My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1816
I intended to let Anne live a relaxed life, but I didn't expect them to be so worried. After thinking for a moment, I nodded and agreed, "I know, I'll see you tonight."
Once the call ended, Josiah was already bringing Anne around at the school gate. I didn't know if it was because I was getting older, but I saw things rather emotionally. Looking at them among the children, one bigger than the other, the word 'warmth' materialized in my head.
However, this was only a fleeting thought. After everything Josiah had done, even if he spent his entire lifetime trying to redeem himself, he was just a scumbag who couldn't fall any lower than he already had. That's what I felt deep in my heart.
I could understand Hendrix's feelings of brotherhood and affection, but when dealing with such a person, trust and forgiveness were out of the question. I decided that for the sake of my child's future, I had to add an extra layer of protection.
On the way back to the office, I sent a text to Tobias asking him to find a good nutritionist who was astute and respectful. I added that it was better if they had a medical license too.
After that, the only thing left to do was to wait.
I pushed open the door to the office and noticed that Milleon was sitting inside.
"Mr. Koch? Why are you here?" I asked.
I recalled the hundred and fifty million dollars. I was thinking of passing the check to Fabian later and getting him to transfer the remaining amount to Milleon's account. I didn't expect him to visit me of his own accord.
"Hahaha! Miss Reid, of course, I'm here to give you money!" Milleon chuckled as he spoke.
This was a little strange. He had just handed me a large check last night, and now he was going to hand me another one. Did he have memory loss?
However, he didn't seem to be joking around. He winked at the assistant beside him, who immediately whipped out a document from his bag and handed it to me over the table.
"After signing this contract, all the companies under my name will hand over their involved legal businesses to your law firm!" he chortled.
My eyebrows shot up as I stared at the thin folder. I felt as if I had suddenly struck the lottery.
According to Emma's judgment, even if I combined my assets with Hendrix's, it wouldn't even come close to Milleon's. If I were to accept this under the law firm, there would be no need to worry about paying rent ever again.
I would be wrong to say that I wasn't tempted by this huge reward that seemed to have fallen from the sky, but I was more frightened than anything else. When I assessed the situation, I believed that there was nothing truly free in this world.
The tens of millions of dollars last night, coupled with this abundant gift, was such a massive favor. If Milleon were to ask for anything in the future, would there even be room for me to reject him? After pondering on this for a while, the corners of my lips tugged upward. After adjusting my expression, I smiled and pushed the document back towards him. "It's our job to accept money and solve other people's disasters. We have already received our payment, so Mr. Levin will transfer the extra amount to your personal account later. As for everything else, Mr. Koch, you're very welcome," I commented.
The grin on his face faded, but it returned as quickly as it disappeared. "It doesn't matter. Since you can't handle it, let's put it aside for the time being. However, there's one other thing I want to ask of you today, Miss Reid," Milleon said.
Sure enough, no one would approach me without a reason.
"Go ahead," I gave him the green light.
Seeing that I didn't refuse, Milleon placed his fist over his mouth. He cleared his throat and glared impatiently at the assistant next to him while feigning a few extra coughs.
His aide nodded, turned, and left. He seemed to be quite a perceptive person.
