Naomi knocked on the door earlier than usual. When I opened the door, I saw that she was in a daze. I couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong? Why did you come so early?" She leaned on me and said, "Sebastian went to the base. I can't sleep alone, so I need your company."

I touched my forehead and said helplessly, "I'm about to go out. If you're sleepy, you can rest in the hotel. Don't go anywhere."

After I helped her lie down on the bed, I took my bag and went out.

At the base, the police had been working very hard for days, but to no avail. They failed to find anything useful in the end. Disappointed in them, Sebastian sent them away.

Since Hendrix had continued with the Lancille Village project, he had made plans for the next steps to take as well. There was backup Al equipment at Jarold City, so he arranged for them to be sent over.

Rowane was at the base, making arrangements and giving orders while the staff set the equipment up. She saw me and sneered, but said nothing else.

Sebastian and Rowane were taking care of their tasks while I watched the workers move pieces of equipment that I'd never seen before.

Two workers carried a machine in. It was not too big, but it looked like a sophisticated machine. After putting it down, they left.

"These things are used to assist our research," a voice came from behind. It was Evan.

Evan helped me up and observed me, asking, "Are you alright?"

I nodded my head and looked back at the machine on the ground. Part of the edges and corners of it were damaged.

"Arianna, it's your fault again. You're a jinx, aren't you? Things won't be peaceful wherever you are," Rowane walked over, motioning for the workers to set the machines back up.

She looked at me and said, "Do you know how valuable these things are? Don't you know that it's hard to repair them?"

Since it was a fact that I had been careless, I lowered my head and apologized, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do it. I will be responsible for the losses!"

"Humph! Isn't it nice that with a man to back you up, you can freely take responsibility for everything?" Since Rowane had always disliked me, she wouldn't naturally let go of such an opportunity to needle me.

Seeing that she was being unreasonable, Evan said, "Miss Zanes, the most important thing now is for you to think about how to fix the machine. I'll take care of the other things."
