Luna Abigail
Chapter 47

Third person P.O.V.

While the girls are hunting deep in the forest, Matt and the others are defending the pack to the best of their abilities. There are attacks everywhere, and in the middle of it all, more explosions go off. The enemy seems to have the upper hand at the moment, but the defenders are not letting up.

Matt/Blade fights alongside his parent’s wolves and Jason/Draco. The other alphas have spread out all over the territory, holding the hordes of attackers back. Witches and wizards from the residing coven are fighting side by side with the wolves, deflecting curses and sending their own in the other direction.

Everyone seems encouraged by their King being in the middle of the fray with them, not running and hiding, letting his people fight alone. Rumors of the royal children and future Luna being kidnaped have swirled, and when Abby is missing from their middle, they all know she is on a mission to save the children and will be back. It’s a comforting thought amid war and despair.

Narine is leading the attack. She has revenge to extract on certain people here. Narine doesn’t care about Sylla and Leo’s plans to capture, torture, and kill Abby and her brats. She is only here because this is her opportunity to kill Jasmin and Adriana.

The old farts who orchestrated her escape try to order her around. To stay back at letting the men handle the situation, because this is too dangerous for a proper lady.

Narine sneers at them, rounding and using her magic to have them kill each other. Soon all six of them are laying at her feet, dead and gone. The stupidity of men has not changed the last couple of hundreds of years. She smiles at her macabre handiwork, hoping someone will step upon it soon and be scared for life before moving on.

From the little bag Sylla had ready for her, she finds the communication mirror. She lifts it to her lips, saying the name she had on her mind ever since she escaped.

“Laurus”

In the mirror, the face of the King of demons appears.

“Narine, me dear child. How are things coming along?” He asks, a lazy smile on his lips. He has let Narine take charge over this attack, just providing her with the number of demons she needs. They will return to him after all if they are not vanquished.

“I am about to enter the battle, but things are looking good. And on your end?” She asks back. She hopes he can keep his end of the deal, so Jax will have no alternative to take her as Queen when this is over.

“The girl is on her way, wanting to help her family. Maximillian is busy with.. Other things. He doesn’t know she is gone.” The King smiles at Narine, a smile that doesn’t reach his eyes. He enjoys these intrigues as much as the next demon, but he is hoping his firstborn son will soon stop this endless and pointless chase on the weird witch girl, and get his eyes on Narine. She is the Queen he himself would have wished for.

Narine nods, closing the connection and concentrating on the task at hand. Whenever that bitch entered the battlefield, she was dead. She walks out in the open, her dark blue magic swirling around her hands, her mother’s laughter in her ears. Ah! The smell of b***d and death in the morning.

Jasmin notice her opponent enter the field, fashionably late as always. She links Adriana to be aware of Narine’s arrival. Jamis doesn’t like the satisfied glint in her eyes and the smirk playing on her lips as she slaughter everyone in her reach.

Jasmin, tired of the advantage of the attackers, gathers her royal aura. She stands her ground and orders the demons within her aura’s reach to stand down and go back to the underworld. Some try to fight her, but others bow in her direction and vanish. She knows it won’t hold the off forever; she needs her brothers here. The immediate threat here is over, the rouges and witches are no match for the mate and the other wolves and the witches on their side.

She turns her attention to Narine, when a howl pierces the sky. It is one of sorrow and pain. Someone is dead, someone with a high rank. Jasmin can’t link with the wolves, only with her own people, because she is a demon princess. She might be a shifter. Then a light bulb goes off in her. She is a shifter.

‘About damn time you remembered me.” Sundancer says sarcastically in her mind. Jasmin rolls her eyes, shifts into her eagle, and takes off. Everyone around her stops fighting when her eagle gives an ear-piercing screech.

‘Adriana, we need to get Jasper, Jax and Willow here. ASAP! I will keep watch over the sky, but I can’t communicate with the wolves. If I land, can one of the witches do a linking spell on me and my mate?’ Jasmin asks from above them. Adriana asks her question to no one in particular. One witch volunteer to do it, and Jasmin lands gracefully.

When that is done, she takes off again, this time with Jonathan’s voice in her head.

‘Be careful, Angel.’

‘I will, and you too. Tell Jeremy Adriana has to go fetch my brothers and Willow..’ She is interrupted when a tiny figure approaches the battle.

‘Never mind, she has to fetch my brothers, and it has to be now! Willow just arrived.’

‘I will,’ Jonathan answers before closing the link for now.

Jasmin sores over to the other side of the battle where two wolves are laying very still on the ground. She watches as Willow runs to them, dodging and avoiding attacks like a pro. She uses her magic to deflect attacks, sending lightning and fire in all directions where defenders are in trouble. Jasmin and Sundancer are bursting with pride, looking over their future Queen. As if she can feel them watching, she looks up with a smile and waves.

On the ground, Willow was running as fast as she can. She can feel the sorrow emanating from this particular area of the battle. She feels watched over and looks up to see a giant eagle flying directly over her. Jasmin. Jax has told her about their animals, so she is sure this is her. She smiles and waves before concentrating on the task at hand. She needs to hurry.

As she arrives, the wolves who don’t know her growls and make ready to attack her. Then a huge wolf walks ahead, sniffs her and nods. She smiles at him. Blade. He smells of her sister, a smell she would never forget.

He moves away, and she runs to the wolves laying on the ground. Their wounds are deep, and one laid over the other, as if he was trying to protect the other wolf. Seconds later they shift back, and Willow gasp. Ornata and Greyson are laying dead before her, and she knows it too late. She can’t do anything to save them. Tears stream down her cheeks.

“I’m so sorry, Matt, Blade. I can’t get them back. Their souls are gone, they are.. I’m so, so, sorry!” She chokes the words out while she is trying to get it together. She hates that she can’t bring everyone back, but that’s the fact of the matter.

Blade, taking in the sopping girl, rubs his snout along her arm. He howls again, this time he gets an answer from everyone around him. Even the other alphas.

Willow looks at the bracelet she’s gotten from Jax.

“If you ever need me, whisper my name to this and I will be at your side in an instant.” He had told her. She is about to do just that when an explosion near them spread everyone out. Willow protects the bodies of the late alpha and Luna, but it blasted her and everyone else back.

Matt and Jason taking the majority of the hit, bleeding profusely. Their eyes are staring ahead with the life draining from them. Willow gets up, the explosion ringing in her ear, things around her moving in slow-motion. She moves towards the two hurt wolves when someone grabs her from behind.

“You lost.” A familiar drawl says in her ear, followed by another piercing howl. Abby. Willow relaxes in the hands of her capture, making her think she has surrendered, biding her time, reading Narine’s thoughts. She has kept her ability of mind reading on the down low, which she is glad she did. Narine will not know what hit her.

Narine drags Willow towards the treeline to the forest, blind in rage, jealousy and hatred.

From the forest, the star wolves emerge with Galaxy and Vega in the lead. They jump into the battle without fear, killing everything and all on their way. Freeing captured defenders, biting, clawing and using their powers to plow through the attackers. Not thinking of themselves or the wounds they obtain on the way.

Galaxy suddenly changes direction from her mate to someone else. Matt has used his last energy to mind-link how Willow is in the claws of Narine. She links to Ellie to get to the guys, with Antares and Morgan. She is taking Isadora and Astra with her to free her sister. Ellie halts for a second.

‘Willow’s in danger?’ She growls through their link.

‘Go to our mates, I got her,’ Abby demands, before rushing in the direction Matt said he saw them. She can feel the void in her, making her feel empty from her mate, who is laying dead beside his brother in arms. But she can’t stop. She is their Queen, and she needs to save Willow at least.

At the treeline, Narine let go of Willow, certain about her belief of no one saw her take the girl. She wants her body to be found quickly, so she won’t take her into the woods.

Willow is sitting on her knees, listening to the crazy woman bragging about how she is going to be the next Queen, how she doesn’t deserve to have Jax as her mate. Something snaps inside of Willow at the words “Jax is your mate.”, and she springs into action. She raises the bracelet to the lips, saying his name, while bursting her magic in Narine’s face.

Had she known all along Jax was her mate? Did he? Of course he did. He had been at her side for as long as she can remember. Always there to protect her, lecture her and hug her when she was sad.

Narine curses and throws her magic back at Willow. Both trying to get the upper hand on the other, but Narine can’t get her bearings before a huge beautiful panther jumps at her. Jax!

Narine screams as the panther tries to bite her throat, but she dodges it again and again.

“Jax, leave her. I need to get to Matt and Jason.” Willow screams at him. He turns his head, and his eyes soften. Willow watches as the panther leaves the wounded girl on the ground and walks to her, laying down so she can jump on his back.

“We need to talk. I know you are my mate.” Willow whispers in his ear. The panther freezes for a second.

‘We will talk after this,’ Jax says in her mind, as the panther teleport to where Matt and Jason have shifted back.

Willow tumbles off his back, crawling to the guys. No, no, no. Not again. She takes a deep breath before yelling into the sky.

“Selene, you OWE US! Bring their wolf spirits back NOW!” Just as her words leave her lips, someone attacks her from behind. Ellie and Abby, who changes directions when Ellie told Willow had arrived out of the blue, hugged her tight in their arms. Mourning the loss of their mates, Matt’s parents and all their pack members, but grateful she was still here to be a pain in their asses.

Willow freed herself when a voice sounded in her ear.

‘This is the first and last time you make such demands, young lady, but you are right. They don’t deserve to die and they don’t want to. The other two, on the other hand, are not coming back. They are happy where they are,’ Selene says in a stern voice.

Willow rolls her eyes, but puts a hand on each guy. A soft golden light emanates from her hands on their chests.

In the sky, Jasmin watches as Jasper arrives with backup. He has gathered a mingle of covens and fae willing to fight for their cause. They take over the battlefield, eradicating the enemy.

The fight is over, but the war has just begun.
