Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1310
**Personal issues? Romantic troubles? It seemed odd to discuss such matters with an assistant, yet here we were.**
Brielle was about to turn and greet Aubree when she overheard Ricardo saying, "Aubree hasn't had a good night's sleep in days. Let her rest; I'll only take an hour of your time."
With Ricardo and Aubree being the golden geese of the company, along with Keiran, their popularity was enough to dominate the entertainment industry. Naturally, Brielle couldn't afford to overlook them. "Alright, let's go."
Ricardo watched her step into the elevator, a fleeting, deep look crossing his eyes.
*So gullible.*
Had Aubree not let it slip, he wouldn't have known that Brielle's life experiences had somehow regressed a few years.
She was now just a recent college grad. Though she still had the same work ethic, she was undeniably too young.
Ricardo lowered his gaze, turning to look at the sunlight outside.
He remembered something Brielle had once said about standing in the sunlight. But was it really possible to stand in the sunlight?
This period felt like a beautiful dream, but all dreams must come to an end.
Inside the elevator, Brielle urged him, "Ricardo, what are you daydreaming about?"
Ricardo tossed his plastic cup into a nearby trash can, a youthful and sunny smile on his face.
"I'm coming."
Downstairs, Ricardo took the wheel himself. Through the rearview mirror, he noticed Brielle looking out the window without a hint of suspicion, prompting him to ask. "Mr. Haywood, do you remember Mark from the orphanage?"
Brielle paused, then lowered her lashes.
"I do. Mark was so kind to me. It's been a long time since I visited. Now that I've found my love, I should really pay him a visit, along with the kids at the orphanage." Ricardo, gripping the steering wheel, had a complex look in his eyes.
*A pang of guilt.*
"The weather's nice today, Mr. Haywood. How about I join you for the visit?"
Brielle was surprised. Ricardo, a star, knew about the orphanage?
Ricardo glanced at the rearview mirror again. "A friend of mine also came from that orphanage. Let's pay a visit."
Brielle felt reassured. "I keep thinking there's something wrong with my memory. Now that I'm making money, I should have immediately thought to donate to the orphanage. But when I got my first paycheck, it didn't even cross my mind. I feel so guilty." The drive to the orphanage was a long one, given its location on the outskirts.
Half an hour into the drive, Ricardo suddenly stopped the car.
Brielle thought he was stepping out for a smoke, but instead, Ricardo opened the back door.
"Mr. Haywood, do you have Mr. Dorsey's number? Give him a call first."
Brielle, puzzled, did not refuse but took out her phone and dialed King's number in front of Ricardo.
King, pondering over where to hang an ancient painting, softened at her call.
"Brielle?"
"King, I-"
She barely got a few words out before Ricardo took the phone from her hand.
"Mr. Dorsey."
He called out.
King's eyes narrowed, gently placing the painting down.
"What's the matter?"
"I'm Ricardo."
"I can tell.

Ricardo chuckled, his fingertips tapping on the car.
"Mr. Dorsey's right. But if both paths are blocked, perhaps it's time to consider a third."
King wasn't alarmed, his gaze sharp. "Let's hear it."
He sat down on the couch, already using another phone to have his people trace Brielle's location.
"Mr. Dorsey, don't bother. I have a bit of a reputation on the European hit list. If I sense anyone after me, I'¶¶ ensure Mr. Haywood and I make a swift exit. You'd lose more than you'd gain." en FindNovel
Brielle watched Ricardo, feeling the aura around him change. *Menacing and eerie.*
Her brow furrowed,
memories of
him wielding a knife in a frenzied attack flashing through her mind, her face turning pale. She raised a hand to her forehead, only to see Ricardo looking her way, offering her a bottle of water.
Brielle didn't drink, the unsettling flash leaving her deeply uneasy.
