Mating the Female Alpha
Chapter 49 – Snooping through brother’s stuff.

Bernice's

POV

"Love?" I gasp, shaking my head quickly. "No, that's not it at all. I've already told you that..."

"I know; that you wouldn't know what love feels like. That is what love feels like, silly," she chuckled. "It's not always pleasant. Sometimes it makes you feel sick to your stomach. But if this only happens when Landry is around, then that's what I'm assuming it is." I suddenly felt like there wasn't enough air to breathe in this room.

I didn't want to believe what she was saying could be true. Landry and I had an agreement that we would be sex partners and nothing more. Then again, I did agree to go with him on that date and we did have a nice time.

I felt my cheeks grow warm at the memory. He made me laugh harder than I laughed in a long time. We ate a ton of food, and he didn't seem to judge me for how much I ate. He even took me to see his father's statue. Not to mention we shared the same bed last night and we didn't even have sex.

What was that about?

"Do you really have to ask that?" Julia said in my ear. "You know he has feelings for you. He's openly admitted it. Stop being so naive."

I chose to ignore the nagging of my wolf.

"Admit it," Jessie chuckled again. "You have the hots for Landry. I always knew it. He's hard to resist."

She was sounding like my wolf.

I wanted to protest, but she spoke again, stopping my words.

"When you get married, we will be actual sisters," she laughed; she was doing this on purpose, knowing that it made me uncomfortable.

I felt my face grow even redder; I didn't wish to speak about this anymore. If I really did have feelings for Landry, it was something I needed to figure out on my own. Love didn't come easy to me, not even in my family. My father never loved my mother and I'm not even sure if he loved my stepmother, Lilith.

"Oh relax," Jessie said, waving her hand in my face to break me out of my thoughts. "Just take it slow and see what happens."

She was right; I didn't need to decide my feelings this very second. I promised Landry I would give it a try and that's exactly what I'm going to do.

I just didn't think it would be this painful physically.

...

Jessie's POV

It was clear there was something Denise wasn't saying, and Jessie made a promise to herself to find out exactly what that was. The maids cleared the table and Jessie leaves the dining hall, parting ways with Denise.

She was planning on returning to her palace, but she heard a couple of voices from around the corner as she passed through the living room corridors.

It was a couple of gossiping maids; she knows gossip when she hears it.

"I can't get over how much like that female Alpha the Omega looks..." one of the maids whispered. "It's uncanny."

"Why would the female Alpha be pretending to be an Omega? Wouldn't the king notice this by now?"

"It's obvious he's covering it up," she says in return. "They are hiding something..."

Jessie didn't make herself known to the maids. Instead, she backed away slowly and slipped through the other door, leading out of the living room. Could it be true? That the female Alpha and the Omega were the same people?

No. That would be impossible. Landry couldn't be that stupid.

Could he?

It was rumored that the female Alpha looked more like a manly warrior than a feminine Omega. They couldn't have been the same person. Then again, it was also said that the female Alpha has been on a mission in the north for a while now and the other Alphas haven't seen her since.

What was that female Alpha's name?

She couldn't remember for the life of her.

In frustration, she huffed.

Jessie went through the main foyer of Landry's palace, smiling at a couple of servants as she passed by.

She wasn't planning on leaving now; she wanted to figure out for certain who this female Alpha was and what she looked like.

Landry had to have a picture of her somewhere.

She went up the stairs until she reached the top floor; she knew Landry wasn't in his office because she couldn't sense him nearby. But still, she knocked on the door. When he didn't answer, she smiled, knowing that his office was vacant. She opened the door and peered inside; there was nobody in sight. Now she just had to do a little snooping until she found what she was looking for. She also hoped that nobody would spot her snooping around her brother's belongings. Landry proved to be a mess and kept his papers scattered across his desk.

She rummaged through the papers that occupied his desk, frowning as she scanned some of the documents. There will be a battle soon and his troops were listed on the same page.

Most of the troops were male; she could tell by their names. But one stood out as the female.

Bernice.

It sounded a lot like Denise.

Would they really give her a fake name that sounded so much like her real name? Landry couldn't have been that stupid.

At least now she had a name, but that wasn't helpful. She needed to know if Bernice and Denise were the same people.

She rummaged through more of his stuff but found nothing more on her. She decided to go to his computer; he must keep digital files on his alpha's somewhere on his computer. Thankfully, his password was nothing more than his birthday. Jessie was easily able to locate the files he kept on his computer and scrolled until she found a file icon that had Bernice's name on it.

She swallowed hard before clicking on the icon.

She was right initially; Bernice was the name of the female Alpha. He has it in the system that she is on a secret mission in the northern region, but doesn't specify what it is. The northern region was close to the Vampire territory. Perhaps she was acting as a spy for Landry.

It doesn't say anything about her being an omega, but she still wanted to see what this female Alpha looked like.

She continued scrolling through the documents; it only said something brief about her personal life. Her mother died when she was young, and her father was once the Alpha of the Sunset pack, but now Bernice is the Alpha. It also mentioned something about her brothers, who have died in battle.

Denise mentioned something about having brothers as well and that was how she learned how to fight.

Jessie furrowed her brows together and shook her head, dismissing the thought.

That couldn't have meant anything. It was just a coincidence.

She scrolled a little way further when she saw an image icon. This had to have been a picture of her. It was now or never; she was finally going to see what this female Alpha looked like.

She clicked the image and waited for it to load....

She gasped loudly, stumbling back from the computer.

She couldn't believe her eyes; she could hardly breathe.

Clear, on the computer, in full Alpha warrior uniform, was the Omega... Denise.
