Chapter 35 I Won't Wait

After playing in the amusement park for more than half a day, Daryl was extremely exhausted. She walked Maruko with Benjamin in the afternoon. Zack worked in the study.

Soon, the sun began to set, and darkness slowly covered the sky.

When Zack got out of the study and roamed around the living room, he found no signs of Daryl and Benjamin. So, he walked outside the house and found them in the garden. "Mommy, this flower is for you!"

Benjamin picked a beautiful red rose for her. "I hope Mommy will be as beautiful as this rose every day!"

Daryl's heart melted. She took the rose, bent over, and planted a soft kiss on his forehead. "Thank you, Bennie.

Benjamin giggled, obviously happy with his mother's affection.

He thought of giving his mommy more flowers in the future.

Meanwhile, Zack, who was silently watching them from afar, bore a gloomy face. For some reason, he didn't like seeing Daryl planting soft kisses on Benjamin's face. Before making his presence, Zack turned around and went back into the living room. "Sir, what happened?"

Dillon asked after seeing Zack slumped on the sofa with a cold aura.

"Call them back for dinner.

There are still three minutes before seven o'clock. If they are late, I won't wait!" Zack ordered in a stern voice. Hearing this, Dillon nodded and immediately turned around to look for Benjamin and Daryl.

'Since when did they have such a rule for dinner?' he thought.

As soon as he saw the mother and son, Dillon hurriedly informed, Mrs. Ji, Bennie, it's time for dinner.

Mr. Ji said that you have to sit at the dining area table before seven o'clock. If you are late, he won't wait!" Daryl widened her eyes and asked, "What?"

She couldn't believe her ears.

"Daddy must be angry again!" Benjamin exclaimed, puffing up his cheeks in utter dissatisfaction.

But he couldn't figure out why his father was mad again this time.

"Well, there are still two minutes left. You can go in now," Dillon urged them.

Coming to her senses, Daryl quickly took Benjamin into the dining room.

When they came in, Zack was already sitting straight at the table. He exuded a cold aura that none of them felt comfortable approaching anywhere near him. The man was really furious.

Slowly, Daryl and Benjamin sat opposite him.

"Daddy!"

Benjamin was about to ask why he made such a rule when Zack interrupted coldly.

"Benjamin, don't talk while eating!"

The poor kid swallowed and tried hard to hold back his anger.

Meanwhile, Daryl lowered her head and ate in utter silence.

Seeing that she was so obedient, Zack became even more irritated. 'Is she afraid of me?

Even Benjamin tried to talk back, but this woman is so timid!' he thought.

Therefore, the more careful Daryl was, the more aggravated Zack got.

'Mr. Ji, are you trying to attract Mrs. Ji's attention?' Dillon thought internally as he silently observed the dining scene. But why did he feel that Daryl was only afraid of Zack? Thankfully, the dinner went on smoothly without them bickering at each other's throats.

Afterwards, Daryl took Benjamin upstairs, leaving Zack alone downstairs.

But on the outside, he didn't seem to be affected at all. He even sat on the sofa and watched the nighttime news on the television. However, deep down, he felt troubled. How could he not be? He was jealous of his own son. That night, Zack was alienated from his son and wife, as if he was some stranger.

In the Lu family house

Leon seldom went home after the accident. He had been dealing with some business outside, and Candida was busy with hiding from the public.

Katrina was all alone at home, enjoying the comfortable life of a noble lady.

But today, she came back feeling flustered after playing mahjong with several rich ladies.

During their game, she heard some gossipy friends discussing a female star who was making a comeback.

She didn't pay much attention to it at first, but when she heard that the female star's name was Daryl, she immediately panicked.

Fortunately, Daryl and her son had gotten married in secret, so no outsider knew that she used to be Daryl's mother-in-law.

Even so, Katrina couldn't sit still. If Daryl really came back to the entertainment industry, it would bring the Lu family big trouble.

Katrina was extremely anxious since the Lu family was in the center of a storm right now. If Daryl revealed some news about the Lu family, it would easily cause a blow to the family.

The more she thought about it, the more flustered Katrina became. So, in a hurry, she called her son.

"Mom, why are you calling so late?" Leon sounded tired.

He had been working so hard lately, and the Lu Group was finally getting back to its feet, thanks to his tremendous efforts. However, Leon's attempt to curry favor with the CEO of Ji Group went down the drain. It cost him a lot of money to invite his secretary for dinner just to get his schedule, but all his efforts were in vain.

So, he was exhausted physically and mentally.

"Leon, have you read the news on the Internet?"

Katrina asked him anxiously. "Daryl has reappeared! She is back filming now!"

"What?"

Leon frowned.

He had planned to find her and ask her about the boy who tricked him and Candida, but Daryl changed all her contact information and disappeared without any trace.

When Leon went to the hospital to threaten Daryl with her mother, he was surprised to find that her mother was not there anymore.

Left with no choice, Leon gave up looking for her for the time being and instead focused on gaining Zack's favor first.

Before he could butter Zack up, he got news of Daryl.

"Yes, it's true. She's all over the Internet. Apparently, she's shooting a movie called Queen of Charm. She's been the talk of the town for days now." A hint of worry and alarm could be traced in Katrina's voice. "What if that bitch says something bad about us? Have you found her dying mother?"

Katrina thought that if she could grab hold of Daryl's mother, at least she could threaten her not to spill anything.

"No. Her mother was transferred a long time ago.

It's my fault. I underestimated her. That woman can turn the tables!" Leon exclaimed with evident frustration.

Not only did she successfully get back to filming even with his obstruction, but she also discreetly transferred her sick mother without him knowing.

"Then, what should we do?"

Katrina was most afraid of having her luxurious life ruined. "Leon, you must find a way. We can't afford any trouble now!"
