Miss, My Father loves you -
Chapter 48 Give Him A Chance
After leaving the hospital, Lyman drove all the way to Ji Group.
The Ji Group's building was the tallest in the prime location of D City.
This building was the place everyone admired the most. "Mr. Huangfu."
After receiving Lyman's phone call, Dillon went downstairs to pick him up.
"So, how's your boss doing?"
Lyman casually asked as they were walking inside.
"He is currently busy with his work," Dillon replied. "I'm sure you know that if someone disturbs him while he's working, his mood will turn foul." Frowning,
Lyman complained, "What a workaholic! All he does is work in the company all day long. He doesn't even know Bennie running away from school." "What did you say?"
Upon hearing this, Dillon was mortified. "Bennie has run away?"
"Hey, don't get so worked up yet. Let me finish," Lyman said while waving his hand. "I was talking about what happened yesterday." At this point, Dillon felt even more puzzled.
With one hand in his pocket, Lyman swaggered into the president's elevator, which was exclusive to Zack.
"What happened yesterday? Sir, can you please clarify what you mean?"
Dillon asked while following him.
"Yesterday, he sneaked into the film and television base,
Lyman answered after pressing one of the buttons in the elevator. "Perhaps Zack isn't even aware that Bennie skipped classes."
Dillon was rendered speechless.
He had a bad feeling about this.
Sure enough, Lyman continued, "I'm not sure what the little one did in the set, but Zack suddenly withdrew his investment from my company yesterday. I must ask him to clarify this matter!" Lyman wasn't aware of the whole story, so he wanted to hear it from Zack himself. Dillon was wondering if he should tell him the truth.
Soon, the elevator arrived at the top floor where the CEO's office was located.
Before he could take another step, Dillon halted him, and kindly reminded, "Sir, I implore you to let me speak to Mr. Ji first.
If Mr. Ji is in a bad mood, I'm afraid you will get hurt further."
Perhaps you're right. Nodding in agreement, Lyman patted Dillon's shoulder. "Bro, my life is in your hands. Remember to tell Zack that I'm just here to visit him. I'm not looking to get even with him." "Understood, sir."
Afterwards, Dillon knocked on the door and went in. Inside the spacious office, Zack was sitting at his desk. "Sir, Lyman is here to see you,"
Dillon said respectfully. "He wants to know why you withdrew your investment, and he knows that Bennie went to the film and television base yesterday.
I'm not sure if he knows about Mrs. Ji though."
Without raising his head, Zack ordered, "Tell him to come in."
"As you wish sir."
Dillon stepped out of the office once more.
"Sir, Mr. Ji has told me that you can come in."
Before he came in, Lyman vigilantly asked, "How is his mood?"
"Well..." After pondering for a moment, Dillon answered, "He's relatively calm, I suppose."
"Fair enough."
Without hesitation, Lyman nodded and knocked on the door.
He didn't open the door until Zack gave him permission.
'Zack,1 Lyman greeted Zack politely as soon as he entered the room.
"Hmm,"
Zack replied, still refusing to raise his head. "What's up?"
"Are you busy right now?" Lyman asked with a flattering smile. "If you're too busy with your work, I can wait until you're done."
Upon hearing this, Zack closed the file in his hand. He looked at him with a piercing gaze and said, "No, I'm not that busy. Go ahead."
Lyman sat across him. "Well, all I want to know is why you withdrew your investment from my company."
He stared at Zack's indifferent expression. He paused briefly and continued, "Honestly, it's not about the money. I just want to know what made us so estranged from each other!" "Is that so?"
Zack crossed his legs. He placed one hand on the desk before him and tapped his fingers on it.
After a moment of contemplation, he said, "Nothing. I just read about the rumors that you're involved in, and I realized that I didn't want to see your face in my meeting room anymore." For a brief moment, Lyman clammed up.
"Zack, we practically grew up together.
Don't you think it's too late for you to tell me that you don't want to see my face anymore?"
Zack glared at him and asked, "Do you have a problem with that?'
"No."
The bravado that Lyman held a moment ago dissipated. "Zack, I apologize. What did I do wrong? You have to tell me! Otherwise, how can I rectify my mistakes?"
"Why don't you figure it out yourself?"
Lowering his head once more, Zack picked up another document. "Don't disturb me again."
After he said that, he called Dillon in.
Dillon promptly entered the room and said to Lyman, "Sir, please follow me out."
Without gaining anything, Lyman stepped out of the office.
As he was walking outside, he brooded over what Zack mentioned. He couldn't seem to remember any gossip about him recently.
Then, Lyman decided to check the news in his mobile phone. He found that the media had published some news about him and Lucy. But wasn't it normal for him to be in a relationship with Lucy?
Lyman felt confused. In the end, he decided that it was best to ask Benjamin for an answer.
After Lyman left them, Dillon entered Zack's office again.
"Sir, I think Lyman was sincere and really confused."
"I see,"
Zack replied calmly. "Just leave him alone for now. I don't want to deal with him for the time being." "As you wish, sir."
Dillon nodded. "But what are you going to do with Karter? It appears that he met Leon in private again."
Zack was amused when he heard this. His eyes held a sense of derisiveness to them. "Is Leon still unwilling to give up?"
"That seems to be the case, sir,"
Dillon responded. "The Lu family is a new rich family in D City. They haven't set a solid foundation in the city, and what Bennie did was a huge blow to them. It appears that they're eager to seek for your help." Upon hearing this, Zack laughed.
"Since Leon wants to see me that much, why don't we give him a chance?"
"Sir, what do you mean?"
asked Dillon.
"Ask him to bring Candida with him,"
Zack said as he lowered his gaze. "Arrange a dinner for us. I'd love to see what trick he is going to play."
