My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1871
The guests were all decent people, and they watched the ceremony take place quietly. Although the atmosphere was tense, it was a gratifying ceremony.
Death was not the end of everything. Perhaps the departed had just gone off to another world, and was living a more stable life there.
After the memorial service was over, the guests went forward to give their gifts and to send off their old friend. Everything went on in an orderly manner. Suddenly, a woman wearing a beret caught my attention The woman was tall, comparable to a model. Her eyes were beautiful and bright, and they exuded a sense of confidence. When carefully observed, they were somewhat similar to Hendrix's.
She walked up to Hendrix and raised her chin proudly. She slowly reached out and shook hands with Hendrix without much sympathy. "My condolences."
She then looked at me and followed the guests in front of her. She placed the flowers in front of the portrait for the person in memory.
I was not the only one who noticed her; an eyecatching person like her couldn't escape Hendrix's watchful eyes either.
As expected, before the woman left the place, Hendrix had already secretly said to Evan, "Watch her."
"Yes." Evan understood the order and left to carry out his task.
After the funeral, I followed Hendrix to the garden at the back and we saw the woman again.
She wore sunglasses and was sitting leisurely on the chair. She watched us indifferently as we approached her.
As we sat across from her, we could clearly see our reflection in her sunglasses but had no way of seeing her gaze.
"I've been thinking to myself, what would it be like if I had an older brother? Now, it doesn't seem too disappointing," The woman spoke, breaking the silence. Her words were directed at Hendrix and if I understood her correctly, she must be Johanne's daughter.
FAVOURITE GAMES ON
I couldn't say that I was shocked at this revelation; I just didn't expect my instincts to be this accurate.
If this was the case, did it mean Hendrix's mother was still alive?
Hendrix appeared to be very calm. He had no emotion in his eyes. "Where's Mother?"
Married couples tended to be very in-synch with one another. Evidently, Hendrix and I shared the same idea.
The woman took off her sunglasses and looked at him with a smile. "Is that important? Shouldn't you confirm my identity first?"
Hendrix kept Silent for a while, and
then he impatiently said, "You're Nathan's daughter who's on the top 500 richest people in Forbes List the youngest female candidate to be selected which makes you none other than Jennifer Marshall."
It seemed that Hendrix had already known about the current situation of the Marshalls after learning that Johannes was still alive.
Jennifer lowered her gaze and smiled. "My achievements are enough to shock any promising young man of the same age, but you are so calm. You are truly Father's son."
When she mentioned Johannes,
for
Hendrix's face instantly fell. I was worried that he would blame her Trent and his wife's death, so I quickly reached out to hold the back of his hand to calm him down. "Tell me your purpose here, Miss Marshall."
She had chosen this particular time to show up at Trent and his wife's
funeral to cause trouble. It was obvious that she wasn't a person who would consider other people's feelings, thus there was no need to worry about being courteous.
Jennifer then squinted at me and said with a faint smile, "Very good, my dear sister-in-law. Your children have done me a great favor."
Upon hearing this, an indescribable feeling suddenly rose in my chest. Johannes had said the same thing to be about my children. What were they trying to do to my babies? What on earth did they want?
