My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1921
It did not feel good to be suspected of something, but what mattered more was that I did not feel strange at all sitting in the car. This made me very worried along the way.
While I was caught up in my thoughts, Hendrix announced in a low voice, "We're here."
Only then did I come to my senses. I opened the door and got out of the car. I expressed my gratitude. "Thank you, Mr. Roberts."
The rain had gotten lighter; I could easily make a run for the villa from the roadside.
"Wait," Hendrix called out to me all of a sudden.
In the blink of an eye, he stepped out from the driver's seat and went to the trunk. When he came back, he stood quietly with a black umbrella in his hand.
His abrupt consideration made me a little uncomfortable. While I was distracted, Hendrix asked coldly, "Don't you want to get out of the car?"
"Oh. Oh, thank you," I stuttered.
Right after I said that, a familiar voice could be heard nearby.
"Arianna."
Hendrix and I turned our heads at the same time, and we saw that it was Irvin.
"Irvin? It's only a short distance, you didn't have to come out to get me," I pointed out.
Irvin had changed into a set of grey silk pajamas, and he walked towards me with a transparent umbrella.
"A friend of yours?" Hendrix asked. It might have been an illusion, but his voice seemed to revert back to being distant again.
"I'm her fiance," Irvin spoke first.
I pursed my lips without explaining much. I could only smile awkwardly.
"Arianna, come here," Irvin beckoned while waving his hand at me.
Hearing that, I obediently went towards him.
However, I hadn't even taken half a step when I felt my wrist getting grabbed forcefully.
At that moment, the atmosphere felt odd.
The man's hand was wide and
rough, and he didn't exert much strength, but when he touched me it was like magma burning into my skin. It was as if something was going to seep through the area and penetrate into my blood and bones.
"Mr. Roberts, is there anything else?" I added while standing rooted to the ground, but I did not reach out to push Hendrix away.
Although his grip was not tight, I could tell that I would not be able to break free easily.
Hendrix had been arrogant before, so what was he playing at?
At that moment, Hendrix also seemed to be confused, as if he was not aware of what he was doing.
Irvin's gaze locked onto Hendrix's hand instantly. His expression was extremely grave as he demanded, "Please let go of her."
Hendrix frowned, but he did not insist further as he let go of me.
Only then did I get under Irvin's umbrella.

"Irvin," I was worried that he might misunderstand, so I explained, "When I was shopping with Freya, I happened to run into Mr. Robert's son who had gotten lost..."
I told him what had happened in brief.
Upon hearing this, Irvin's facial
expression relaxed. He turned to
Hendrix and said apologetically, "It's fine since it's a misunderstanding. I should thank you instead for

back."
There was not a trace of any other reaction on Hendrix's originally indifferent face. He only stared intently at me for a moment before turning around to get into the car. Then, he left.
"This person is really strange," I joked while looking at the car, and I could not help but complain, "He changes his expression so quickly. It's too much."
Irvin ignored my words and gave my shoulder a squeeze as he urged, "It's cold outside, let's head in."
"Okay," I replied, realizing that our current relationship was somewhat ambiguous. I shrank my neck impulsively and took half a step to the side.
I still refused to let him get close to me.
Irvin must have sensed that I was estranging myself from him, and his hands retreated within a second.
