My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1704
"Evan found an old document with Irvin's grandfather's signature on it, but I'm not sure yet."
Hendrix was a man who liked to keep a low profile. If he was not more than 80% certain of something, he would not tell me about it.
It was no wonder that Irvin kept telling me to be wary of Hendrix. He must have known what happened that year, so he'd tried to confuse me before Hendrix told me anything.
I was not used to suspecting others with malice, especially Irvin. However, contrary to my belief, he was not the person I'd thought he was.
All of a sudden, Evan's voice came from the other end of the line.
"Sir, we're ready."
Hendrix murmured a response and hung up the phone. "I'll call you tomorrow..."
I brought the phone in front of me and saw that it had returned to the dialing screen. Looking at the only call record, I had mixed feelings in my heart.
Hendrix was not worried about my situation at all.
In fact, it was not his fault. After all, this was my own choice.
I didn't feel sleepy after putting down the phone, so I repeatedly stared at the image of my baby on the laptop, hoping to find clues about his whereabouts.
I watched and watched until I eventually drifted off.
When I woke up again, it was ten o'clock in the morning. There was no major change in the weather in Mesville during the winter. The sky was grey as if the end of the world was approaching.
After washing up, I opened the door and went downstairs, intending to have a good look around this place.
The whole castle was empty, except for a few foreign servants who'd arrived last night.
These people had tried their best to get me here, but they didn't prevent me from escaping. I didn't know whether it was because they took my child away and had no fear of me escaping or whether there were other factors.
"Morning, Arianna." Irvin was sitting at the dining table. He was dressed in a white suit and looked elegant. The corners of his mouth were upturned in a gentle smile, which made him look like a gentleman. My fate was in his hands. I knew that being afraid wouldn't change anything, so I just calmly walked over and sat in the seat across from him.
The servant was very clever. As soon as I sat down, he served me the same breakfast as Irvin's.
I, on the other hand, had been paying close attention to Irvin's every movement and expression.
After talking to Hendrix on the phone last night, I had been trying to figure out if Irvin had really changed.
"Arianna, if you continue staring at me like this, I can't help but feel that you are about to change your mind."
Irvin opened and closed his lips without looking up at me, but his words were extremely shocking.
I was surprised for a moment before I regained my senses. Then, I calmly said, "I don't understand. What do you mean, change my mind?"
"Of course..." Irvin stopped what he was doing and raised his head slowly. Then, staring at me with his dark eyes, he said with a faint smile, "That you would choose to be with me."
As expected, he had changed. Only his obsession with me still laid within him.
But now, he was no longer the one who'd protected me wherever I went but the one who'd kidnapped my flesh and blood.
I sneered and said sarcastically, "I didn't know you were so self-righteous before."
I wanted to provoke him and get the information I wanted, but Irvin remained unmoved, as if it did not seem to bother him at all. I felt like I was punching a cotton bag.
He smiled and asked me, "Why are you so fascinated by Hendrix?"
What did Irvin want?
My feelings towards him had long gone, but why did he still want to cause me trouble?
I tossed the question back to him. "What do you think?"
