My Arrogant Mate
Chapter 48

I looked up at him pleadingly and only hoped that we could settle everything in peace, but his eyes were so full of hatred that this hope was immediately destroyed.

"Now you want to talk?!" he practically yelled at me and stood in front of me, which definitely made my heart beat faster than ever. "Otherwise you'd rather talk to everyone else, except me!"

"That's not true at all!", I tried to defend myself and took a step towards him, but he immediately backed away angrily and wouldn't allow me to be near at all. "I'm sorry! I... there are just things I've experienced that I needed to figure out first!" "With Kaidan?!" he yelled at me again, shaking with rage.

"No! I only spoke to him about my gift. At least he listened to me!"

I choked back my tears and avoided his stern gaze.

"Are you shit serious?!", he then asked menacingly and took my chin in his hand to give me a stunned look. "You seriously want to blame me for not listening to you last night?!"

"You didn't even want to listen to me! S*x was all you had on your mind!"

His almost black irises flitted across my face as I stared at him as stubbornly as he looked at me, but I upped the ante.

"Who knows what you did with Melania..." I whispered and as soon as I said it, he pressed my shoulders so hard against the wall behind me that I caught my breath and my eyes widened in shock.

"What are you implying!!?" he growled, looking at me so intently it was absolutely frightening to me.

It was only seconds, but it felt like an eternity as we stood in front of each other and the silence around us only made everything more uncomfortable.

Blame and false pride was all that was between us at that moment and he was the one who broke the silence first as he took his hands off my shoulders.

"For thinking that of me, Jade," he breathed, looking so desperate that I wished he would yell at me again.

That was easier to bear.

"I was in the bistro to talk to Kaidan, because I won't hear anything from you anymore! When he had told me everything about your gift, I sat there for a while and drank. Melania suddenly came with a friend and she They both told me their plans for Winterfest. That was all. Do you honestly think I'd even think for a second about other women..."

After he told me all this in a sad voice, I felt even more shitty than before and I knew it was my turn to explain everything to him.

He walked to the window next to the kitchen and looked out into the darkness while I was still leaning against the wall trying to put the words together.

"My father told me that your mother was his mate too," I began calmly, then watched as he turned to look at me with irritation and curiosity at the same time. "He also told me...-"

I stopped myself and felt the first warm tears running down my cheeks. This feeling of destroying his heart like him made me ache in every fiber of my being and made it impossible for me to pull myself together.

"What?" I heard Silvan's calm voice, who came towards me at the same time and then put his hands on my cheeks to wipe away my tears with his thumb, but they kept running.

"Lisanna was the daughter of your mother and my father, who was probably never really my father," I explained to him, crying, looking deep into his sad eyes.

I recognized even through my tears how confused and desperate he looked and wished I hadn't had to say the following words.

It would finish him off...

"He also told me that... that..."

Gasping for air, I removed his hands from my face and took a few steps past him, feeling like I was choking on my own words. My throat burned, my tongue seemed numb and I closed my eyes briefly to collect myself, but it seemed impossible.

When I turned back to him, clutching his chest, he stood there like a broken man. He knew it was the truth, that his sister was only his half-sister, because he knew I would never lie to him about something like that. I could practically watch as he was lost in thought, trying to figure it all out.

So I wiped my tears away with shaking hands and then finally pulled myself together for him...

I was now the one who had to be strong enough to catch him because he was about to lose all his strength in one fell swoop.

"He also told me that your father killed Lisana..."

Although I heard the words leaving my mouth loud and clear, everything around me just seemed unreal. As if we were surrounded by a veil and only when I felt Silvan's hand on mine, noticed his breath on my face and then looked up into his eyes, did this unreality dissolve and I slammed back into the bitter reality with full force.

"Please tell me that's not true!"

He yelled, but his anger wasn't aimed at me and when I heard the pure desperation in his dark voice, my heart broke into a thousand pieces.

"Silvan," I whispered in a tearful voice and put my hand on his cheek. "I don't know the whole truth. I'm so sorry. I can only say what other people have told me."

His stunned expression seemed frozen and one would have thought that all life had left his body. He didn't move anymore, only the tears that formed in his eyes gave an indication of life in him.

But what kind of life was that?

"Your gift," he breathed suddenly and looked at me intently. "How do you see my father, Jade."

I didn't know what to say for a moment until he jerked my arm to get me to talk.

"Don't do this, please," I begged, but he just shook his head. He made me responsible now. No matter what I would say now, the reaction that would arise would be entirely my fault and he really wanted to put that burden on me.

"He can also be a bad person without killing anyone!" I tried to explain, but he shook his head again.

"How... do you... see... him...!", he hissed so slowly and clearly that I didn't have a chance to avoid him.

"I have a very bad feeling around him," I whispered, hoping not to hear me, but when he growled and stormed out of the house, I knew he heard me perfectly..

****

"Silvan!"

He walked quickly ahead of me through the snow to his car, not responding to my calls at all.

"Please!" I screamed desperately, but he didn't even look up as he pulled out the car key from his black jeans and opened the car.

The adrenaline was rushing through my body and I just wanted with all my might to prevent him from having to live with the fact that he had killed his father. Desperation screamed inside me and I defiantly stood right in front of the car while he revved the engine. He was sitting in there, right in front of me, looking me straight in the eye, but his gaze seemed to go through me like he wasn't really there anymore.

"Please don't do that!" I begged and started to cry bitterly, but my voice couldn't stand the loud noise of the engine.

It was hopeless...

He avoided my gaze, looked over his shoulder, and then backed up a few feet. I immediately ran after him and would have liked to jump onto the hood, but I suddenly lost all my strength.

Dissolved and completely overwhelmed, I stood motionless in the snow and could only watch as he turned the car and drove away at high speed. The lights of his car dimmed, the sound of the engine faded away, and he left me with nothing but the cruelest silence I've ever known as the darkness around me took over me completely.

I had really never felt so helpless as in this moment, even though I was kidnapped and almost killed by a hunter, but this was something completely different.

It was about him... About his life and what would become of it.

"Shit," I murmured, crying, wiping away my tears before realizing I had to go after him anyway.

What was I thinking, wasting so much time?!

I ran madly down the white road and although I was sure I wouldn't be there in time, I had no intention of stopping again. I had to at least try to avoid this drama and my feet carried me through the night faster than ever. Of course I could have transformed myself, but I was so confused that in my wolf form I certainly would not have had any control over myself at all.

When, after what seemed like endless minutes, I finally saw the villa to my left, I ran up the driveway out of breath. I recognized Silvan's car and immediately my heart sped up in a frightening way. I'm sure I'd drop dead of heart trouble.

Without wasting any more time worrying about myself, I looked at the open front door and tried to sneak into the house without making a sound.

It was pitch dark in here, no lights were on, and my rapid breathing and the soft cracking of the laminate beneath my feet were all I heard.

"Hello?" I whispered uncertainly and at the same time shook my head at my incredible stupidity.

Then, all of a sudden and without warning, I heard a banging from above and I was scared to death. I immediately scanned my surroundings and as I felt my way along the wall, after a few moments during which I died a thousand times inside, I finally found the light switch.

A bright light blinded me, but I got used to it quite quickly and then saw a staircase at the back of the large, wide hallway leading upstairs.

The sounds of a fight almost drove me insane and I dashed up the stairs at breakneck speed, only to enter the room where Silvan and his father were fighting.

Nathan was lying on the ground while Silvan was bending over him and hitting him over and over again, causing blood to trickle down his father's body.

It was an incredibly gruesome picture, because right behind them, on the white wall, hung a picture of the two of them that looked so familiar and happy that it gave me goosebumps.

"Silvan," I then called out and ran towards him to grab his arm, but he quickly shook my hand off again, which made me gasp desperately for air.

His white pullover was already soaked in blood and I knew if I didn't do anything now, his father wouldn't survive a minute of these beatings. But not only that, Silvan's mother would also be doomed by the marking, which made the whole thing much worse. "Stop it!" I yelled again, yanking at his sweater as my tears began to flow again, but he wouldn't be calmed down at all.

"Pleaseeee," I begged and finally he seemed to let go of him. He looked at me in pain, stood up and his eyes seemed to me like his wolf had complete control over him because they were completely black, which took my breath away.

"He deserves to die!" he yelled at me and was about to hit me again when I quickly intervened and took his face in my trembling hands. He looked at me with a hateful look, but I wasn't intimidated. He needed me now, needed someone who would take control even if he didn't want to.

"I see you," I whispered desperately, stroking his cheeks while his whole body trembled. "I see you more clearly than ever..." I continued softly, watching as his eyes gradually returned to the beautiful brown I had fallen in love with.

"Jade," he breathed wearily, resting his head on my shoulder while wrapping his arms tightly around my body. "I've got to get out of here."

He broke away from me and I carefully took his hand to walk to the door together with him.

"Call Igor or Bene. I'll be there right away."

He nodded and I was just glad that he gave me control, but when he then disappeared from the room and thus also from my field of vision, the chaos started to rage in me again.

I quickly ran back to Nathan, who was panting on the floor, and knelt down to look at his injuries, which all the blood made impossible. I'm in dire need of towels or something to prevent the worst.

I got up hastily and turned around, my heart racing, but I stopped immediately and my eyes widened.

"You destroyed my life..."

Viola was standing right in front of me, but that wasn't what made my whole body tremble, but the pain that slowly but surely spread through my whole body.

She looked me in the eyes emotionlessly, taking a step back while I looked down at myself in complete panic.

"It's all your fault!" she screamed, but I heard her voice muffled. My full attention was on the knife that was stuck deep in my stomach and somehow I didn't really understand what was happening to me. It seemed like a nightmare, but I just didn't wake up. Viola disappeared as silently as she had come. I lost track of where to as I fell to my knees, feeling mortal in terror as I placed my trembling hands on the knife handle and my vision blurred. "Silvan," I tried to scream, but the blood in my mouth only allowed me to fall over to the side, rattling..
