Chapter 1825 She Was What I Couldn't Attain

Although Elijah's efforts didn't ultimately spare Brett from punishment, the church didn't prohibit him from cooking for the junior monks anymore.

Brett had heard that at that time, Adonis' mentor called the head chef of the dining hall for a serious discussion and asked him to improve the taste. However, in retrospect, that head chef was quite stubborn.

The food in the dining hall remained consistently unappetizing.

"After so many years, you junior monks have either left the monastery or gone to other monasteries. And only I remain by Father's side," Brett sighed softly. Sally had a strong sense of empathy and said, "Adonis and you must miss everyone a lot."

Brett took a bite of food and said, "It's all karma. There's nothing much to miss."

Sally blinked her eyes.

She enjoyed the meal very much.

The table of dishes was nearly emptied.

In the end, Elijah supported Sally as they walked out of Brett's yard.

Brett didn't show as much aversion to Sally now. His expression was more helpless. "Elijah, at least teach her about eating in moderation."

"Brett, the main responsibility lies with you. The dishes you cooked were so delicious that I lost track of my limits," Sally complained.

Brett was speechless.

"No worries. I'll take her for a walk," Elijah said with a gentle smile.

Sally waved her hand. "No need, I'll take a stroll on my own. You go check on Adonis."

"No..."

Before Elijah finished his objection, Sally gestured to stop him, "What's wrong? Are you afraid I'll get lost on my own turf? Be good. I'll wander around and then head back for a nap!" With that, Sally pushed away Elijah's supporting hand and walked away.

Elijah felt amused and a bit helpless.

Brett paused for a moment. "Wait a minute. When did the church become her turf?"

Elijah chuckled and pulled Brett along toward Adonis' yard. "She was just kidding. Don't take it to heart."

"Are you indulging her like this?"

Brett was someone who upheld tradition and discipline.

He always felt that Sally was a bit too unconventional.

"What else can I do?" Elijah glanced at Brett. "She was what I couldn't attain."

Brett's ears turned red.

"I don't understand the thoughts of you worldly people! Anyway, don't talk nonsense in front of Adonis!" Brett said, quickening his pace and striding ahead. Elijah's eyes were full of smiles.

After overeating, Sally wasn't sleepy and wanted to find Micah to play.

When she found Micah, she accidentally witnessed a woman suddenly pushing Micah as if she had gone mad.

Micah fell to the ground and landed on his rear.

"What are you doing?"

Sally immediately rushed over, picked up Micah, and then glared fiercely at the woman.

"Don't!"

Micah clutched Sally's arm and pulled her away from the woman.

"I'm... I'm sorry!"

The woman's expression suddenly changed, and she held her head, looking terrified. "I didn't mean to. I..."

"Loser!" The woman's expression changed again in the next moment, becoming extremely sinister. "All you know is to apologize. You've been apologizing your whole life. Who are you apologizing to?" Sally stood in shock in her place.

She watched as the church monks and the woman's family members restrained her.

Then, Sally saw the woman's family take out ropes and tie the woman securely.
