Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew) -
Chapter 3370 Regent's Orders
When Aelred entered his sister's room, he found her lying on the bed, her body covered in bruises and wounds. As she looked at him, her eyes, once full of life, were now filled with nothing but deep disappointment. In that instant, Aelred's heart twisted in agony. He realized then that his sister had seen him standing at the door the previous night. Under the weight of her gaze, Aelred shamefully left her room. Later that day, Aelred carefully prepared a meal and brought it to her.
The porcelain bowl slipped from his hands, shattering on the floor. The meal he had so thoughtfully prepared scattered across the ground, but Aelred didn't care. His eyes were locked on the crimson streak across his sister's wrist. The once-white bedsheets were now stained with red.
Crash!
Aelred rushed forward, cradling his sister in his arms, apologizing over and over, but she did not respond. His eyes, now filled with the same red as her blood, blazed with fury. It was as if he had become a different person.
He rose, grabbed a short knife from the kitchen, and stood by the door, waiting. When the man who had spent the day pretending to be a saint returned, cursing as usual, Aelred greeted him with the glint of the knife.
With savage fury, Aelred hacked the man to pieces, his rage unabated even after the man had become unrecognizable. When others found him, Aelred was still hacking at the body, over and over again.
Despite the violence, Aelred was eventually acquitted. Afterward, he became an ascetic monk, traveling barefoot across Montiria, even visiting distant lands like Dornia and Druira. It was as though he had erased all the horrors of his past, always greeting people with a serene, gentle smile.
In the dimly lit prison cell, the sound of heavy breathing filled the air. A pair of crimson eyes glowed from the shadows of the opposite cell.
...
"Kid, if you really have a way to get me out of this prison, I'll take you as my disciple and pass on my legacy. You'll have my protection, and no one will dare cross you." Aelred's raspy voice echoed through the cell.
Rocco smiled. He knew his plan was working. "Patience, it won't be long now."
Time crawled by, and the violent glint in those crimson eyes grew increasingly intense. Aelred was losing his patience. Suddenly, the door to the death row prison swung open. A guard entered, humbly leading someone into the cell.
"Rocco, you're free to go," the guard said as he opened Rocco's cell door.
The figure behind the guard immediately knelt upon seeing Rocco. "Anton Cunningham, the steward of the Cunningham Family, greets Mr. Rocco!" Anton's voice echoed through the dark prison.
Rocco leisurely stepped out of his cell, glancing at Anton as he spoke. "Get up. The ground is filthy."
This was Rocco's greatest secret,
one he had hidden for over twenty years. He wasn't just any Rocco; he was Rocco Cunningham, a direct descendant of the Cunningham family's senior branch. If not for the unfortunate events that had brought his father to Montiria, Rocco wouldn't have had to endure and hide his true identity for so long.
"Open his cell," Rocco said, pointing to the opposite cell where Aelred was imprisoned.
The guard's face went pale as he looked in the direction Rocco was pointing. "He's the most dangerous prisoner in Montiria. We absolutely cannot release him!" "Do you intend to defy the Regent's orders?"
The guard hesitated, torn between fear and duty. "At the very least, we'd need the Regent himself to-"
Before the guard could finish, Rocco punched him hard in the stomach
"How dare you defy the orders of the Regent? Don't you know even the Princess Consort shows respect to him?"
Rocco rummaged through the guard's belongings, retrieving a unique key. He wasted no time, inserting it into the lock of the cell in front of him.
