Miss, My Father loves you -
Chapter 22 Back To The Old Days
"Fine!"
Benjamin reluctantly left Daryl for school.
Although the boy was gifted, Zack still wanted Benjamin to learn what kids his age should learn. It didn't bother him that much since the quality of education in this private school was one of the best in the country.
In the front seat, Dillon couldn't help but comment, "Mrs. Ji, Bennie really likes you. We have been watching over him for years and we have never seen him be so intimate with other people, not even with his father." This made Daryl smile. "Really?"
She didn't think it was strange. In fact, with Zack's cold and domineering character, it would be stranger if a child would get close with him.
"Where are we going next?"
Dillon asked.
The question put Daryl in a dilemma. She frowned slightly. Just now, Zack was in such a bad mood that he cut her off her role.
Where should she go now?
Her phone rang in the midst of her uncertainty. She looked at the caller ID, it was Sofia.
"I'm so sorry Sofia. I didn't..." Daryl wanted to apologize because she couldn't settle the problem, but she was cut off by Sofia's excited voice. "Daryl, where are you now? Come and find me! I'm at Mars Film and Television Base. Hurry up! You got the supporting role!"
She couldn't believe her ears. Daryl was stunned for a moment. When it all sunk in, she asked, "Sofia, are you serious?"
"Of course!" Sofia chuckled. "Silly girl, you need to come here! The director is preparing for the launching ceremony. Will you come?" Daryl held her phone tightly. She could barely suppress her excitement. "Yes!"
"Okay then, come here! Quickly!"
"I'll be there!"
Right after the call ended, Daryl turned to Dillon. "Let's go to Mars Film and Television Base. And hurry up please!"
To this, Dillon replied, "Right away."
It didn't take long before the luxurious Lincoln arrived.
"Ms. Ji, please be careful at work. If anything happens, don't hesitate to contact me,"
said Dillon, handing her his calling card.
"Okay, thank you!"
Daryl took it quickly, got out of the car and hurriedly went to the place where she and Sofia would meet.
Mars Film and Television Base was the largest film and television base in D City. Many of the popular TV series and movies were taken in here. Some directors even built a palace here regardless of the sky-high price in order to shoot a historical TV production. Because of the success of the TV series, they kept the palace and it became one of the scenic spots.
Sofia and Daryl agreed to meet at the north gate. When Daryl arrived, she saw Sofia.
They hadn't met each other for years.
Daryl was not a stranger with the place. She had spent most of her working hours there and was familiar with its every corner.
The north gate was where they liked to meet the most. It was the gathering place for walk-ons and extras. Actors and ordinary people didn't like going here.
Personally, Daryl liked this place because there weren't a lot of people here. She also occasionally heard interesting things from the walk-ons.
"Why are you just standing there?"
This made Daryl come back to her senses. She then saw that Sofia had already run the distance between them.
Daryl hugged Sofia tightly. Her eyes were starting to water and she felt a lump in her throat. Her voice was trembling. "Sofia, we're going back to the old days, aren't we?"
Sofia was shocked by the sudden burst of emotions. She then let out a sigh.
Maybe only she could understand what Daryl went through and experienced along the way.
Sofia nodded, "Yes, silly girl. We'll go back to the old days.
The two had been working together in the entertainment industry. They protected each other from all the storms that came.
"Well, we have to come in or we would miss the ceremony."
Sofia gave her a pat on the shoulder to comfort her. "Okay."
Daryl wiped her tears and fixed her composure. Then the two of them, together again, stepped into the base.
Daryl then found out that Jackson had been replaced by Vivian Gu, a female director.
Daryl knew about her. Vivian made her debut with a literature movie. Later on, she directed a few campus plays and all of them were successful.
Queen of Charm, in particular, was one of her most challenging work.
Standing in the middle of the crowd, Vivian looked very conspicuous. She was tall and thin, with her curly hair. A light blue suit made her all the more elegant. She wore a pair of black sunglasses that made her red lips pop out. She looked like a fashion model. Her image was a little different from the director that Daryl had imagined.
"Hello, Director Gu. This is Daryl Ye."
Sofia ushered Daryl to Vivian.
With a polite bow, Daryl greeted her, "Hello, Director Gu. I'm Daryl."
Hmm. Vivian only gave her a glance and a slight nod.
As for Daryl, Vivian also knew of her. After all, Daryl had won the Best Actress Award. Her looks and acting skills were considered top-tier.
However, Vivian didn't let her thoughts show. She had always been calm and composed. Even if a Hollywood star came to her, she wouldn't really be that excited. All that Vivian wanted to do was do her job well.
And that was why Vivian had always been strict with the actors in her crew.
"Is everyone here?"
Vivian asked.
Her assistant looked around and responded, "Director Gu, one of the female supporting roles, Lucy Guan, hasn't arrived yet."
To this, Vivian pursed her red lips and ordered, "No need to wait. Prepare to start."
"Yes."
The assistant moved as soon as she heard the order.
Daryl and Sofia bore witness to this and gave each other a look.
They knew that Vivian had very strict standards. She didn't care much about popularity of her actors.
It was known that Lucy was a model. She attracted a large number of fans because of her relationships with some famous actors-enough to boost her career and for her to start her own studio.
She had also acted in several TV series, but all of them were minor and supporting roles. Her acting skills were neither bad nor noteworthy. It was enough that no one would question her.
The most remarkable thing about Lucy was that she had a lot of connections.
Daryl remembered that most of the celebrities in the entertainment industry would celebrate whenever Lucy's birthday came.
