Miss, My Father loves you -
Chapter 37 The Script Had Been Changed
"Oh! Sounds good."
Daryl nodded politely and invited Lucy to take a seat beside her.
When Lucy sat down, she didn't appear to be in a hurry to rehearse. Instead, she asked, "By the way, I've heard tell that you've won a lot of awards before.
I'm confused. Why did you quit at such a critical moment of your career? Is there some unspeakable reason behind it?"
Daryl flashed a half-smile. "There's really no special reason. I just felt a little tired and confused back then, so I thought I needed a vacation. I just didn't expect that it would take so long."
"To tell you the truth, I've watched some of your previous movies. With your looks and your acting skills, I'm sure you can even play the female lead in this movie!
Lucy raised her chin and spoke in a more casual tone. "Why didn't you compete for the female lead and, instead, acted for the third supporting female? That role is quite annoying." With a serious look, Daryl answered, "Every role that appears in the script serves a purpose.
For me, the key in shooting a good movie is not to pick the best role. As long as I can perform well on the role assigned to me, I will be satisfied." Bearing a bright smile, Lucy said, "Maybe you're right. You're my senior. Would you mind if I call you Daryl from now on?"
"All right."
Daryl nodded.
Not long after, they started rehearsing their lines together. Both of them were performing well. And for the first time ever, Daryl felt like she couldn't underestimate Lucy anymore.
After all, Lucy had been acting for a long time now. It was high time that she cultivated her skills, even if she didn't have any acting skills to begin with.
After rehearsing, Lucy was told that she had to go back for her makeup.
As soon as she was gone, Sofia came in.
"Why did she come to see you? What did she want?"
Daryl glanced at the script in her hand, and nonchalantly answered, "It's nothing serious. She just wanted to rehearse with me, and then we chatted for a while."
"You should be wary of her,"
Sofia warned. "The closer Lucy gets to you, the more likely she's plotting something against you."
"I'll keep that in mind," Daryl reassured her.
The first time she met Jackson, it dawned on her that the entertainment circle was completely different from what it had been a few years ago.
Every time a female actress fell out of stardom, another would rise in place of her. It wasn't surprising at all. There were numerous people who were just as good-looking as Lucy but as poisonous as a snake. Soon, the stylist came in and helped Daryl with her makeup and outfit.
Afterwards, Vivian began to film the scene were the heroine and the second supporting female were together.
In the scene, the two were good friends. The second supporting female was an expert in martial arts. She was careless and frank, and had dealt with countless bullies that went after the heroine.
Lucy's role was quite pleasing. Her own sweet appearance was contrasting with the role she was playing, but this difference didn't make people feel unconvincing.
On the contrary, she played this role more energetic and personable.
To put it simply, when a pretty actress's acting skill wasn't too bad, it would become easier for the audience to accept the role she played.
Daryl's part wasn't coming up yet. She was watching the scene between Lucy and Kayleigh, the leading actress. Kayleigh had been part of the entertainment circle for more than ten years, so her acting was more than enough to impress people.
On the other hand, Lucy was also able to go through her part smoothly. Her role didn't demand a high level of acting, but she wasn't good at enunciating her lines.
At this point, if it was any other actress, Vivian would definitely implore them to practice a lot more. But when it came to Lucy, she didn't say a word after thinking for a while.
The voice actor for that role would have to work harder. Noticing this, Daryl leaned closer to Sofia and whispered, "Vivian is usually very strict, but when it comes to Lucy, she seems a little lax. I thought she had an impartial treatment for everyone when I saw how she ignored Lucy."
"Some things are just not as simple as they appear to be,"
Sofia replied calmly. "The biggest investor behind this play is your husband. However powerful he is, he still keeps a low profile, and he doesn't want his relationship with you to get exposed.
Perhaps there is also some investor behind Lucy. If Vivian finds out that the person behind you is Zack, I'm fairly certain that she will treat you much better."
Upon hearing this, Daryl thought that with Zack's influence, what Sofia said wasn't impossible. She really didn't want to be treated differently just because of her identity.
After that, she just continued to observe the shooting. Soon, the scenes between the heroine and second supporting female were over.
Afterwards, the second supporting female met up with the third supporting female, Tara, which was played by Daryl. The two of them would meet in the imperial garden.
In this play, when Lucy found out that Tara had been hiding in the imperial garden and thought that she was planning to seduce the emperor, she punished her without hesitation.
Tara's tearful and pitiful appearance caught the emperor's attention.
Lucy took a rest for a while. Then, Vivian ushered Daryl into the scene. Perhaps it was due to Sadie's advice that Lucy should treat Daryl like an imaginary enemy that Lucy was able to portray a believable hatred against Daryl.
Some praised her for the excellent performance. But the people who really knew her were able to tell that Lucy was acting based on her nature.
"You, a lowly, disgraceful maid, wishes to seduce the emperor as well?"
As soon as Lucy reached the end of her sentence, she was supposed to order someone to drag Daryl down and start beating her. But all of a sudden, she unexpectedly slapped her.
Daryl had mixed feelings after getting slapped. However, she didn't hear Vivian say "cut," so she had to continue acting.
Kneeling in front of Lucy, she said in a humble and frightened manner that she didn't have any objections, and begged her for mercy.
The people watching them were also surprised that Lucy slapped Daryl. It was a real slap! And it seemed as though she carried a lot of hatred in that slap.
Sofia was also startled when she saw it. But she soon saw the look in Sadie's eyes, who gave her a sardonic smile.
Within a split second, Sofia realized that Lucy and Sadie were planning to give Daryl a hard time.
Unfortunately for them, Daryl was an excellent actress. Even if the script she was given was different, she could press on.
After the scene, Daryl returned to Sofia's side.
"How's it going? Does your face hurt?" Sofia asked worriedly.
"I'm fine. This is nothing." Daryl shook her head. "Sofia, Lucy's script is different from mine."
"What did you say?"
Sofia was stunned for a moment and then realized something. "They must've colluded with the scriptwriter to change the script, and they didn't inform us!"
"I see..."
This was the only plausible reason that Daryl could think of as well.
It turned out that everything had been premeditated by Lucy. Lucy must've asked her to rehearse earlier today, so that she would lower her guard and be unable to react when there was a change on the scene.
