Miss, My Father loves you -
Chapter 36 Zack Drove Them
"I know,"
Leon answered irritably. Not wanting to say another word, he said, "Mom, I'm tired. I'm hanging up."
After dropping the call, he sighed while he was staring at the scenic beauty of D City during the night. "Leon."
Donned in a bathrobe, Candida came from behind him. "Who was calling you just now? You don't look happy." "It's my mom."
Leon turned around and held her in his arms, gently rubbing his chin against her hair. "Mom said that Daryl has gone back to work and managed to hit the headlines of the entertainment circle."
Upon hearing this, Candida's eyes lit up a little, but she quickly concealed it. Then, she asked with a hint of concern, "Has my sister gone back to work? I haven't heard from her a few days.
I thought she had become homeless, so I wanted to send her some money."
When he heard her remark, Leon thought how kindhearted she was. He touched her face affectionately and said, "Candida, you don't have to blame yourself for anything that happens to that bitch."
"But I'm a little scared that my sister will say something unfavorable about us." Candida's eyes were overcame with worry. "I honestly don't care that much. I'm just afraid that your mom won't be able to bear it. And I don't want our baby to be blamed as soon as it's born." "I'm not going to let that happen,"
Leon assured her. "Honey, you've got to trust me. I'll protect you and our child to the best of my abilities."
"Okay."
At this point, Candida felt so moved that she embraced him.
Leon also wrapped his arms around her and held her tightly. His eyes glinted with a touch of anger. If Daryl ever dared to go against him, he would do everything in his power to make her taste the feeling of losing her dignity once more. The following day
After using Ronan's ointment on her wound, Daryl felt that her arm was almost healed.
She had gotten up early to have breakfast, and was about to meet Sofia in the film and television base. Today's shooting had some scenes she was part of.
"Mommy, are you going to drive me to school today?" Benjamin asked.
Hearing the child's sweet voice, Daryl smiled. She was about to say yes, but a stern voice interrupted her.
"Benjamin, why don't you let me drive you to school today instead?"
"No way!"
Benjamin protested. "No, Daddy. I want Mommy to drive me!
"Are you sure?"
Zack warned while casting a glance at him.
"Fine..."
Benjamin's momentary bravery dissipated in an instant. "Daddy, just do as you wish."
Seeing this interaction, Daryl asked softly, "What about me?"
She and Benjamin usually took the same car to go out. If Zack was going to drive Benjamin to school, what about her?
Zack glanced at her coldly, and said, "Well, do you want to walk to the shooting location?"
"Not a chance."
Daryl shook her head, realizing that he was implying that she had to take his car too.
As soon as they were finished with breakfast, Zack and Benjamin got into the car, and Daryl trailed behind them.
Benjamin's car was a black Rolls-Royce.
The car looked so luxurious and elegant.
While they were inside the car, Daryl and Benjamin sat in silence.
After they dropped off Benjamin at the school, only Daryl and Zack were left inside the car.
The atmosphere between them felt a little awkward. Subconsciously, Daryl touched her noise, trying to think of a topic to raise. "By the way, how was the result of the ointment?' "It's complete garbage," Zack replied in an indifferent voice.
"I see."
Hearing his cold answer, Daryl decided not to pursue the question anymore. Something like this was normal to her now.
'In Zack's point of view, anything worth less than a million dollars is rubbish,' she thought.
In reality, Zack just didn't want to tell her the truth. Somehow, he wanted to protect her, as she was someone who hadn't been tainted by the entertainment circle.
Soon, Daryl finally arrived at the film and television base.
Before stepping out of the car, she politely bade her farewell. "I'm heading out now. Bye."
After speaking, she got out of the car and went on her way.
Through the car window, Zack could see her running towards the agent. His eyes glimmered as he watched her.
"Sir, should we go to the company now?"
Sitting in the front seat was Dillon. He waited until Daryl had gone far enough before speaking to Zack. "Sure,"
Zack answered indifferently as he withdrew his gaze.
Not long after, Daryl met with Sofia at the film and television base. Sofia immediately asked about her arm. "How's it going? Is it feeling any better today? Have you gone to the doctor? Is it going to leave a scar?"
In the entertainment industry, it was a taboo for artists to have scars on their bodies, especially actresses, because it would affect how they looked wearing dresses.
"It's feeling much better now, thanks. I think it's not going to leave any scar,"
Daryl responded. "Don't worry!"
"That's great to hear."
While they were on the way to the set, Sofia asked, "Hey, I saw you get out of a Rolls-Royce car just now. Did that man drop you off?"
Sofia had seen all kinds of luxurious cars of many celebrities, but the Rolls-Royce stood out from the rest. After all, it was a limited edition in D City! It was the only one of its kind.
Every time ordinary rich men caught a glimpse of the car's plate number, they would not dare to approach, for fear of offending the owner.
"Yes."
Daryl nodded. "Is it a little too ostentatious? Will I get photographed?"
"You're overthinking."
Sofia shook her head. "No one would dare to take photos of that car and release them online."
This was D City after all. Any person you met on the street could possibly hail from a rich family, but there was only one family who could make every other wealthy families tremble with fear, and it was the Ji family. Judging by the license plate, the car obviously belonged to the Ji family, so nobody dared to take any photos.
Daryl wasn't sure why, but since Sofia said that she would be fine, she felt relieved.
When they arrived at the set, the director, Vivian, was already preparing for the upcoming scene.
"Is that Director Gu's new assistant?"
Daryl asked curiously when she saw a newcomer standing beside Vivian.
Sofia shook her head and said, "I'm not sure. Maybe."
Normally, a director would not replace their assistant. There were exceptions, though.
Daryl paid it no mind and went on her way to the dressing room to get changed and put on makeup.
"I heard that your arm got scalded by hot water. How are you feeling?"
Lucy asked. She came into the dressing room while Daryl was preparing.
Daryl was a bit surprised that she took the initiative to speak to her, but she soon stood up and answered politely, "I'm alright. I've gotten an entire day's rest at home, and my arm has almost recovered." "Is that so?"
Staring at her slightly porcelain-smooth arm, a glimmer of mischief flashed in Lucy's eyes. 'Did she not use the ointment?'
'That's great to hear!" Lucy flashed another smile. "We have a scene together today. Actually, I came in here to rehearse with you!"
