Chapter 42

It was weekend and Debby was preparing to head over to the restaurant, when she got a call from an unknown contact, informing her about Nicholas involving in an accident. She was texted the address of the hospital and she postponed her plans of going to the restaurant to check up on Nicholas. When she arrived at the hospital, Debby was directed to the ward, where Nicholas had been kept.

She was informed by the doctor that Nicholas suffered heavy concussion during the accident but that he would be fine. Debby stared at his unconscious body and prayed silently within her heart that he would really be fine as the doctor had suggested. Still in the ward, Debby noticed a phone ringing and checked to see that it was Nicholas's phone. She picked the call in an attempt to inform the caller of Nicholas's situation.

"Nicholas! You must really think I am a fool, huh? I have waited for days and you haven't showed up with my money? Do you want me to expose the DNA test results? I must assume Debby would be really sad that the one person she called a friend did this act to her. I am giving you twenty four hours to transfer my money to me or the test results would be released to the Alessandros" Debby was totally speechless. The voice from the other end was familiar. She realized it was the doctor that conducted the DNA test for herself and Broderick Alessandro at North Hill.

"Your claim about not having the ability to make a transfer shouldn't stop you from sending my money, dear brother! This isn't the first time you have sent someone to make transactions to me. I want my money delivered in North Hill in twenty four hours else you face the consequence." She listened attentively and realized that the doctor was a brother to Nicholas.

Debby was sad, she felt very guilty at the thought of the fact that that Broderick was her father afterall but she was the reason why he is locked up like an animal in the dungeon. Hours later, Nicholas opened his eyes and the rays of the light almost blinded him. He groaned in pain and when Debby looked towards his direction, she realized he was awake.

When Nicholas was certain his eyes was accustomed to the light, he looked around to realize he was in the hospital. Suddenly, a figure came standing right before him. He was surprised to see Debby.

"You came!" He said with a smile on his face. "I can am so happy to see you Debby."

"How about you start explaining to me, why you had to forge a DNA test result, just to disprove the claim that I am the daughter of Broderick Alessandro?" Nicholas stared at her in disbelief. How did she know? He wondered.

"I don't know what you are talking about." Nicholas said, with a laugh of anxiety preceding his statement. He watched as Debby fumbled with something in her purse.

"This is your phone. You had a call few hours ago from your brother who was complaining over the fact that he hadn't been paid by you. I got to know that you pleaded that he forged a DNA test result claiming I am not the daughter of Broderick Alessandro." At this revelation, Nicholas knew there was no lie he could come up with. Debby had all the evidence needed to hold against him. He was totally clueless as to what to say.

"What have I ever done to you, Nicholas? I always thought you are one of the good persons out there.

Turns out that every devil are usually once an angel." Debby stared one last time at Nicholas with disgust and turned around to leave, despite the plea from him.

When Debby arrived at Harry's mansion, she rushed over to the dungeon to check on Broderick, who had refused to eat for the past two days. Her heart shattered, seeing that her father was laying in the dungeon sick. When she asked the doctor to check on him, she realized that his ailment had become worse.

Debby knew that she needed to do something really fast as she would be forever guilty, if anything ever happened to her father. Although it was a gamble, Debby knew exactly the person who had answers to all the problem.

Harry was in his study room, reviewing some of his documents from work, when he felt a presence. He turned around to see Debby standing before him, with a look of worry on her face. She was toying with her fingers; a clear indication she had something on her mind.

"I need to tell you something." Harry closed his document and nodded, giving her his full attention.

I got to confirm today that Broderick Alessandro is my father." Harry stared at her in confusion as she moved towards him, with tears already forming in her eyes. "Please you have to let the man go. He had suffered enough and is sick. He could die if he doesn't receive any treatment." Debby proceeded to kneel down before Harry. "I want to be the atonement for his sin. Make me suffer and let him leave. You can even keep me in the dungeon, but please just let him go." She begged desperately.

In his entire years, Harry had never seen someone wiling to sacrifice so much for another, like Debby was willing to do for her father. "I will have you know that Broderick Alessandro, your father is the one who killed my parents and siblings and not you. I have no reason to punish you.
