My Jealous Alpha Stepbrother -
Chapter 168
Kit
“OH MY GOD, WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HERE?!”
I wake up to the sound of my mate screaming and I bolt up from bed, ready to protect her. My eyes scan the room for whatever intruder she has spotted. My pulse is ticking against my neck. My anger is rising, but then my rage turns to irritation when I find my dad casually sitting on a chair in Michelle’s room.
With a coffee cup brought to his lips, he manages to look perfectly calm despite the fact that my mate is hiding behind me and clutching the bedsheets to her naked body. She isn’t a fan of my dad intruding on us, and I’m not either.
I unfold my wings and make a little roof for Michelle. She seems grateful and I relax before narrowing my eyes at my dad. He has the audacity to raise his dark eyebrows questioningly at me, as if I’m the one with explaining to do.
“Well? Did you finish the mating ritual yet?” My dad asks, and hides a smirk behind his coffee cup because we both know the answer to his question—he should be able to feel the bond between us.
“We did,” my voice comes out as a growl. “Now, could you please leave us alone? I love you dad, but this is f*****g weird. You can’t just pop-up in Michelle’s room!”
“Why not? I needed to come here anyway.”
“For what?”
“Golfing with Misha?” My dad stands up from the chair, and places down the coffee cup on the table beside it. He then stretches. “I’m going to beat his a*s at the golfing course and laugh when I win.”
I squint my eyes. “Since when do you play golf with Michelle’s dad?”
Before I can answer the question, there is a loud knock on Michelle’s door, but the person doesn’t even wait for an answer—the door is thrown open in an instant.
“There you are! My rival!” Misha exclaims and points at my dad. He is wearing a baseball hat back and forth over his white hair. I think he looks cool with his hipster clothing, but Michelle hides her face behind my back. She seems embarrassed.
A purring immediately starts in my chest at her proximity, but my happiness is short-lived because now my dad and Michelle’s dad are both being weird.
“I won’t lose to you,” my dad says and grits his teeth. His demon tail has created a hole in his black chinos and is lashing back and forth. “I’ve had practice, and I will show you how much I’ve grown on the golf course!”
Michelle g****s. “Okay, okay! I get it! You two dinosaurs have found a hobby, which is good since you’re both basically immortal, but please! Can’t you see how inappropriate this is? YOU’RE IN MY ROOM!”
Misha grimaces. “I’m sorry, honey. Were you guys having s*x?”
“GET OUT!”
“But—”
Michelle summons a strong, chilly wind of hail that sends both our parents out through her door before she growls. “I can’t believe those two!”
I chuckle and turn around, eyeing her red face. “Is someone embarrassed?”
Michelle opens her mouth, but closes it when we hear our parent’s conversation outside the door.
“The prize for the golfing contest will be Elijah.” Misha announces.
“What?!” Elijah exclaims. “But I’m a person!”
My dad hums to himself. “No, Elijah can’t be the prize.”
“Thank you!” Elijah exclaims. “I knew that you still cared—”
“I want something more valuable if I win,” my dad interrupts in a dead-serious tone. “How about we play about these marbles that I found in Kinsley’s room?”
“Oh, marbles!” Misha sounds excited.
“What?!” Elijah is officially offended. “You think those marbles are worth more than me?!”
“These marbles didn’t abandon the family just because their mate happened to live with another pack.”
Elijah whines in response to my dad’s statement, but the voices are slowly fading away as the trio walks down the stairs. Soon I’m left all alone with Michelle, and my heart swells when I find her playing with my tail.
“You really like my tail.”
She blushes and gives me a smile. “Well… the hairs at the tip are very soft… when you keep it looking like this. You change the shape of it a lot.”
“I do,” I eye her pretty face, feeling lucky because this gorgeous woman is mine. “What do you want to do today?”
“Train even more so I’m ready for the next demon attack.”
I chuckle. “Is that all you ever do? Train?”
Michelle’s face contorts into a serious expression. “It was my duty to protect my pack. I failed.”
“No, you didn’t. You didn’t know the demons would attack and you saved the ones you could.”
She looks at me, but I can’t read her. She seems conflicted to me, but I can’t tell her to stop training. I want her to be safe, so I will respect her needs.
“Kit?”
“Mhm?”
“Am I a bad Alpha if we go swimming today? Like a date. There has been a lot of dark stuff happening, but I don’t have a lead on the demons and I just… need to clear my mind.”
“I don’t think you’re a bad Alpha. I think you’re a perfect Alpha. You’re beautiful, smart and strong. You also have a big heart and care a lot about your pack.”
Michelle blushes and I offer her a goofy grin.
Blushing in an even deeper shade of red, She brushes a strand of white hair behind her ear. “I will take that as a yes: we can safely head to the beach.”
“I think it would be good for you,” I say, and easily hoist her up on my chest. She doesn’t fight me and rests her cheek on my chest, and I stroke her back. Her feet don’t even quite reach my knees, and I sigh in contentment. “You’re so cute, you know that right?”
“I’m a fierce Alpha,” she growls. “I’m not cute—calling me cute is actually an insult.”
I snort and pull her even higher up so I can dig my nose into her soft, vanilla-smelling hair. “I should be allowed to call you cute. I’m your mate, remember? And I LOVE you a lot.”
Michelle freezes at the L-word, and I have to try hard not to swear—it just slipped out! I know it might be too soon to say it, but does it matter? We are bound forever!
Despite that, my anxiety grows for each second that is spent in uncomfortable silence. Michelle isn’t talking, but then she lifts up her face and smiles at me with her odd-colored eyes filled with affection.
“I love you too,” she cups my cheek. “You’re my big and strong demon mate, but while you look fierce, we both know that you’re as gentle as a kitten.”
I snort and bury myself in her hair again. “And you are as cute as a kitten too.”
“Arrgh! Stop calling me cute!”
I chuckle and stroke my hand down her back until she is a shivering mess on top of me, and I think about how I’m the luckiest demon ever to find her.
I’m happy.
“Michelle?”
She looks up at me again. “Yes?”
I press my lips against hers, and the k**s turns into something incredibly passion-filled in an instant. Michelle has a vanilla scent to her, and tastes like heaven and something so mine that I could eat her up.
Gah, is it too early for round two?
I k**s her deeper, but Michelle breaks from our k**s and laughs at me. There are dimples around her lips, and lines around her eyes as she looks at me.
“Weren’t we heading to the beach?”
“Oh right…”
I lift Michelle up with my hands under her a*s and she wraps her legs around my waist.
“Shouldn’t we put clothes on?” She asks.
“Sure,” I click with my finger and a swimsuit appears on her body in an instant. I’m wearing one too and I grin when she gapes at me in surprise. “Impressed?”
“A little, yes.”
I like that she is impressed, and grins even wider. “Just wait until you’ve seen all of my magic. You’re going to be looking at me in a brand new light.”
“Oh, am I?” Michelle challenges.
“I hope… anyway, let’s speed things up a little, shall we? I want to go swimming in the magical realm right now!”
I grip her tighter and press her to my chest. My large bat-like wings sprout out from my back and Michelle shrieks when I fly down the stairs instead of running.
I laugh at her. “You will get used to flying.”
Her eyes are closed and she is pressing herself to me. “I doubt I will get used to it…”
My heart swells at the sight of Michelle holding on to me as if I’m her lifeline. I haven’t seen anything cuter.
