My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1744
We eventually arrived at Reid Manor.
Before I entered the house, I heard the sounds of Anne and Emma playing.
I asked, "Anne, why haven't you slept yet?"
"Mom!"
Upon hearing my voice, Anne immediately rushed over.
"Mom, look, this pony is so cute!" She raised the toy in her hands and smiled especially sweetly.
"Arianna, your daughter is lovely. She doesn't like those expensive toys, but instead treats that small wooden horse as a treasure." Emma stood up and joked.
I led Anne to the sofa and sat down. Only then did I take a closer look at the wooden horse in her hand.
To be honest, compared with the other toys at home, this thing was neither delicate nor novel, and it looked somewhat unattractive. It was a rather strange choice. "Anne, where did this horse come from?" I asked.
"Mr. Clark from our school gave it to me as a gift,"
Anne said in a child's tone.
I asked, "Mr. Clark? Which Mr. Clark?"
"It's our English teacher!" She said loudly, "Mr. Clark even praised me for being smart when I was in class!"
Seeing that she was so happy, I couldn't help but laugh. It seemed that this school was very suitable for her.
At this time, Aaron stood on the stairs in his pajamas and called her, "Anne, say goodbye to Mom and come to bed upstairs."
"Oh! I'm coming! Good night, Mom!" Anne kissed me on the cheek and ran to Aaron.
Emma looked at them with envious eyes. "Aaron will definitely be a good father in the future."
"But you have to give him the chance," I said.
Emma lowered her head and suddenly stopped talking.
I was going to comfort her, but Aaron had probably told the nurse that I was back, so she came to inject me with the medicine. After a day's events, I forgot to check on Aaron and Emma again.
In order to make up for not spending time with Anne recently, I got up early the next day, and personally sent her to school.
The car stopped at the side of the school gate, and Anne pointed at a man's back and shouted, "Mr. Clark! Mom, look, that's Mr. Clark!"
Following her hand, I could only see the man's back from my direction. Unlike what I had expected, which was a male teacher in his 50s or 60s, Mr. Clark looked very young.
As soon as the door opened, she couldn't wait to get off the car and run to Mr. Clark.
I thought that as a parent, I should look decent, so I fixed my makeup in front of the mirror.
In less than two minutes, when I went over, the teacher had been replaced by another female teacher.
I was a little baffled, but I still went over to greet the female teacher.
Anne pursed her lips and felt aggrieved. "Mom, you should have hurried up. Mr. Clark is gone!"
The female teacher and I smiled, and didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
"Mrs. Roberts, don't misunderstand. Mr. Clark has a lot of things to do. He was just called away by the headmaster. He didn't mean to avoid you on purpose," explained the female teacher.
I answered, "It's okay. We'll always have a chance to meet him. Anne really likes Mr. Clark, and she adapted to the school very quickly. I just wanted to thank him."
After some pleasantries, the female teacher took Anne in.
I stood at the gate for a while and vaguely saw Anne walk around the corner. Mr. Clark suddenly appeared and held her hand, and the two walked inside. They talked and laughed and appeared very close. However, the distance was too far for me to see the man's face clearly.
