Miss, My Father loves you -
Chapter 42 Is She Afraid Of Me
"He wanted to cause trouble for me,"
Daryl said in a casual demeanor. "But it doesn't matter now. Lewis helped me."
Upon hearing this, Sofia nodded knowingly. "Perhaps he saw the news about you on the Internet, so he went here."
After she said that, she let out a deep sigh. "That Lewis is quite a righteous man, isn't he?"
"I agree," Daryl said with a smile. "And I do think he's quite simple and cute."
When she heard Daryl's remark, Sofia shook her head. "Although Lewis has just made his debut in the entertainment circle, he's already gaining prestige rapidly, and there's no negative statements about him. But you better keep him at arm's length, and don't blindly trust him." "Okay, I understand," Daryl said in a slightly tired voice and hugged her. "Sofia, after everything I've been through, I'm glad that I still have you by my side."
"Silly girl."
Sofia patted her shoulder. "You were born to be part of the entertainment circle. I told you when first I saw you. You are destined to be a star that shines brighter than everyone else in the entertainment circle.
Well then, shall we go? I'll drive you home." 'Sure.
After that, the two of them left the set.
On their way to the villa, Sofia suggested, "Actually, I've been wondering if you would consider renting an apartment somewhere nearby. So, whenever the crew is late for filming, you don't have to come back home late at night." After pondering for a moment, Daryl answered, "Let's talk about it some other time. As of the moment, I don't think I need it."
The main reason she didn't want to get an apartment was because she was afraid that Zack might get angry if he found out. If she was being honest, it was a huge favor that he even married her. To him, she was probably just Benjamin's mother and nothing else. If she didn't go home at night because of shooting, how would she be able to fulfill her agreement with him?
Knowing that rich people, especially the Ji family, were difficult to talk to, Sofia decided to stop persuading her. With that thought in mind, she asked tentatively, "Have you suffered any grievances after you married him?" "No. None that I can think of, at least." Daryl shook her head.
Although Zack appeared to be apathetic and inhuman, she knew in her heart that he treated her well. "That's good to hear."
In reality, Sofia was just worried that Daryl would get hurt again.
After all, the last time she married into the Lu family, she almost became a complete mess. Upon arrival at the villa, Sofia bade her farewell. "Although the swelling on your face isn't serious, remember not to sleep on that side of your face tonight." "Okay."
Daryl nodded with a smile.
As soon as Sofia departed, Daryl went back home. "Mommy!"
After Daryl stepped into the living room, Benjamin also returned in less than a minute.
"Bennie!"
Daryl led the little boy to sit on the sofa. Although the two of them just met earlier at noon, it didn't diminish the joy they felt upon seeing each other.
"Mommy, does your face still hurt?"
Benjamin asked as soon as he saw the bruise on her face.
"Mommy's fine now. It doesn't hurt anymore."
With a loving touch, Daryl placed a hand on his little face. "Thank you for avenging me, Bennie."
"You're welcome!" Benjamin patted his chest proudly. "It's my sworn duty to protect you!"
"You're such a good boy."
Daryl felt a warm sensation in her heart. She held him in his arms and kissed his forehead.
'Sir. The servant greeted someone standing at the door. Daryl and Benjamin turned their heads and found that it was Zack.
Zack was carrying Benjamin's schoolbag. The moment he set foot in the room, he frowned. "Benjamin, do you not want your schoolbag anymore? You left so fast that you forgot about it." "Daddy, I still want it!"
The little boy rushed to his side and took the schoolbag from his hand. A few moments ago, he was just in a hurry to see his mother, so he forgot to bring his schoolbag with him. "Now, go upstairs and do your homework,"
Zack ordered.
"Yes, Daddy!"
In reality, Benjamin still wanted to play with his mother for a while, and normally he would act too defiant to do his homework. But today, his daddy didn't teach him a lesson. The least he could do was be obedient. Carrying his schoolbag, Benjamin went upstairs to his room to finish his homework.
At this point, only Daryl and Zack were left in the living room.
After removing his suit jacket and changing his shoes, he entered the living room. As soon as he made his way to the sofa, Daryl stood in attention.
Narrowing his eyes as he stared at her, Zack thought, 'Is she afraid of me or something?'
"I..."
His gaze was so intimidating that Daryl struggled to suppress how nervous she was. She lowered her head to avoid looking into his eyes, and whispered, 'Til go and make you a cup of tea." After that, she retreated to the kitchen.
Watching her flee from him, Zack grunted with dissatisfaction. Just now, she was smiling so brightly in front of Benjamin, but the moment she saw him, she was like a mouse seeing a cat. "Sir, Lyman wishes to speak to you,"
Dillon announced.
"Lyman?" Zack snorted. "I'm not in the mood to talk to him right now."
"Understood, sir."
Upon hearing that, Dillon realized that it would be a bad idea to offend Daryl in the future.
Both Zack and Benjamin cared for her so much. The father acted arrogant but actually treated her well, while the son was cool behind her back and obedient in front of her.
In the kitchen, Daryl was pouring a cup of green tea and brought it to Zack.
Zack was reading the financial news. Daryl slowly approached him, carrying the teacup in her hand. When she was just about to reach him, she slipped and lost her balance. "Ah!"
Daryl screamed in shock. She closed her eyes, fearing that she was about to fall to the floor.
The next second, Zack, who was still pretending to be watching the news, quickly stood up and caught her with one hand, and managed to block the hot tea from scalding her.
Fortunately, Daryl didn't feel the harsh fall that she had imagined. Instead, she felt a broad and cold embrace. When she opened her eyes, she saw that Zack managed to catch her in time. Daryl was caught in a daze while she was in his arms, staring at him in silence for a while. Unexpectedly, Zack caught her instead of avoiding her. "Ah, sir, your hand!"
As soon as Dillon came back after ending the call, he saw that hot liquid was pouring onto Zack's arm.
When Daryl finally got ahold of herself, she quickly got up from his arms, and said anxiously, "Zack, your hand is scalded!"
In reality, Zack thought that it felt good to have her in his arms. The moment she left his embrace, he felt like something was missing.
But seeing how concerned she was about him, he felt ecstatic.
"Hang on. I'll go find you some ointment." At the moment, Daryl felt both guilty and anxious.
After that, she searched for the first-aid kid they had at home.
Truth be told, Zack didn't really care about the scald on his arm. He just sat back on the sofa and asked Dillon, "What did Lyman tell you?"
