Mating the Female Alpha
Chapter 50 – Telling Jessie the truth.

Jessie's POV

It was true.

The female Alpha was the omega, Denise.

Denise was actually Bernice.

She wore an Alpha uniform, and her aura appeared different. Stronger, confident, and brave. But it was clearly the face of the omega she had come to know and love so dearly. Jessie had been deceived; she had been lied to.

There was an ache in her chest as she swallowed down a cry. Her lip started to quiver and she blinked away the tears that had formed in her eyes.

She couldn't believe the one she thought was her friend, had been lying to her. Even her own brother had been lying to her. It was clear in this picture that everything said has been a lie. She could hardly get her thoughts in order before the door to the study opened and Landry stood before her.

Jessie didn't even feel him approaching, but she didn't care that he had caught her. She was furious at him for keeping such a secret and she demanded answers.

"Why are you in here when I'm not present?" Landry asked, shutting the door behind him. he sounded annoyed, but he was used to Jessie snooping around where she doesn't belong. "The better question is, how could you lie to me this entire time?"

He rose his brows, looking around at his sister's stern and clearly hurt features.

"What are you on about?"

"The female Alpha," she said, folding her arms across her chest. "How could you not tell me the female Alpha is the omega that you are keeping in your palace? You lied to me. You've been lying to everybody." Landry stared at her for a long while, trying to figure out what she had found out.

"You were snooping on my computer," he muttered. "What have I told you about snooping through my stuff, Jessie."

"Don't change the subject," she snapped; tears began flooding out of her eyes. "You lied to me. You both lied to me. She's the female Alpha. Did you think no one would find out?"

Landry sighed and walked towards his desk.

"I was keeping her here for her own well-being," Landry admits. "She was attacked by an assassin, and I fear they will return to try and finish the job."

"Was that why I was attacked? Because they wanted her?" Her words quivered as she spoke. "I almost died, Landry."

"I wouldn't have let that happen," Landry assured her, trying to keep himself as calm as possible, but it was hard when Jessie was becoming frantic.

"So, you really are in love with the female Alpha?" Jessie asks, keeping her eyes locked on her brother. "That's why you are keeping her here. Isn't it? Did you know the maids think you are imprisoning her? I've heard the rumors. They think she is a prisoner. Is she a prisoner? Because she expressed not sharing your feelings, Landry. Did you kidnap her?"

"You are sounding ridiculous," Landry said with an eye roll.

"How am I to know for sure what happened when you had already lied to me?" She asked as more tears fell from her eyes.

She went to say something more, but a voice stopped her.

"I asked him not to say anything. Please, don't be angry with him, Jessie," Bernice says from the doorway. Neither of them noticed she was standing there. Jessie froze, but she didn't turn to look at who she thought was her friend. She hears the door shutting behind Bernice as she strolled into the study.

"I didn't want to lie to anybody... but I had no choice. This is my mess. Not Landry's. He was just trying to protect me..."

"Protect you from what?" She asks, her voice cracking as more tears escaped her eyes.

"From myself," she breathed, keeping her eyes on Jessie's eyes. "I was born out of wedlock. My father was an Alpha, and my mother was nothing more than a lowly omega. He never loved her enough to marry her, but she died when I was very young. I have several older brothers, all of whom were born Alphas. But they died in battle, leaving my younger brother, who was also born an Alpha, as the only one who can take over as Alpha of the Sunset Pack. The only problem was he was too young. So, my father and stepmother forced me to take this medication to turn me into an Alpha. Just until my brother can take over in my place. I was to train him on everything I learned and make sure that he was ready to be an Alpha. That's my sole purpose..."

"Your father is forcing you to be an Alpha?" Jessie asked; there was a ping of doubt in her mind, but Bernice looked so serious and parts of her looked worn out. Bernice nodded slowly.

"The side effect of the medication is that I can never find my mate...." She continued to explain, causing Jessie to gasp. Even Landry seemed surprised by her words. Jessie wondered if he knew about that detail. "And also, I will die when I reach the age of 25."

"What?" Jessie gasps. "Die?"

"I'm afraid so," Bernice said, staring at the ground with a saddened expression.

"No, you won't," Landry says firmly, surprising Jessie. "I'm going to find a way to save your life..."

Jessie knew there had to be more to this story; she knew they were having a sexual relationship. She wondered how that fits in, but she didn't ask. She figured she learned enough information for one day. Her head was already whirling. "I'm sorry for keeping this from you, Jessie. But I do find you to be a rather good friend," Bernice says.

"So, your name... it isn't Denise?" She asks, peering over at the fake female Alpha.

She shakes her head.

"No," she answers. "It's Bernice."

Jessie was quiet for a little while longer as she processed this information.

"Well," she finally said, forcing a smile on her face to show that she was unbothered. "You are certainly more beautiful than they initially told me. You don't look manly at all."

Bernice looked surprised by this, but she laughed lightly.

"Thank you... I think," she says, brushing her fingers through her long hair.

"I won't say anything about this..." Jessie says, looking between the two of them. "I'll keep your secret."

Bernice looked relieved by this and Landry gave her a nod of approval.

If Bernice couldn't find her mate because of the medication, that meant that Landry could possibly be her mate. Maybe this fake female Alpha was what he needed. She still seemed to be the same as she was before. Only her identity was a lie. Perhaps she was fit to be the luna queen after all.

Tina's POV

Deep in the woods, in her wolf form, Tina roamed free. It was her time to hunt as she could feel the full moon approaching and her strength was nearing the peak. It was also one of the easiest ways for her to clear her mind.

She was annoyed after her last exchange with Landry. If only he knew what her father was planning, then maybe he wouldn't be too cruel toward her.

It didn't matter anymore.

He was going to see soon enough that it'll be her beside him on the throne and that omega will be right back where she belonged. In the trash.

The very thought caused her to smile even as she remained in her wolf form.

She only paused for a moment when she heard the howling of faraway wolves. Their growls sounded much crueler than an average wolf and it caused her heart to race rapidly in her chest.

It seemed as if they were getting closer to her; they could smell her.

Tina wasn't planning on lingering around much longer. She needed to get home. She turned and was about to leap the opposite way through the forest, but she was stopped by the growling of a wolf.

She realized she was surrounded by these dirty wolves.

They weren't normal wolves though.

Oh, goddess.

They were rogues.
