My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1275
She always smelled like lavender.
"I heard that Naomi went to Oakland. What is she up to?" Dahlia opened her mouth and asked about Naomi instead.
I replied, "I'm not sure about it!" Since she was unwilling to tell me her purpose, I decided to play the waiting game with her.
As expected, after a moment of casual conversation, she said, "I heard that Mr. Roberts is looking for a new business partner to collaborate on the Al project. I wonder whether he has found his business partner yet."
I frowned slightly and replied, "This is the company's affairs. I don't know much about it. What's more, he's ready to bid for it. It's a fair competition. The result hasn't come out yet. If you need help, I may not be able to help you."
She laughed and said, "I don't need your help. I'm looking for you just to introduce you to someone." Somehow, I felt a little sleepy all of a sudden.
My eyelids started to grow heavier. I pinched myself and sobered up a little. Then I looked at the glass of juice I had drunk just now and realized something was wrong. I looked at her and asked, "What did you do to my drink?"
She answered with a faint smile, "Nothing, it's just something to help you sleep well. It's no harm at all."
I wanted to get up and leave, but I did not have any strength at all. Before I could come back to my senses, I'd fallen asleep.
When I woke up again, I thought that I would find myself in an abandoned factory. However, surprisingly, I found myself in a room that was clearly lived in by someone.
I got up and got out of bed. I went to the living room but didn't see anyone. I heard the sound of Bible reading coming out from another room.
I walked over and saw that the other room was filled with the Holy Cross and Bible. Dahlia was praying in front of a statue of Jesus.
As I looked at her, I knew that it was impossible for me to leave at this moment, so I went to the living room and sat down. There were three rooms and one living room in her house. One for herself, one was a chapel and the other seemed to be used as a storage room.
There was nothing else in the living room except a coffee table, not even a sofa. It didn't look like a home at all. Rainie mentioned that Dahlia was around forty years old, but she wasn't married yet. She had been alone all these years.
Looking around the room, I guessed that she probably didn't have a boyfriend, but lived alone.
After a while, she came out of the room with the Bible in her hand. She looked at me and asked, "Do you want some coffee?" As she asked this, she sat down in front of the table and began boiling water. I pursed my lips and asked, "What do you want?"
"Call Hendrix and tell him to withdraw the lawsuit against Sebastian to let him come back from Oakland," she replied without wasting time with me. She then took out some coffee beans and prepared to brew coffee for me.
I pursed my lips and looked at her. "Are you doing all this just because of Sebastian? I'm a little surprised. When did you get so close to Sebastian?" I asked.
She shrugged her shoulders and looked at me with a faint expression and answered, "Human beings will die for riches, just as birds will for food. Mrs. Roberts has been used to the wealthy life, so you certainly don't understand what we ordinary folk have to go through."
