I knew that Aaron and Hendrix were both sad.

Putting my hand on his back, I apologized sincerely, "Aaron, I was wrong. You can rest assured that I won't put myself in danger again in the future. This time, I am in the wrong. I'll accept any punishment you dish out."

Aaron probably did not expect that I would admit my mistakes. He swallowed the sarcastic words that he was ready to hurl at me and sighed helplessly. "How can I punish you? Since you have admitted your mistake, what kind of brother would I be if I still held this grudge against you?"

I laughed and said, "The luckiest thing in my life is having a good brother like you."

"Don't try to butter me up. If you do it again, I won't spare you so easily! You know, I have many ways to teach you a lesson!" Aaron pretended to be fierce and rolled his eyes at me.

But I was used to being the fierce one instead, so I didn't feel afraid of Aaron's threat. I raised my eyebrows and let this matter slide.

But when I recalled Sebastian's mysterious smile before I fainted, I did not feel at ease. So I asked Aaron for the truth, "Did the doctor ever examine me? Is there anything wrong with me?" "Did you finally remember that you gave birth not too long ago?" Aaron glared at me and patted me on the back of my hand to comfort me. "Don't worry. The doctor said it's not a big deal. But you better get some rest for a while."

I breathed a sigh of relief after hearing what he said, but I was still worried. I told him, "Why don't we let the doctor do a more detailed examination? I'll do a blood test and urine test. It's safer."

Aware of my abnormal requests, Aaron suddenly grasped my hand tightly. He asked with a serious expression, "What's going on?"

"It was Sebastian's men who took my child. Before I lost consciousness, they injected something into my legs. I don't know what it was," I told him.

I didn't care if saying this would make Aaron worried. I had to find out what Sebastian injected into me.

Aaron did not speak for several seconds. He gasped, and the atmosphere in the room seemed to freeze over.

I felt even worse watching his expression than when I was tortured.

"Don't worry. Maybe it was nothing serious." I wanted to comfort him, but I had no confidence. My voice was so soft that it was barely a whisper. Aaron ignored me and withdrew his hand. Then he got up and walked out of the room.

He was really angry this time.

Soon, the best doctors in the whole hospital were called to my ward. After taking turns to ask about my situation, they arranged a series of examinations. Aaron was watching the whole time, but he didn't say a word to me.

Waiting for the test results was a long process. There were no problems with the preliminary examination. It would take two days to check for viruses and bacteria, to confirm whether I had been poisoned or not.

I slept too much during the day, and had trouble falling asleep at night.

In the evening, I got up and was ready to go out for a walk, but when I reached the door, I was stopped by Aaron's bodyguards.

I stretched out my neck and glanced at my surroundings. Almost every exit of the hospital was guarded by bodyguards. Most of the guards were placed in front of the door to my ward. Therefore, it was impossible for someone to escape or break in alone.

There were more bodyguards at the door of another ward a little further away than in other places, but not as many as at my door. That must've been Aaron's room.

Perhaps the lesson he had learned in Jarold City was too severe, and he would not allow any accident to happen again.

This person who used to be so high and mighty threw away his nobility and was willing to suffer in the hospital because of me. He was being extremely careful as well. Aaron was still so stubborn, second to none other than Hendrix.

Indeed, I shouldn't have let my emotions affect everyone who cared about me.

It wasn't just about trying my best. Trying wasn't enough anymore.
