My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1787
Based on Serene's tone, it seemed that she had believed Hendrix's act and regarded me as a spoiled rich child.
However, Serene was right. Aaron had reacted way too violently towards Hendrix's words and had thrown the first punch. We knew that this matter was on us, and we didn't want to cause any more trouble. Simon stood up and tried to mediate by saying, "What's going on? We're all business partners here. There's no need to fight."
Pretending to sigh, he looked at Aaron, who started the fight, and said apologetically, "Aaron, how about this? Since you got hurt, why don't you bring Arianna home to get some rest. I'll contact you another day to talk business."
Aaron retracted his foot and reluctantly looked at both Hendrix and Serene who were standing opposite him. He closed his eyes with dissatisfaction and nodded, " Mr. Drake, I'll save you some dignity today. Make sure Serene remembers this, I'll get my revenge for this!"
After that, he limped away with his injured foot.
Feeling wronged, I froze for a moment before stomping my own foot and then left.
After being humiliated, Aaron's face was sullen after stepping out of the office. I bore a solemn expression as well. He walked out of the Drake Real Estate building without saying a word.
After getting into the car, Aaron immediately gasped and bent over to rub his feet. He cursed, "F*ck, Serene almost broke my foot!"
Upon seeing his reaction, I felt distressed and also amused. I said, "Poor you. However, I think we pulled it off this time. Serene should believe that Hendrix and I have divorced because of our clashing personalities. In the future, when handling Bate Coin, we should take risks and fight to keep the investment."
Aaron, thinking about how to deal with a similar sneak attack next time, muttered to himself, "When I head back, I'll get the housekeeper to order me a new pair of shoes with thicker soles. I have to be careful of that batch's sneak attacks!"
"Do you have to go that far?"
"You have no idea how painful that kick was," Aaron said, his face gloomy. "Even if it was all an act, I'll hold onto this grudge. The Forbes family had really picked a bone with me. Matt was enough trouble as it is, but now Serene's in the picture as well. What an eyesore. This whole family is really troublesome."
Not denying that, I laughed, "We should act accordingly to the situation. Who could do anything to you, the mighty Aaron? When the time comes, Hendrix will naturally make them all disappear."
"I hope we don't have to wait for too long." Aaron tutted, seemingly aloof to the situation.
"Getting the Forbes family and the Drake family to cooperate is only the first step of our trap. Tomorrow, you'll need to prepare some money, find some retail investors, head to the markets, and raise the stock price of Bate Coin," I explained.
"Alright, I know what to do," Aaron replied as he folded his arms and leaned on the leather seat. Perhaps he had put too much effort into the act just then, as he looked a little tired. "What's wrong?" I asked out of concern.
"It's nothing. The image of Serene defending Hendrix earlier just flashed across my mind. It reminded me of Yana," Aaron said weakly, looking out of the car window with his dark brown eyes, like a lonely traveler strolling all alone at night.
My heart suddenly felt like it had been wrapped in ice. I felt bad for him, but I was unable to help him. As a result, I felt melancholic as well. At a time like this, I had no idea what to say to him. "Let's visit Carney together sometime. We're a family after all. We can't just stop seeing each other again all of a sudden."
Upon hearing this, Aaron breathed out a sigh of relief as though a weight had been lifted off his shoulders and started to joke about, "The Forbes family are really annoying. Before they go bankrupt, I'll mess with them a little more!"
I smiled in relief. Men's emotions really do fluctuate easily.
