My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1291
We crept out of the room so as not to wake Anne up.
After chatting with Valerie for a while, I went to Roberts Group to have dinner with Hendrix. I parked the car downstairs. When I entered the building, I bumped into Estella, who was just coming down. She was holding a homemade lunch box in her hand, a pink one, and she looked flushed. Was she seeing someone new?
"Miss Zanes!" I went forward to greet her. Startled, she almost dropped the lunch box in her hand onto the ground.
"MM..rs!" She was still in shock, and her face turned pale when she saw me. Seeing her look so flustered, I felt a little sorry and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it. I thought you saw me." Probably still in the midst of her daydream, she got shocked again when she heard me say that.
She calmed down and paused for a moment. The blush on her face was gone, and it became pale. "I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention just now. I didn't see you, Mrs. Roberts!"
I smiled helplessly and said, "It's my bad. It's no wonder that you were shocked. You're... Are you in... a relationship?"
She was stunned and quickly hid the lunch box behind her. She lowered her head and said, "No, I'm just going up to send over some snacks."
From the looks of her, this relationship must still be in its early phase, or maybe she was still trying to win that mystery man's heart. That was why she was so shy and timid. I smiled and said, "If you like him, then go after him. A brave girl is the most charming!"
She was stunned and looked up at me. She was a little confused. "Mrs. Roberts, it's not what you think. I didn't..."
"I know, it's okay!" I smiled faintly, patted her shoulder, and entered the elevator. Estella was a beautiful young girl in the prime of her youth.
Youth is a beautiful phase. When I got in, I went straight to Hendrix's floor.
As soon as I got out of the elevator, I saw Hendrix's secretary holding a file, wanting to print it. When she saw me, she looked at me with a strange expression and said, "Mrs. Roberts, you are here!"
I nodded. Her expression seemed a little strange, but I didn't think too much about it. I just asked, "Is Mr. Roberts inside?"
The secretary nodded. "Yes, he's here!"
I didn't think too much about it. I never knocked, so I pushed the door open and went in. I saw Hendrix buttoning his shirt in front of his desk.
Hearing the door, he just coldly said, "Get out!"
I was stunned for a moment and noticed that the temperature in the office was a little low. I couldn't help but ask, "Who provoked you? Why are you so angry?"
When he heard my voice, the hand that was buttoning his shirt paused. He looked up, and the hostility on his face lightened when he saw me. With a smile, he asked, "Why are you here all of a sudden? Didn't you say you were going to visit Anne?"
I walked up to him and noticed that his shirt was still unbuttoned. Seeing that some parts of his neck were red, I frowned and said, "What's wrong? What happened?"
He pursed his lips and said, "Evan is not here. The secretary is new, and she scalded me with hot water."
I was in no hurry to button him up. I looked around the office and found the plaster for burns. I asked him to sit on the chair and unbutton his shirt again. It revealed big surfaces of his scalded wound, and I frowned upon seeing them. "Maybe just pass the matter in Oakland over to other people. Ask Evan to come back."
