My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1919
I finally connected the dots; much like his father, Wynn had poor understanding of things.
"I'm fine with treating you to a meal, but you can't call me 'mom' anymore. Alright?"
"No problem." The little fellow smiled right away, pulling me into the restaurant. "Let's go, Madam Pretty!"
Wynn ordered a children's combo and the bestselling sets, occupying the space of the two-person table to the brim.
The little fellow did what he said he would. He only took a small bite of each food before he put them back down. The ice cream was the sole exception.
I chuckled and teased him. "Only girls like sweet food."
Hearing this, Wynn immediately put down the spoon in his hand, picked up the napkin, elegantly wiped his mouth and stopped eating.
"Aww, I was just joking. Eat up." As I spoke, I pushed the chocolate sundae on the table towards him.
He shook his head at me. "These are enough." "Really?" I asked doubtfully. Children couldn't always restrain themselves when it came to food.
He nodded his little head firmly again and said with a serious face, "Analysis of the big data indicates that inordinate consumption of fried and sugary food is detrimental to health."
For a moment, I couldn't tell if I was talking to a six-year-old child or a sophisticated genius. I was bemused briefly before I said, "If that's the case, shouldn't you refuse to consume even a single mouthful?" "There won't be any problem if I just eat a little. The more Daddy forbids me from eating them, the stronger my urge to have a taste. After all, I'm a kid. It's normal for me not to have self-restraint!"
There seemed to be something wrong with his determined expression. It was acceptable for children to be ignorant, but would it be sinful if I indulged him?
Thinking of this, I felt a twinge of guilt rising in me. Meanwhile, I also sensed a burning gaze directed at me. I looked up and met a pair of cold eyes outside the glass wall.
Hendrix stood outside the restaurant expressionlessly, and the chilliness around him began to engulf me. A wall stood separating us, but the temperature in the restaurant seemed to have abruptly dropped a few degrees.
Meeting that pair of ghostly eyes, I was overwhelmed with an inexplicable guilt.
By the time I came to my senses, Hendrix had already walked in.
"Mr. Facism!" As soon as Wynn saw him, he shouted fearlessly and stood up from his chair.
Hendrix frowned slightly and asked indifferently, "What should you call me?"
Wynn giggled and walked over to hold his father's thigh, flattering him by saying, "Daddy!"
A trace of helplessness flashed across Hendrix's eyes, but he didn't lose his temper. I slowly stood up.
Just as he was about to say
something, Wynn lifted his head and said excitedly, "Daddy, did you see Madam Forbes? She said that she would come to pick me up soon. It's been a long time, but she hasn't come yet. The uncles and aunties in the mall didn't give me the time of the day. Only Madam Pretty was willing to lend me her phone, and I remembered not to simply give you a call, Daddy. I'm a good boy, aren't 1?"
Huh?
It was Serene who had left him here? Why didn't he tell me this earlier?
Moreover, with that adorable face of his, nobody could bring himself or herself to ignore him if he went up to them for help.
He deliberately emphasized this, as if I had intentionally taught him to say so in order to take the credit.
"Mm." Hendrix gave a perfunctory
reply before lifting his head to look
at me. His eyes were dark and deep, making it hard for others to guess what he was thinking.
Businessmen valued profit and were wily. Besides, I didn't have the most positive impression of him. Hence, I'd preferred not to interact with him much.
"Since you've picked up your child, I'll be taking my leave first."
With that, I took my handbag and bade a farewell to Wynn. "Goodbye, Wynn. Remember to listen to your father."
The aloof and conceited man suddenly said, "Thank you for taking care of Wynn. How would you like me to thank you?"
