"Boss," Mullen's emotionless voice gave me a fright. Her face looked blank as she said, "Isn't it enough for you to have private meet-ups with him every night? Do you still miss him?"

"Hm?" I was stunned. When I realized what she was trying to say, my face flushed red. I felt both angry and embarrassed. I retorted, "Mullen, what on earth are you thinking about? Could you please behave more appropriately? I'm just waiting for my friend. We promised to meet here half an hour ago."

"Oh." Miller pushed her glasses up expressionlessly, "Don't wait for someone who isn't coming. It's meaningless to do so."

"Sawyer doesn't want to meet me?" I asked.

Miller shrugged, neither making a comment nor agreeing.

I suddenly felt like I had been tricked. I got so angry that I called Sawyer's number again.

I soon heard a beeping sound. I thought my call had gone through, so I got ready to scold him. But then, I heard the automated voice message say, "I'm sorry, the number you have dialed is unavailable. Please..." "He rejected my call?" I pointed at the phone in disbelief. "He actually hung up on me?"

Mullen raised an eyebrow, her face looked nonchalant.

I was utterly irritated by Sawyer's attitude. Thinking of how friendly he was when we first met, I grew disappointed and angry with him. Putting on my coat, I said, "Go and prepare the car. How dare he hide from me."

"Where are we going?" Miller asked.

"His old place."

I've been waiting in Sawyer's office since this afternoon.

At seven o'clock, a figure pushed the door open and walked into the office. Then, the lights switched on. The light was dazzlingly bright, but I could still see his face clearly.

Upon seeing me, he froze for a few seconds before he took off his coat and hung it on the hanger as though nothing had happened. Walking to his desk and sitting down, he then instructed his secretary, "Bring two glasses of water for us."

"Well Mr. Clark, aren't you in high spirits? You must have just returned from scoring a project worth over a hundred million dollars. Why not open a bottle of fine wine to celebrate? Why are you drinking plain water?" I taunted him sarcastically.

Sawyer paused upon hearing me say that. He looked up at me and said faintly, "Can't you be more polite?"

"Hmph..." I sneered and looked at him ferociously. "My dear little brother has grown so much. Not only is he standing up to me, but he's also shifting the blame onto me. Since you've already come so far, why don't you teach me some manners right now?"

We just glared at each other as we stood on opposite ends of the room.

The secretary came back into the room with two cups of water in hand. Sensing that something was amiss with the atmosphere, she quickly put down the cups and hurried out.

The three of us were alone in the room. After a moment of silence, Sawyer sighed and looked away from me before asking, "What are you trying to say?"

"I should be asking you that. What the hell are you doing?" I yelled. "How long have you been away from home? Have you even hugged your newborn son?"

Upon the very mention of his son, Sawyer's expression suddenly turned cold. He retorted, "What did Raiya tell you?"

"She didn't tell me much. I saw things for myself. She has just given birth, yet you didn't even take care of her. Now, you're leaving her all alone at home. You're her husband, her hope and her entire life. Sawyer, you're being so cruel to her!"

Sawyer looked at me, with his adamantly stubborn eyes. However, he kept quiet.

As an experienced person, I could tell that when I mentioned Raiya, his eyes were filled with nothing but guilt and self-blame.

All that yearning, reluctance, and heartache was evidence of his love for her, and even the obvious signs of tenderness that could be seen everywhere on him before seemed to have disappeared. After I calmed down, I realized that everything I had said just then was redundant. Adjusting my tone, I said again, "Is there anything you're hiding from Raiya? I'm afraid that she will find out, so..."

"No." Sawyer didn't even give me the chance to finish, "I don't want to keep things from her. I'll confess everything to her, including the matter about lan and everything before. Our relationship will be over, just like that."

He looked at me, his gaze filled with determination as though he was fighting against the world.

I couldn't believe that he had made such a decision after only being married for just over a year.
