My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1218
I nodded. Knowing that she was worried, I smiled. Then, she took the freshly steamed crabs into the living room.
Hendrix and Pedro busy were chatting in the living room.
Pedro was saying, "Gerald is almost ninety years old. He's already so old. I'm afraid this is going to be the last time that you'll see him."
Hendrix nodded slightly. "Life and death is a matter of fate. It can be said that Master Hayes has had a good life."
I sat down beside Hendrix, looked at Pedro and asked, "Dad, do you know Master Roberts's former comrade-in-arms too?"
He smiled lightly and replied, "Many years ago, these elderly people were heroes. Of course I know them."
I nodded.
Pedro looked at me then and paused for a moment before saying, "I heard from Mr. Roberts that you gave the sandalwood box your grandmother left you to that guy from the Milton family?"
I nodded and involuntarily looked toward Hendrix. Why would he tell Pedro about this?
Hendrix shrugged and said with a smile, "Don't think too much about it. The Milton family has been looking for this box for many years. If they find it, the people who should know will know more or less about it."
I couldn't help the surprise I felt. "Dad, is that box very important to the Milton family?"
He nodded, and said with a small sigh, "That box is not only important to the Milton Family, but also to everyone who knows about it. Your grandmother probably never thought that they would find that box one day when she gave it to you. Forget it. This is also fated."
Looking at how serious he was, I couldn't help but feel a little confused. I looked at Hendrix and saw that he didn't seem to have any intention of speaking. I wanted to continue to ask, but I was interrupted by Valerie's voice.
"Dinner is ready. Let's eat!"
In an instant, the strange conversation ended.
I had originally planned to stay over that night. But because Hendrix and I had to travel to Oakland the next day, I had to go back to the villa to pack my bags.
So we didn't stay with the Moore Family.
Pedro and Valerie walked us out to the car. Then, Pedro looked at Hendrix and said inexplicably, "Oakland is different from here. You guys must be careful. If necessary, contact me immediately!" Hendrix nodded and said, "I will keep Arianna safe."
Pedro nodded and didn't say anything else.
As we drove away, I couldn't help but look at Hendrix and ask, "Why do I feel that it's very dangerous for us to go to Oakland this time? What the hell is going on?"
As he drove, he spared me a glance before saying with a faint smile, "Didn't you say that Kaleb is in the country now? Don't you think that he is waiting for a good opportunity?"
I paused for a moment. After staying in Jarold City for some time, I had almost forgotten about the existence of this invisible bomb. I could not help saying, "He's not a radar. How would he know where we are?
He smiled but did not answer the question. Instead, he changed the subject. "Have you settled things with Sonia's family?"
As soon as he said that, I suddenly remembered the things I asked the maid to pack up for Rita. I had no choice but to call Valerie and asked her to get someone to send them to her tomorrow.
Hendrix sighed lightly, looked at me and said, "My wife is so kind. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing!"
I pursed my lips but didn't argue with him.
In Oakland.
After several hours of flying, Hendrix and I were extremely exhausted when we arrived at Oakland Airport.
The moment we entered our hotel room, I washed up and fell asleep on the large bed.
It was already night time when I woke and Hendrix was not by my side. I lay on my stomach and groped for my phone to give him a call. Once the call was connected, he just said, "Are you awake?"
