I wasn't sure if it was because Freya had been too solemn when she had advised me, or if it was because Sean had given me a hard time, I had a nightmare on the bed while waiting for Hendrix to return. In my dreams, I was nailed onto a big piece of wood. The hall was filled with men looking like Sean. They pointed at me, saying that I was guilty, wanting to slaughter me into pieces. I wanted to struggle and escape, but my limbs were pierced by nails as thick as a finger. I felt unbearable pain just by breathing.

Suddenly, those men rushed toward me like psychopaths. They drank my blood and ate my flesh. I was in so much pain, but I couldn't cry out loud...

"Arianna? Arianna..."

A familiar, deep voice sounded in my ear. Instantly, I opened my eyes, and Hendrix's worried face appeared in front of me. I hugged him almost immediately. The terrible dream was too realistic. I could still feel the pain of my body being torn into pieces. I was still gasping heavily when I hugged Hendrix's sturdy chest.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Hendrix's voice was very soft, and he used his big hand to gently stroke me on my back.

It took a long while for me to calm down and finally let go of Hendrix. Our eyes met.

"What did you dream of?" Hendrix asked again.

"Nothing much," I said as I heaved a long sigh, still feeling the lingering fear. I didn't want to recall the dream again.

I turned to look at the window. The sun was already rising. Hendrix might have just returned.

"Sleep for a while. It's still early to go to the hospital," I said as I tugged at his sleeves. I was worried that he was too exhausted.

He said, "There's no need. I slept for two hours in the office. It's enough. I came back for a shower."

I replied, "Then go quickly. Turn up the water temperature to relieve your fatigue."

Hendrix rubbed my head worriedly before he got up and walked into the bathroom.

I didn't feel sleepy anymore as I leaned against the bed. I couldn't relax completely.

What was the world really like? It was human's belief to always seek progression, but no one had ever told me that on the way forward, it was like walking on thin ice every day and night. One wrong step and the ice would shatter.

Now that I thought about it, when Hendrix first took over Roberts Group, he practically had no time to return home. Besides Andrea causing trouble, he was at the company. Hendrix probably could not relax for even a second.

Hendrix quickly came out of the bathroom and wrapped himself in a bathrobe. He then lay on the bed while hugging me in his arms, closing his eyes to rest.

"Did Sean visit this afternoon?" Hendrix asked indifferently.

I didn't plan to hide it from him, so I nodded. "Well, he wants to take me to Mesville."

"Dream on." Hendrix snorted darkly. "I won't consider GW Group as my partners anymore," he added.

Hendrix was talented, so what he said was not an exaggeration. As long as he was given enough time, sooner or later, Roberts Group would be on the same level as GW Group. But I still had my own worries, as I couldn't afford to support him endlessly and risk losing everything we had. I closed my eyes and leaned against his chest, pretending to fall asleep.

The implantation of my fertilized ovum went smoothly. I rested at home for the next half month.

Freya and Raiya visited me from time to time and chatted with me, so I wasn't bored. Besides, I also had to prepare for the bar exam and needed to concentrate. I didn't have anything else to do, so I sent Estella back to the company.
