"So, how much did Sebastian give you?" I asked.

She looked at me and suddenly laughed. "What? Are you going to try to double the amount? The rich are good. They always feel that any problem can be solved with money," she said.

I pursed my lips and waited for her next words.

"If you wanted to offer me money, forget it. I've already brought you back here. If you don't want to trouble Hendrix, you don't have to do what I told you to. However, unfortunately, you'll have to stay here with me for a few days. I don't know what lengths Hendrix will go to just to find you!" she continued.

She didn't seem to be in a hurry, which made me a little confused. She had brought me here by herself without leaving any trace. Something didn't add up.

I didn't call Hendrix and instead, just stayed with her. The sky gradually darkened. She either read the Bible or drank coffee. It seemed that she was not in a hurry at all. On the other hand, I grew more and more worried that something was wrong.

If she just wanted to force me to call Hendrix, she would have abused me or taken some extreme measures. However, she waited so calmly, which made me puzzled.

"Let's eat some noodles. I don't want to get into trouble with Hendrix for letting you starve!" she said. She had cooked some instant noodles and added some vegetables to them. I didn't have much of an appetite, so I simply looked at her and said, "When are you going to let me go?"

She looked at me and raised her eyebrows. "Are you ready to call Hendrix?" she asked.

I frowned and said, "As you know, I won't call Hendrix. Sebastian deserves the punishment. What you want is money, Hendrix can give it to you as well. You can ask for whatever amount you like. There is no need to waste our time like this!"

She ate calmly and smiled. She looked at me and said, "Sure enough, Mrs. Roberts is really generous. However, I feel so sorry for you. I don't know if you have ever heard of a saying, 'grasshoppers tied to the same rope'. I believe in the concept of karma. Although I don't like Sebastian either, but I made him a promise, so I will still go through with it. So, Mrs. Roberts, you only have one choice here!"

I pursed my lips and stared at her while she ate her noodles slowly. I couldn't help but feel a little annoyed. It seemed that I couldn't change her mind at all.

After a moment's hesitation, I looked at her and asked, "I'm a little curious. When did you and Sebastian get so close?"

She raised her eyebrows, but did not evade my question at all. She replied, "Ever since we came back from Europe." "Why?" I asked.

She was a little impatient. "As I said, human beings will die for riches, just as birds will for food!" she said.

"If that's the case, why didn't you take Hendrix's money? If you want money, Sebastian will give it to you, but Hendrix will give it to you as well. What's the difference?" I continued asking. She raised her eyebrows. "Of course there is!" she replied.

As the day was getting dark, I decided to make a call to Hendrix. However, the call failed to connect.

I looked at her. She appeared to be unbothered. She lowered her head and ate her noodles in silence. I continued to make a few more calls, but it was still the same. None of the calls could get through.

For a moment, I couldn't help feeling confused. I looked at her and asked, "There's no line here at all, isn't it? Asking me to call Hendrix wasn't your plan at all. You are just stalling for time, right?"
