My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1861
Half a month ago, when Hendrix saw Johannes and his face that looked the same as it did twenty years ago, he put aside all plans that he had and began to investigate the latter.
Johannes had changed his name and became a world-renowned Psychology professor, Nathan Marshall. He didn't have much to his name but was favored by Baldrick. The two frequently kept in touch, and it seemed like Baldrick was protecting him since he had never been photographed by the media.
Hendrix's men tried to sneak into Johannes's house to investigate further, but they lost his trial multiple times.
Obviously, Johannes was not as clean as he looked.
"I went to the Marshall family in person using the Roberts family name, but I was halted outside the door..." Hendrix narrowed his eyes and looked out the window, the grim hatred in his eyes spreading like dark clouds on a clear sky.
After being lied to for so many years, he went to them and wanted to know the truth. However, he returned empty-handed and didn't even get to meet him. It was no wonder Hendrix was so agitated when he saw Johannes at the auction.
I frowned and put my hand on the back of his hand. Mustering my courage, I asked, "Then Grandma..."
Was she still alive?
Hendrix's expression suddenly changed when he heard this. He looked like an abandoned lone wolf, his expression lost and desolate, "I don't know. I wasn't sure whether I was his biological son, so I took Uncle Trent's hair and did a DNA test. It definitely proved that I had the Roberts family blood running through my veins!"
He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists together tightly as he spoke. I could even hear the sounds of his joints cracking as his bones rubbed against each other.
But it wasn't just him; I couldn't help sighing either.
No father in this world would deliberately fake his death, leave his child behind for more than two decades to let him suffer in a river of hatred while he went on and lived the merry life on the other side of the
ocean.
Johannes's existence had completely turned Hendrix's life into a big, awful joke.
But I shouldn't ask too many questions since Hendrix was feeling rather emotional. Soon after, the car came to a stop when Evan parked the car on the side of the road.
"Madam, the hotel is right around the corner. I'm dropping you off here. Mullen's car is right in front of us."
I nodded and got out of the car.
We couldn't be sure whether Johannes was a friend or foe, so we had to be more cautious.
It was yet another sleepless night.
When I finally fell asleep at dawn, I was woken up by a knock on the door.
Thinking that it was Freya, I went to open the door blurry-eyed. As soon as the door opened, Johannes's seemingly friendly face appeared in front of me, and the sleep in me was instantly chased out.
Since he was Hendrix's father, I should call him 'Dad'. But I couldn't utter it under his gaze, no matter how hard I tried.
How was Johannes related to Baldrick?
How was Johannes involved when the children were switched?
After looking at each other wordlessly for a few moments, I suddenly realized that Johannes should have been at Baldrick's home at this time. He should have met Hendrix and talked about the past. Why was he here?
"I thought you'd invite me in." Johannes was the first to speak. He had
da faint smile on his face, but i
gaze was unfathomable.

I remained silent and did not reply. After thinking for a while, I moved to the side to let him in.
Johannes skipped the pleasantries and entered.
Hendrix and Johannes were splitting images of each other; even the way they moved were identical.
