My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1822
I nodded and thought about it for a moment. Then, I looked at him and said, "During Milleon's father's birthday party, I noticed that Tyler and Serene were much closer than before. Did the Forbes and Drake families signed the contract over Bate Coin?"
A smile spread across Hendrix's face, "That's right, the fish has caught the bait. My people are already working on hacking the procedures of Bate Coin, so it won't take long to complete. You don't have to worry about a single thing so long as I'm around. Now, back to our previous topic of conversation, I'm very curious about the person who dared to go on a date with you."
There were people who still dared to date me at such a critical time. It really was suspicious.
"Santiago," I told him seriously. "A foreign Western man from Mesville, who had just returned from overseas. Also, Pedro seems to be interested in cooperating with the Jenkins family."
"I see. Evan will check it out later," Hendrix responded.
"All right," I replied.
I nodded obediently, but I caught a glimpse of Hendrix grimacing rather fiercely. Although it was only for a split second, I saw it clearly.
"Hendrix? Are you alright?" I asked. I fixed my gaze on him and I stopped smiling.
"Hm? What?" Hendrix said. His expression returned to normal. He looked at me innocently and then revealed his exhaustion. It seemed that he had deliberately aimed the camera at himself so that I could see him furrowing his eyebrows together. He sighed deeply and explained, "I've been very busy these past few days and I haven't been able to get some good rest. I really could use some sleep."
I froze when I heard him say that. Seconds later, I replied faintly, "Just hang up the call since you're tired. You should go to bed."
Hendrix looked up at the screen and said, "You too. I'll call you again tomorrow."
"Alright," I murmured.
Once our conversation ended and Hendrix hung up, my phone screen returned to the call log screen. I sat motionlessly as my heart sank to the bottom of my stomach.
Hendrix had always been good at concealing his emotions. No matter the situation, he wouldn't let anyone see his true emotions.
However, I wasn't just anyone. I was his wife, the one who had been with him for ten whole years, I knew him like the back of my hand.
I knew Hendrix very well. How could a man who demanded perfection feel exhausted?
My intuition told me that Hendrix was hiding something from me because he didn't want me to be worry.
I sat in bed for a while, everything that had just happened flashed through my mind. I picked up my phone and keyed in Mullen's number.
I messaged, "Go get the car right now. I want to go to the Roberts Group building."
Mullen's movements were very agile. Once I was done packing, she was already waiting by the roadside with some bodyguards and the car.
I got into the passenger seat next to her and said to her rather tensely, "Get me there as soon as possible."
Without wasting any words, Mullen revved the engine, stepped on the accelerator, which lurched the car forward.
It took her less than twenty minutes. to arrive outside the Roberts Group building. I rushed up, without caring if Serene, Eddison, or if the others were around.
At the time, the Roberts Group building was still pretty occupied. Almost every floor was lit with lights on as many employees were working overtime. I pressed the
button in the elevator that went to
the president's office.
I then walked out of the elevator and pushed the office door open. As I had expected, there was no one inside.
Half an hour ago, he mentioned over
the phone that he was still working in the office at this time, but now he had disappeared. It didn't make any
sense! t
I stood at the door, tapped open the call log, and pressed the dial button.
