m**n of pain from Jax’s arms, and it immediately drew everyone back to the task at hand.
“Everyone gather around.” Selene says with a sigh.
“We need to get her back to her mate and her pack before it’s too late.”
The crowd gathers around the goddess, including Jasmine and Jasper. They are determined to help Abby, because she is Willo’s sister and Willow is their family. Family sticks together. What no one has noticed is the unwelcomed person, who has been lurking in the shadows of the throne room, and tack along on the teleportation out of the underworld.
As they land in the new pack house, everybody looks around in confusion. Where have they landed? Selene looks around the luxurious room. It’s a bedroom. She aimed for alpha Matthew, so he must be here somewhere.
“Someone reach out to alpha Matthew. We need him here. NOW!” She yells the last part. Abby has gone deadly pale, black veins creeping up the wounded arm from under the bandages.
The door to the room burst open. Matthew runs inside, and in a flash, he grabs Selene around her throat. A ferocious growl emits from him, and his eyes glow. Blade in on the surface and he is pissed. Selene doesn’t even try to stop him. She lets him lift her from the ground and waves her sisters down. They don’t need to agitate him even further.
“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?” Blade roars into Selenes’ face. She looks at him with sad eyes.
“I have done nothing.” Selene starts, but she is interrupted.
“Clearly!” Blade huffs. He lets her go and walks through the crowd. Abby has been laid on the bed, and when he sees his mates state, a howl escapes him. He falls to his knees, tears streaming down his cheeks, taking his mate’s hand in his own. She is cold to the touch, her pulse weak and her breath shallow.
“Abby.” He breath. Then he closes his eyes. Before him, everything he needs to do is flashing. He leans forwards, not caring who is looking and when his head reaches her neck, he extends his fangs. Shouts from the crowd reach his ears, and he can feel the surrounding commotion. Something is happening, but the only thing in the world to him is her. His mate. His queen, his heart. Listening with half an ear, Matt sink his canines into her neck, more deeply than when he marked her. He bites down and holds his position until he feels her heart jump up in rhythm.
Jasmin’s P.O.V.
We were all teleported out of the underworld with the goddesses. Me and Jasper tagged along to protect our sister-in-law, and because we wanted to help where we can. I still can’t quite wrap my mind around her being a vitanex. She is a creature of the balance, the giver of life and pain. She can take it away just as easily as it is given. This truly was a development I hadn’t been expecting.
Then seeing her smack my eldest brother on the head like that and scold him like a misbehaving child. Oh, that I definitely enjoyed more than I wanted to let on. Knowing she is his mate, it was priceless to see my always calm and collected brother being handled like that. She doesn’t even know, yet.
I wondered, yet again, what Willow would say when she found out about Jax being her mate and him knowing all along. He would be in bad standing for a long time, I’m sure. But as would me and Jasper, probably.
We were all frozen, looking at the hybrid Queen in shock when the door burst open and a rush of a partly shifted man ran inside. He demanded of the light goddess what she had done, and when she adamantly refused to have done anything, he just snorted a sarcastic “clearly”. I like him.
He then stalked towards the bed, falling to his knees and howling. Ah. This was her mate. I should have known.
The familiar feeling of lack, unworthiness, and heartache washed over me. I looked away when the king bend over his Queen.
Some of the others walked out of the room to give them privacy. The goddesses disappear in a flash of light, probably trying to sneak off, but I saw them. I would tell Abby when she woke up again.
Then some others came in. With them were a couple of unfamiliar men. One of them had his arms around… Adriana. My eyes became bright yellow, as my creature was trying to take over. She clawed at my mind barrier to be let loose and scratch the eyes of that worthless little whore. What the actual f**k! It wasn’t enough for her to steal my first mate. Oh no! She had dumped him as soon as he had rejected me, and then fled the court of the underworld. She had been best friends with Narine.
My eyes trained on the whore, I stalk towards her on stiff legs. Sundancer really wants to tear into her. Shift and grab her, flying high into the air and drop her. Then catch her, flying high again only to drop her. She wanted to see her scared for her life, begging for mercy, before she kills her. Sensing my unstable mind, Jax and Jasper grab my arms. My fingers are claws and all I can see is that traitor.
One of the men pushes her behind him, and I am furious. How dare he protect her? How dare he take my pray away from me? Adriana looks at me with wide, fearful eyes flashing in recognition. Good! She remembers who I am.
“Jasmin, calm down! Look at me, sister. Look at me. Breath. It’s okay, breath!” Jasper’s voice rings through my ears.
“It’s her… Adriana. I. I. She.” I stutter, before breaking down in his arms. My claws become fingers, and the tears stream down my cheeks.
“I know, my darling, but we need to take her back and have her sentenced down there. We need to do this right.” Jasper cooes in my ear. The men are growling in our direction. Then through the door something smelling absolutely delicious come in. I sniff the air, looking up from the embrace of my brother.
There in the doorway, a young man is standing, looking like a deer in a headlight. He stares at me, then at Jasper, and then at Jasper’s arms around me.
His eyes darken, a snarl sounding from his chest and in a second Jaspers is pushed away from him and I am in his arms. The electricity coursing through my skin, dancing as small lightnings.
“MINE!” The young man growls, sneering at Jasper and Jax. Jax never took his eyes off Adriana, seemingly looking for a way to grab her without fighting them all.
Jasper grabs me in a flash and put me behind him. Snarling at the unfamiliar man. I mind-link Jax to let the bitch be for now and help this situation. I don’t want anyone fighting, but I feel like this man is maybe my second chance, mate?
But before Jax can react, Willow has smacked my mate in the back of his head as well. What is it with her and smacking people?
“Auw. Willow!” He whines. I smirk. That girl is a badass. More than anyone knows.
“Stop being an a*s, Jonathan. Why the f**k would you attack my sister- and brother-in-law like that?” She demands, her hands on her h**s. Ellies is staring at Jonathan in anger. Then reality seems to sink in to him.
“F**k. I. I didn’t know. She. He had his arms around her. She is.. But!” He stutters, and point back and forth between me and Jasper.
I walk from behind Jasper, locking eyes with Jonathan. I smile. He smiles. But it’s cut short when his eyes glaze over, and a look of confusion takes over.
“Why did you try to attack Adriana?”
My head is pounding. Why was he defending her? He looked at her with tenderness, then back at me with a question in his eyes. Tears formed in my eyes again. Was he rejecting me, too? And over her. What the hell had I done to the faiths of the realms to deserve this?!
“I suggest you ask that backstabbing, whoring little bitch about that instead of me. And if you’ll excuse me. There are things I have to attend to.” I give him a look of disdain. I look at Adriana with all my unmasked hatred.
I walk past him with Willow, Jax and Jasper. All of them are flanking me. Jonathan tried to grab my arm, but Willow smack him across the face this time. Even though she is still technically a minor, she has force in her punch, and he does nothing in return but looking confused and angry.
“Leave her the f**k alone, you blind a*****e!” She yells in his face.
Out of the side of my eye, I see the other unfamiliar man approach Ellie. But she only gives him a hard stare, clearly mind-linking him. Then she turns around and smile at me. She is on my side. The feeling makes me feel more confident.
The atmosphere in the room is ice cold until we hear a sound we’ve been waiting for since she fell unconscious. The sound of Abby’s heart gaining strength.
