I got into the passenger seat of the car. I looked over at Evan and said, "Morning, Evan, have you had your breakfast?"

Confused, he was slow to react. After a pause, he said, "Good morning, Madam!"

I smiled. Hendrix must still be in the house as I did not see him in the car. I handed him the breakfast that I'd packed. "You must have not eaten your breakfast yet, eat this while it's still warm."

He blinked in astonishment. Before he could formulate a response, Hendrix got into the back seat of the car and said "Let's go to the Golden Scale Villa!"

"Okay!" Evan said and handed the breakfast in his hand to him. "Mr. Roberts, you have not had your breakfast yet, right? Madam made breakfast, it's still warm, do you want to have a bite?"

I was dumbfounded at Evan. He...

Hendrix finally realized that I was there. He was silent for a while, then answered with a grunt and took it.

I actually wanted to ask for a ride to Lancille Village from him, but after what Hendrix said it occurred to me that they wouldn't be heading there, so I said, "Since you guys won't be heading to Lancille Village, I'll leave first and take a cab. See you guys!"

As I got out of the car, Hendrix cleared his throat rather loudly.

Evan hurriedly said, "Madam, we will be going to Lancille Village right after we go to Golden Scale Villa. Come with us. There aren't many cabs around here, and with such a long car ride the cab may be reluctant to give you a ride anyway."

Uncertain, I said, "Really?"

He nodded, "It's true. There's no need to lie to you. The project at Lancille Village just started, so of course, we will be heading over. Won't we, Mr. Roberts?" Hendrix hummed in agreement. I couldn't help but turn back to look at him. He was focused on eating his breakfast as if he hadn't been listening to us at all. Practicality won so I decided to be thick-skinned. I sat back in the seat and said with a smile, "I'll have to trouble you then."

Evan smiled and we were off.

Golden Scale Villa wasn't very far away. We arrived within 10 minutes. Wearing a white dress, with her long wavy hair, and a new seasonal designer handbag, Rowane looked like a star.

The car rolled to a stop in front of her. She reached for the back seat door, but couldn't seem to open it. Disgruntled, she looked over at Evan, and reminded him politely, "Evan, I think you didn't open the door."

He flashed a grin and said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I momentarily forgot about it." He pressed a button, releasing the locks. Once the locks were disengaged, Evan and Hendrix got down from the car.

It was when I saw Evan moving to the back seat and Hendrix to the driver's seat that I got suspicious.

Rowane's smile withered away. She said harshly, "Miss Reid! I didn't see you there. Didn't Mr. Milton arrange a car for you to drive?"

"It rained heavily last night, and I doubt my driving skills. The road in Lancille Village is not as smooth as well, so I didn't want to drive!" I explained and glanced at Hendrix who sat next to me.

I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for Evan, stuck in the back seat. It must be nerve-wracking for the boss to be driving him.

Rowane spoke again, "Mr. Roberts, have you had breakfast? I made steamed dumplings this morning. Why don't you let Evan drive the car and maybe have a bite?" "I have already eaten!" Hendrix cooly rejected.

Evan threw me under the bus, "Miss Reid also made breakfast this morning. Mr. Roberts just ate it!"
